The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)
Kay, I wrote half of my review but deleted it by accident.... well fail but just pretend I wrote this as I was listening because that's what the original was like. (I listened to it once during school today but in broken-up segments, then as a whole this evening.) (thpoilered coz it's long) zomg thank yew so muchhhhh... artist names track names album names etc etc NAOW plz... I really liked thissss :wacky: Track 4 was especially a lot different from what I generally listen to so thanks, always good to find songs I like in genres I don't appreciate as much. Really thank you. I'ma go listen to this moar. :escaping: incidentally I want mah review  from my person  Edit: You can really tell how nice this was because of the embarrassing amount of smilies I used, I almost never stoop to such huge amounts of smiley usage unless it's thuper good. ^-^

Where do you draw the line between "books" and "literature"? aka WHAT MAKES A GOOD BOOK TO YOU
You do need creativity for math though unless you're just learning rote memorization or simple arithmetic... most proofs for complicated mathematical theorems are stunningly beautiful and utterly original. Sadly, though, most laypeople who are taught in regular schools never learn an appreciation for this. Math does have a creative side to it.

Descartes walks into a bar. The bartender goes, "So, are you having a beer?" and Descartes goes, "I think not." Then he disappears.

Where do you draw the line between "books" and "literature"? aka WHAT MAKES A GOOD BOOK TO YOU
Why? Both, in my mind, are a search for truth expressed through a medium... the medium of art is paintings/musical notes/words/what have you, the medium of mathematics is the concept of numbers and operations you do to them. Art is a search for truth on a personal level, math is a search for truth on a "realistic" level. But they are fundamentally similar in my mind, just usually people divide them into different categories based on what kind of minds explore the two, be it logical/categorical or irrational/expressive. I've never heard of anyone having a similar view though. :P

Oooh well I love R2D2, but C3PO is sort of annoying, and I love Chewbacca, but I love Spock better, so. :nice: I love how no threads in CPing can remain on topic for more than a page or two. Isn't it just terrifitastic

:( Despite its lame special effects and stuff Star Trek actually deals with morally gray issues, or at least the original series does, I haven't watched much of the rest coz it's lamer. Whereas Star Wars is more well-done technically and possibly has better acting (but not in all cases... specially the prequels) but deals with moralistic black & white things... Luke is good, Darth is evil, Luke triumphs over evil by pew-pewing the Death Star... I mean it's a good story and the original three films are good, I just prefer Star Trek, I think.

You may not be able to measure quality of art OBJECTIVELY but that still doesn't stop anybody from deciding "this art rules"/"this art sucks"/"this art rules"/"this art SUCKS" which was kind of what I meant by this thread, what makes a good book to you... gah I should change the title xD

Ashes are pretty good for the environment too, actually they're very good for plants. My dad sprinkles ashes that we've burned around the trees and bushes n stuff to halp them grow

Okay, I agree with what is behind what you're saying, but I think everyone makes a personal distinction for themselves as to what they consider "artistic," whether it be paintings, music, or books. Wouldn't you agree? And since you definitely should agree, where do you personally draw that line?
