Seeing everyone stop at 15 makes me feel so old. :disappointed: Alright. Here we go. 5: Whatever Mom had on the stereo in the car. She would either have it on the oldies station that we had at the time (It moved around several stations throughout the years and eventually became defunct. :sad: ) or put in one of her casettes, which consisted of this Swedish singer called Evie who sang Christian music. It was more often than not the oldies station, though, I think. I sometimes surprise myself with how much I remember from that time when I hear an oldie that I used to love. It gives me a certain nostalgic feeling. 10: Classical music and Mannheim Steamroller, which is a great new age group mostly known for their rendition of Christmas tunes. I still listen to a lot of this, but during this time, it was quite literally all I listened to, especially when I was in alone in my room. 15: I started getting into the popular music station we have in my town (which has since degraded drastically in the quality of music it plays), as well as get records from my friends. I also watched a lot of music videos from Fuse during this time (before it went the same route that MTV did and became less and less about music). I have still retained my liking for bands like Maroon 5 and My Chemical Romance, but most of it I have since abandoned, and I'm kinda embarrassed to mention some of the bands I thought were cool back then. 20: By this time, I've started to get a lot of influence from this forum and started to broaden my horizons a bit. Radiohead, The National, Owen Pallett, Arcade Fire, stuff like that. Now, it's like the 20 era, plus so much more that I never even expected to find. It's remarkable, really.

OK, so I figured that since Emma could get advice about contraception, I could get advice on a somewhat related issue. I'm at my time of the month right now, and during that time, I have really bad cramps. Right now, these are some of the worst I've had. I took some Midol 2 1/2 hours ago. The cramps aren't as bad, but I now feel physically nauseous and a bit lightheaded. :sick: I've taken Midol before and not had problems, so I don't know what the deal is. Anyway, I was wondering if any ladies had some solutions for how to deal with our monthly issues.

WAT. :shocked: Now that I wasn't expecting at all. It feels like they released "Burst Apart" just yesterday. (Of course they didn't actually do that, but "Burst Apart" WAS just out last year.) What a lovely surprise. :D

I've been following this, even though I missed the Foo Fighters/Muse battle. (Not that it mattered, given that Foo Fighters won by 37 votes. D; D; D; ) Definitely voting Sigur Rós today, even though, for some odd reason, everyone else is voting Porcupine Tree. (Laaaaame.)

A girl who annoyed everyone on a different forum I frequent decided to delete her profile. I probably shouldn't say that this makes me happy, but given how unnecessarily rude she was to me yesterday, I can't help but feel that way.

Anette, I don't think you need to worry. It's mostly professional singers who sing that way everyday for extended hours who get to the point of having vocal nodes. I'm not saying it's completely impossible for non-singers to get them, but seeing as you don't go on tour and all that, you don't have nearly as much cause for concern. :nice:

Men don't have anything above falsetto. I don't know why you think that is, but it's not. Conversely, women don't have falsetto; they have what's called a whistle register. (If you don't know what that is, listen to Mariah Carey. She uses it all the time.) Anyway, lowering your jaw does give you more or a range because it's closing the throat properly. My vocal major friend told me that with classical singing, "If you have your mouth open to the point of you feeling silly, you're doing it right." Now, the question presented was, "Is it safe or not?" As long as you don't do it for very long, you should be OK. Singing too much in either the lower tessitura (chest voice) or higher tessitura (head voice) is damaging to your vocal chords. Singing incorrectly often is how people get vocal nodes that need surgery to have them removed.

There are people who will dislike you for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Of course, I knew people were like this in school, but I thought adults were above that. I guess not.
