Pearl Jam v Nirvana
I was 17. (yes, I'm old) Like I said in my first post, I did like Nirvana when they first came out. Who didn't claim "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as their own personal anthem?! BUT, looking back at the music now, comparing Nevermind to Ten, for me personally, Nirvana just doesn't hold up for me the way Pearl Jam does. I STILL pull Ten out to listen to today. Not so much withNevermind. In fact, I often find myself changing the station when Nirvana comes on the radio  How about you BJAiken and Deaths_Friend (sorry I don't know your names, I'm Jen :nice: )

The playlist is FANTASTIC! I haven't read thru EVERY page, so I don't know if this has already been suggested, but might we be able to string together our own complete playlist (as listed above) to be downloaded, ala Dave's mixtapes? I  all of this music!

seasonal albums.
The Four Seasons is spectacular! to get back to the original question... I do this more with individual songs rather than whole albums.. though, I can't think of any specific examples at the moment :\ In general, I like more upbeat, danceable stuff for spring/summer and quieter, more mellow stuff in winter.

Anna! I had a fantastic time and now I'm shooting myself for not trying to get tix to Houston or Dallas. Aw, well.. I can't follow every band I love around! ;) The crowd was OK... I was right in front, so I couldn't really see much of it, but most of the people immediately surrounding me were pretty much just standing there. There were pockets of people rocking out, but not a ton, from what I could tell. I actually ended up meeting two women from the SP forum at the show because my friend came down with the flu! It was fun to be there with them, since they're such big fans. kimgan- thanks for the reminder on the Christmas Project... I need to sign-up! :shame: my hubby wasn't even with me! I totally chickened out.. though I did get an INCREDIBLE smile from Paul during the show! :wacky: Oh, and yes, Gary did remember where he was last night! :P

Oh the show was awesome last night! It was ridiculously hot (it was an outdoor gig) and the heat was Gary's favorite topic of conversation..."I love this city, but seriously, how do you people go outside?? It's fucking hot!" They were incredible... lots of energy in spite of the somewhat dull crowd. I was front row center-ish, a bit more toward Nathan's side. Highlights of the show for me were Run, Open Your Eyes, You're All I Have, Take Back the City (not my fave song on the album, but was so fun live!) and the LIGHTNING STRIKE was absolutely unbelievable. GAH. SO, SO GOOD!! Got only a couple of photos and 1 really short vid of Gary hopping off the stage to sing to someone right near me. After the show, the band didn't hang around outside, but we saw Paul and Jonny in a bar across the street from the venue and I got to thank Paul for the incredible show. He was very sweet and humble. :wacky: Anyway, here are my pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92995851@N00/sets/72157622413272959/ I didn't get any pics of Nathan because every time I tried, he'd step into an area where he was completely drowned out by the light. then my camera died. :(

Angie- fantastic pics and videos! Congrats on getting a guitar pick... looks like it was a great show. Now Gary will probably call us "Houston" instead of Austin tonight! ;)

^I think that's a very accurate description. And, I guess if they're new to him, they must be new to everyone, huh? ;)

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
@Violet- you're much more forgiving than me... I cannot stand Glen Beck. He's nothing but a hater and just likes to stir things up. He can disagree with Obama and his poilicies all he wants, but he's just plain hateful about it. I was glad to see Muse reject his "endorsement". @Imke- yes!

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
@Corey07- Muse/U2 is an incredible line-up... I'll see them in 1 week! and, for everyone else... just came across this: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/10/05/muse-beck-endorsement/ :laugh3::laugh3: for those of you who may not know, Glen Beck is an ultra-conservative talking head who has a show that airs on Fox.

Pearl Jam v Nirvana
Hmmm... I'd add Soundgarden to that list and put them ahead of AIC, I think.

Pitchfork's Top 200 albums of the decade: Coldplay nowhere to be found
^But, as Briggins said above, just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. I personally love each Coldplay album, and really don't care what articles like this say. BUT, I am a little surprised that AROBTTH didn't make it on, as it was critically very well received when it came out.
