  1. I'm happy that they at least opted for a large stadium instead of doing small venues like the Hollywood Bowl. Thank the Lord. I saw them at the Home Depot Center in 2009 and they had a pit. They really NEED to have one here for the Rose Bowl or I'll be so disappointed.
  2. To each their own, and I respect your opinion, even if I disagree to an extent. I feel there are fundamental distinctions between Germany, with an unfortunate history of oppressing, and say communities of countries with very salient history of being oppressed. I feel that if you took a walk in my shoes you'd get where I'm coming from a little better if you struggle to see my point is all. :) Glad we had this talk!
  3. They probably dont have any of the gear from previous eras, have prepared for their AHFOD tour at least in terms of stage preparations so they just decided to go with it.
  4. Ohhhh gosh yes! Hurts Like Heaven was so disappointing to my ears as well. :( Ughhh And the live version of Us Against the World was MIIIILES ahead of the studio version. Thinking of MX production just makes me very, very sad altogether :(
  5. Haha yes indeed! Ain't no shame in my game. Seriously though, its a very legitimate concern not only from be but many other South Asian friends of mine who happen to be die hard Coldplay fans. There are many bands out there that have properly implemented South Asian music/culture into their work in a respectful fashion. Death Cab for Cutie did it well with their track Pity and Fear with the usage of tablas, and Bombay Bicycle Club did it seamlessly with "Feel," where they sampled a very old Bollywood track. Their music video was of a South Asian wedding and every person in that video was Desi, none of the band members were and I really respected them trying to at least be cognizant or respectful. It was classy of them. Then there are debacles like Major Lazer and their video for "Lean On". Absolutely ridiculous. Ugh. Coldplay to me has been synonymous with class, so I'm hoping they fall on the side of the former.
  6. Well that was disappointing lol. The wreaths of flowers are called "haars" in Hindi/Urdu. The script written on the amplifiers is just "Coldplay" written in Hindi Devanagri script. source: me. I'm South Asian and have studied Hindi/Urdu enough to understand that that read Coldplay lol :) Here's to hoping there's no white man cultural appropriation debacle in the works. I'd hate for that to happen with my favorite band. IHeartRadio crowd sucks, it wouldn't have felt right for them to release a new song with such a weak response. On to the next. I would also prefer they release the studio version of any track before they play it live. I remember feeling very disappointed with the production off MX because I had so thoroughly enjoyed the live mix of a lot of MX era songs that were ruined due to poor production (Major Minus especially. That was such a bummer)
  7. I love that they brought back some crescendos, and piano/acoustic guitar. And actual drums! In the beginning I got a little wary with that basic electronic clap Will had going on and was like omg no please not anymore we had an entire album of this but when he started playing his organic drums again it felt nice; I still need more from him though. And Jonny's signature guitar sound. I love the dark chord they jumped to at the 1:51-1:55 point, I wish they brought that back near the end again, that was definitely one of my favorite parts of this song, especially the verses. You can tell this song was done for a soundtrack, I can totally imagine it incorporated in a movie scene. It felt very poppy at first but Im fond of the lyrics, you only really need 3-4 good lines for you to be content with the message and I think they hit that very well here. Along with that I think the crescendo sealed the deal at the end. The end part totally made me think this song would have fit well in some exploration scene or a movie like Into the Wild where the guy is so happy to discover so much about himself or the world. I don't think this will be that indicative of what LP7 will bring our way in honesty. Atlas was great and I loved Jonny's guitar but we all know that the song sounded completely different from what we were given with Ghost Stories. If they continue having build ups and crescendos like that or better I'll be a very happy camper. And also I really agree with what a few people before me have emphasized that I really want some songs with a heavier rock presence, its been far too long since we've had that. Major Minus was one of the only tracks that showed that off MX and before that we had a beautiful blend of that with Violet Hill/42/Yes/etc. on Viva. We need more umph, boys. Please bring it.
  8. Really? The first one? I still thoroughly dislike Princess of China, Up in Flames, and Another's Arms. I think those songs just did not cut it for them, not at all. I guess we can respectfully disagree. I think our boys have reached that point where quite frankly my dear, they really don't give a damn about what critics say anymore. You don't go off making Ghost Stories worrying about critics anymore haha. It could be considered both a good and bad thing.
  9. LOL YO THAT WAS ME! I haven't watched any of the videos of the performances yet but I might look for myself as that guy jumping up and down. I was absolutely LOSING it when they were doing A Whisper, I don't think too many people understood the significance of that until Chris pointed it out afterwards. I caught on to the F Chord Chris strummed for Don't Panic and I totally knew what they were going to play before anyone else. The people around me were like :dozey: until they found out. I have such an insane story for yesterday. I'm pretty sure its one of those days I can tell my future kids about because of how crazy everything was. In short, I met Phil, Jonny, and Will and got pictures with them! I snuck through the side door of the venue leading to the basement floor, bought a balcony ticket from someone and made my way in. Afterwards I moved by myself from the balcony to the center orchestra's 4th/5th row. I got emotional listening to all of those old songs, man. Til Kingdom Come made my day, I am SO HAPPY they played that. To know I saw them play Don't Panic is so awesome. I go to UCLA and had a midterm review session in Royce during the afternoon. I walked out, got up to the third floor of the building to look back and see all of the roadie trucks and supplies and saw a friend of mine who had a ticket for the show standing in the back. He texted me saying that Chris Martin had just walked by them and inside the venue while giving his daughter a piggy back ride. I joined him a little after. Not too many students or fans were chilling outside in the back except for a few individuals who were just trying to get their albums or instruments signed by the guys. A black BMW pulled up to drop Phil off and we had a conversation with him for some time. He affirmed that they were only doing these few shows for the entire album. This was it. They finish the Ghost Stories tour July 1st with London. I asked if something was in the works for the year after and he alluded to it as if something was in progress, although I forget his verbatim wording. Afterwards two other BMW's came to the back. Will and Jonny were in one and Guy was in the other. When Will and Jonny came out we all gravitated towards them for autographs and pictures while Guy slid through the back to avoid fanfare haha. Classic Guy. I went up to the third floor where some lecture halls are (I've had class on the floor here and there) and heard the boys sound check for some time from outside as well. They were soundchecking Magic, and Paradise while I was up there. My friend knew of an acquaintance that bought two tickets. He sold one prior so that individual would be his plus one. I was trying to purchase the balcony ticket he had for himself. The will call process was very strict so they put the wrist band on his wrist instead of mine and I was told to walk out with nothing for the time being. There was no guarantee that I would even get in at all so I was very anxious and rather sad, again. I sat out on this side door of Royce Hall, being a student here makes it a little helpful to know the building. There were a few girls that tried to flirt their way through to get a guy chilling on the balcony drinking beer to help them in. That guy agreed and opened the door from the inside and I was able to come in, meet the guy on the bottom floor in the bathroom, make the transaction of the wrist band and ticket, and made my way up. Bought merch. Ticket was for the balcony so I went up there for some time. I missed the majority of London Grammar, I caught them on the TV while waiting to buy my t shirt. I noticed the girls that snuck in but didnt have a wrist band or ticket were being escorted out lol, and afterwards they were guarding the side door to make sure others didnt come in. I went up to the balcony and had a seat on the second to last row, center right. I saw my friend down there in the orchestra with a vacant line of seats next to him so I decided to walk down during the intermission shortly before Coldplay went up to see if I could sit there instead. I tried walking through as if I knew where I was going in a rush, just flashed my ticket and didnt let them see it. The ticket lady just asked "oh, you know where your seat is right?" and I was like yep sure um what and just kept going through haha. If I was occupying someone's seat I would have just gone back to my balcony seat. Thankfully and at the same time to my chagrin, no one actually did. I'm disgruntled with Ticketmaster as a service, they did a rough job with this gig. I still noticed a decent amount of vacant seats. It was very disappointing, especially given the fact that I knew of so many friends and fellow students who were crying on the third floor listening to them through the wall, unable to get in. After some time they should have just allowed students to fill vacant seats. Chris started the show emphasizing that "its only us! its only us!" He was thanking us for coming the night of their album release. He emphasized how they were going to play a lot of old songs, and even some they've never played before, perhaps alluding to A Whisper. It threw me off that they just started with Atlas up front, made me know that this setlist was going to be pretty different and special. Til Kingdom Come is one of my favorites of all time, I'm just so happy they played that and Don't Panic; Don't Panic is one of the first tracks I ever heard by them. And A Whisper, such a low key track from AROBTH. Man. I lost it haha. I got a bag full of confetti from A Sky Full of Stars, Ink was good live. Oceans is really good live too. Midnight is much better live, the laser harps were so cool. One of the roadies gave some setlists and I got my hands on one! I snatched a pick from Guy's mic stand. A lady got one of Chris' picks. I kindly asked if she'd be willing to give it to me since I play guitar and he's my favorite musician. Her only explanation in denying was that nothing special was on it, there was no harm in asking I guess. (it was a generic Dunlop pick, I didn't care at all, the sentimental value of that would be priceless for me.) Afterwards I went to the back and only saw Phil as he walked out. He signed my setlist and that summed up one of the best nights of my life. I Ocean's 11'd my way to see my favorite band perform a slew of their old songs in front of 1,800 people in my favorite building on my college campus. My dream of an intimate Coldplay gig came true. Now if only I could jam with Chris one day haha. A guy can dream. :)
  10. Still sad because no tickets. An intimate Coldplay show has been my DREAM :(
  11. OMG IT SAYS I HAVE TICKETS IN MY CART BUT WONT SHOW ME ANYTHING ON THE ANDROID APP AAGHHH
  12. HOW DID ANYONE GET ANY TICKETS FOR THIS STUPID THING MY GOD
  13. I was SO BUMMED that I couldn't go to the Sony Studios shows. I go to UCLA so to know that there's a chance to see my favorite band in an intimate gathering the NIGHT of their album release ON CAMPUS would be such a dream come true. Fingers crossed. Getting nervous every day. :\
  14. Felt incomplete. Ending the song with the lyrics "to tell you your're chosen" didn't come off good at all. I hope the album has more for it I love the music. I do wish Will did more, though. All of these songs make it seem like Will is holding back on so much. Part of the reason why I'm usually so adamantly against electronic drumming Lyrics I didn't like as much initially but I do like the first verse a lot more now, it grew on me. Especially after Another's Arms. I hope this is just a preview of an excerpt of this song, because it feels very unfinished. I appreciate the attempts to be mellower this time around, but I feel they do need some major crescendos where a few songs explode on this album or it might end up rather flat.

The music is amazing, but the lyrics are rubbish. I tuned in on the streaming for the concert and my streaming skipped, it restarted while he repeated the "your body on my body" line and I was astonished. I hope this is not a recurring issue with this album, where the music is promising and makes you feel something but then the lyrics just frustrate you because they're so bad. This is no where near Yes, that song was brilliant, both music and lyrics combined. This just might be the worst song Chris has ever written lyrically in my eyes in recent years. So disappointed. When the music for this album is expected to have mellow tones, you need to understand that the lyrics need to be a lot better because people will actually focus in on them more. I can't believe this is the same band that wrote the lyrics to Prospekt's March, Cemeteries of London, Twisted Logic, Us Against the World, Til Kingdom Come, Warning Sign, and so on. It just puzzles me. Sigh. Praying the other tracks at least have poetic depth to the lyrics.
  16. Why the hell are the tickets at the Hollywood Bowl so freaking expensive? The Home Depot Center show in 2009's prices were amazing. The Hollywood Bowl always frustrates me :veryangry2:
  17. If you could just include the lyrics in the info of the video, it would be cool. Thanks
  18. I'd really appreciate it if you could do one for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. :)
  19. My only complaint is that it ends too fast haha, the second part of the song is beautiful. If it were longer, I don't know what I'd do haha.
  20. f-ing amazing on the first listen. Best song on this album. Looking forward to further analyzing its lyrics.
  21. ETIAW I didn't mind. I loathed the "I turn the music up" lyrics in the beginning, but after seriously listening to some of the other stuff I felt like Chris actually put meaning into it by using simple words. I think the song is decent, and really like it. When Paradise came out the para-para-paradise didnt appeal to me in the beginning, but I embraced it because I loved the music, and still do. Its epic, and you can still detect certain roots from older Coldplay (The main bass riff reminds me of Warning sign, the interlude piano riff is very clocks-y, etc.) But this song, i dont know. It just doesnt go well with me at all. The other songs are great in comparison to this. I know ETIAW and Paradise receives a lot of hate, but this is way worse in my humble opinion. Too many woah-oh-oh-oh-oh's, on and on , and on and on and on, and repetition of lyrics, an entire verse in the end of two lines. This was the laziest written song in terms of lyrics. This just talks about a breakup. Paradise and ETIAW's lyrics, although elementary and simple as hell, had more meaning to it. This is simple as hell and just talks about a shallow breakup, regret filled song about how one could have had riches but chose to separate instead. I will admit, the beginning lyric about "you're holding in your hands the two halves of my heart" is legit. Kudos on that. Cause you really hurt me Yeah you really hurt me. Repeat like 8 times. Seriously? And no, I'm not an MX hater. I will admit I find this to be their weakest era, but I'm still fond of many of the songs coming out of this album.
  22. Meh, I hated the song to begin with. This will honestly be one track I think I'll skip through. But of course it might grow on me. Paradise and ETIAW were WAY better than this song.
  23. Because of that incident a few months ago when Zionists were bombarding their wall with "Coldplay hates jews" progpaganda, simply because they posted a link of a few artists that made a freedom for Palestine song. Afterwards I've noticed that they restricted any fans from posting on their wall. Before that they had their walls open.
  24. Excited for UFO, looking forward to it more than anything else that I haven't heard yet from MX. I wish I could hear the acoustic stuff they wrote before the scrapped it all :(
  25. The last lyric sounds like "You're impossible to love." Edit: Nvm, i hear pour some water on now. :P
