MX Length
Aw man, I wish it was longer and had lyrics. The music we heard from Mylo Xyloto sounds amazing. Hopefully they can come up with a Mylo Xyloto ii like Life in Technicolor. So this will be the second album in the band's discography that had the album title's song as a short snippet. Parachutes was the only other one to have a short song.

UIF WORLD DEBUT - watch the video
Also, this obviously feels that it fits pretty well with the entire concept/narrative. "So its over....Up in Flames"

UIF WORLD DEBUT - watch the video
I don't know why, but part of the song reminded me of this song: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k59GT0eMl-E]I can go the distance - Hercules - YouTube[/ame] haha! A few things 1. I could BARELY make out anything Jonny was playing... The video may be terrible quality, but i don't see how this is something utterly tear-inducing...yet. Hoping to find a better video in the next few days. 2. The moment Chris continuously repeated "Up in Flames," I cringed. Too much repetition, on this entire album. Its absolutely no where near Clocks and Fix You. Not a chance. Lyrics made those songs amazing, and they each had a hefty amount of material in them. :\ 3. It feels short haha. If there was a point where they exploded (a la Fix You) in my opinion it would be freaking amazing. But its still decent. It has a lot of potential. I'm looking forward to the studio version of this. I love the organic, stripped down sound. Piano heavy, me gusta. And there's nothing wrong with throwing strings behind this. I've absolutely loved the strings I've heard from this era! It might be what I have the most confidence in for MX. :)

Its just a phase guys, just enjoy it (or not)
the_gloaming, I don't know what you're talking about. The Viva era was absolutely beautiful, that album was a masterpiece. That oracle response about how Paradise could fully represent this album made me cry a bit, I got a tad teary eyed. This is so baddd! :'(

The Title Makes Me Think Of...
I think while Up in Flames will be a song exclaiming disaster and quiet chaos, DLIBYH will be a softer ballad to make up for it. Not all the songs on this album should be in your face and loud as hell.

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
[ame= ] [/ame] I wouldn't have a problem with a female duet. But not Rihanna. She's classless, she's artificial, she's plastic. Her voice sucks, she's resorted to just having songs about S&M and all this other kinky sex crap. I've loved Coldplay because they were the exact opposite of what she stood for in the music business. They had class, emotion, and earnest music. WHY not Florence?! WHY not Adele?! Ugh.. I have yet to hear a Florence song I don't like. ^ That one alone is better than ANYTHING Rihanna has made. ANYTHING.

The Lyrics
are my biggest concern. Because so far through these singles (and even the other songs we've heard) I have heard very little lyrics that have left that "wow" factor with me. I haven't heard anything that has truly strummed the chords of my heart. Instead I've heard mostly poppy wa-wa-waterfalling, para-para-paradising, a lot of OOOOHS (Even in Major Minus, HLH,) a lot of repetition, cheesiness, (butterflies, chris. you're singing about butterflies) and overall lyrical laziness. I've opened my head to the new sound they're after, and after a while I've grown to like it. But the lyrics are one thing I dont feel right about. (of course there are a few exceptions, I love UATW! its a beautiful song.) And I know that Chris clearly hasn't been known for his genius lyric writing. But he has written countless tunes that truly resonate in the heart. Songs that, albeit incredibly simple, touch you. And there have been songs that have been complex and mind boggling. I haven't noticed that to be honest in this MX era, and its starting to become a red flag for me. I've noticed lyrics that would be ideal for the average 13 year old girl. But not for people who have also grown with this band. Not for people who became young adults, husbands, wives, parents, etc over the course of this decade, getting through the difficult moments of life by playing a Coldplay song. In Politik he sang "give me real, don't give me fake." Its felt as if these recent lyrics have begun to contradict that same demand we heard in a song ten years ago. I don't know, I feel as if I was slightly all over the place with this post, but its certainly the number one thing that has been irking me lately, and I felt like venting it out, because hey, someone might share the same sentiments as me. What do you all think? Agree? Disagree? I'm up for a healthy discussion. :)

Female vocal? ** UPDATED - It's Rihanna **
Is there some sort of petition we can start to send to them PLEADING that we freaking hate Rihanna, and dont want her to be associated with the band we love whatsoever? Im so frustrated at this cookie cutter maroon 5 bull.

What do you think of the new song 'Paradise'?
Haha I'll agree to a certain extent as well, because he has written work that has once brought me to tears, even if they were incredibly simple. And he has written stuff that is very good. AROBTH (the song) has amazing lyrics. the Viva album in general I found to have amazing lyrics. Just hit my heart, and I'm sold. Give me real, don't give me fake; even if its so simple. Clearly Chris has contradicted himself with this effort. He needs to realize that his loyal fanbase is not full of teenybopper 12 year olds, rather adults and young adults who have grown up with them. :(

What do you think of the new song 'Paradise'?
Lotus Flower was WAYYY better than this. Lotus Flower's LYRICS were amazing. The lyrics from what we've heard of this MX era are arguably mediocre. It was one of the only songs from that album that I enjoy, however, seeing I found King of Limbs in general to be incredibly boring for my tastes; and I'm a big Radiohead fan as well.

Expect to hear Paradise anytime soon today.
After a quick google search for the Paris performance on Tarata, I found this. http://luuuum.tumblr.com/ Apparently this girl was there, and she loved it!

Whats with the MX Haters?
Forget that. I love Coldplay, they're by far my favorite band. But I love them enough to criticize them if I feel the direction they're taking isn't good. If I didn't love them, I wouldn't care. My relationship with Coldplay is built off tough love, because seeing what they're capable of doing in the past and seeing the not so amazing work they've put out from this era just frustrates me. And the same goes on for other bands I'm really big on too. I love Radiohead, but I hated King of Limbs. That sound in general is one that just didnt appeal to me whatsoever. Things I hate about The MX era: The font. Its freaking hideous! What the hell were they thinking? In my opinion the entire artwork era of Viva La Vida was so amazing, I loved the splattered paint and Revolutionary theme. The poppy sound. The para-para and wa-wa-waterfalling just doesn't appeal to me one bit. It sounds cheesy as hell. Princess of China: The whole song in general sounds piss poor. 20 seconds of la-la-la-ing is lackluster. I only like the minor tricks Jonny throws in before they go for a solo thing. And I'm still considering that I'll be wrong, because the only audio we have available is off the Rock Am Park performance, the studio version may be a thousand times better. I'm gonna get a lot of crap for this, but hey, its my opinion. Just because its a Coldplay fansite, doesn't mean its absolutely mandatory for every single person on here to blindly love all of their work. With that being said there are still songs I'm very fond of (HLH, CB, MM, MTM, and the Paradise snippet sounded promising to an extent.) Regardless of my negative attitudes towards this era, its still something I'm very excited about, with hope that is slightly starting to dwindle. I can only hope that it will be rekindled with tracks that haven't been played yet, and that they'll win me over once again, because Coldplay always has. :) Disagreement is healthy. I'm for respecting differing opinions, as it'll make the discussion about this stuff far more interesting than just having comments that say "OH BOY I LOVE EVERYTHING, ITS AMAZING" and this  smiley haha. Cheers!

Paradise Clip! (YouTube clip now in first post)
To me it sounds like a Bass heavy, with minor adjustments, version of Warning Sign from A rush of Blood to the Head. Then the verse started, and I didnt think that anymore, and everything sounded alright, then Chris had to go with the "para-para-Paradise" line and it ruined for me to be honest. I'm beginning to dread this poppy sound. And no, this isnt a disgruntled fan annoyed with their desire to explore new horizons and expand the types of sounds they have. I loved Viva and the new sound it brought. This...not so much. I still have hope, but goodness, I hope my current sentiments are changed as soon as possible.

Favorite Catchphrase
"Glowing in the dark" will be in Paradise, and it's reiterated a few times in Charlie Brown. That might be another catch phrase for this era.

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
Well, the album's officially complete now. R42 just left another post with a picture of the usb stick holding the album contents. :stunned: Bumped into Rik Simpson. Tells me: "We finished the album at 2am". It's on this USB stick. Get ready folks! R42 :D

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
I don't think I've complained about setlists quite honestly (although I'd appreciate some more Parachutes/AROBTH material thrown in here and there ;) ). But really, I think I might hold back on hearing Up in Flames and DLIBYH if its out before the album is released as well. Nothing beats the adjustment and acclimation to new material after you listen to a Coldplay album for the first time. I dont want to ruin such a sentiment or experience if more than half of the material is already out there. Just my 2 cents. Of course knowing myself, and how I failed to prevent myself from hearing the festival material, I can see myself cracking to listen to these songs too if released early. :worried:

Roadie Update!!! - Up in Flames and DLIBYH make the cut
"Up In Flames feels the same to me right now. It’s immense. I first heard it when the guys were sound-checking at the iTunes show. Apparently, Chris had started the song the previous night, so it was less than 24 hours old at that point. It was hypnotic in its simplicity, but devastatingly, achingly gorgeous. The final version has lost none of this and is a masterwork of restraint. It hasn’t been crammed with a million ideas and embellishments. Every part is there simply to enhance the emotional impact. I can only predict floods of tears in every quarter." SIMPLICITY! :D I am excited. Some of my favorite Coldplay songs have been simple. Well, most of them have been. I have a hunch this will be one of MX's most organic songs. "It hasn't been crammed with a million ideas and embellishments." This kinda infers for me that R42 may not be fond of many of the minor sounds, overproduction, and stuff thrown into songs for this era. This will be no Major Minus or ETIAW, thats for sure. :) I hope it provides much of what has made Coldplay my favorite band. According to R42 it does! 1. Simplicity. Check. 2. Gorgeous and hypnotic sound. Check. 3. An incredibly significant, emotional impact. CHECK.

(It's out...) Countdown To Paradise Thread (Real time CHATROOM embedded in first post!)
Goodness, I hope Paradise makes ETIAW nonexistent and blows it out of the water. A legitimate chorus would be appreciated as well, considering every new song so far doesn't have one.

LP5 Announced - Friday August 12th: MYLO XYLOTO (Join the Party!!!)
The album has "took a car downtown" written vertically in the middle, slightly to the upper left. Its in very small text. Charlie Brown will be in there. "Paradise" is being referred to an anthem, set for release on September 12th. Sounds promising. :) CANT WAIT. LOUD NOISES AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
