could be for another band...tho i can't think of any band playing in Wembley anytime soon. other than Take That & Foo Fighters. highly doubt they'd be supporting Take That & it's Biffy Clyro who are supporting the Foos. so am drawing a blank there. & i think the posts were deleted cos of smart arse comments...? the 2nd removed post clarifying about the elephant sounds rather defensive imo. in which case i take it he really does read the comments to a certain extent...&, from the looks of it, isn't happy with some of what he's read so far. :inquisitive: tho i do also note that so far all the posts he's removed are "road trip" related... :thinking: nowadays, Man United just got beaten on Saturday by Wolves...so it's all over the papers here cos the bottom team in the EPL right now beat the top team. & that pretty much ended Man United's unbeaten run this season. which is why i'm even less amused than usual about seeing that smart arse comment assessing Gary based on which team he supports. + there's a pair of brothers from Belfast who are both playing for the club. but then, we traditionally have had quite a few Irish players & he knows about the rivalry with Liverpool. so he may not be supporting the club just for the Evans brothers. & you can probably tell that i haven't really grown out of my football obsession still... :dozey:

am SO not amused about the smart arse who posted on the SP FB page's post about Gary's latest Tumblr post (both of which he's now removed :thinking: )...declaring Gary is a pratt because he's a Man United supporter. :veryangry2: smart arse must be a frigging City/Liverpool supporter... :P

i don't blame the deers for constantly checking him out... :lol: & i'm with you!!! woke up to not just one but 3 new posts & the news that they're aiming for 20 songs!!! SQUEEE!!! 20 songs for 1 album is rather much...but i guess it's like you said. it's probably including B-sides. tho this also means that it might take a while still before this album's done. unless they suddenly go into overdrive & finish up on the other 10 songs by the end of the month. :thinking: tho at least i get to save my money up for a little bit longer. btw, i remembered that this was mentioned to me a few weeks ago...at a Man United game, no less...but anyone know about SP having any plans to play in Wembley sometime this year? cos i certainly didn't see anything about that...would think playing at Wembley's a big enough plan to announce on the website...?

for those who can't see the video Gary's linked to, it's a video of Perfume Genius performing Never Did live in a studio recording setting. there's a link to his MySpace on that video that points to http://www.myspace.com/kewlmagik so you can have a listen to the song (& others by him) there. no video tho, as far as i can tell. ...i think his singing style sounds kinda like Foals's lead singer's but the actual song melody sounds more hauntingly soul wrenching like Damien Rice. possibly.

i never knew that video game music's called "chiptune"...something new learnt! :) & my fave are all Square Enix games. Nobuo Uematsu's scores for the Final Fantasy series & Yoko Shimomura's scores for the Kingdom Hearts series. if you guys ever get the chance to see VGM/chiptunes performed live by a full symphonic orchestra & choir aka the "Final Fantasy concerts" or the 'Play! A Video Game Symphony' concerts...GO. frigging amazing stuff! with the video game cutscenes playing on big screens while the music's performed live.

oh, they change the names too? awww... & is that on top of the voices being dubbed into french voices? one of the best things about The A-Team was Mr T as BA Baracas & his "I pity the fool!" lines. :lol: & i think i might've jinxed it. since Gary didn't post today. :\

aye...& this time i woke up to be greeted by his 3 new Tumblr posts! i was like this :D practically all day long! :wacky: i was thinking that too, but then things wouldn't really add up logically, imo. for one thing, Nathan's birthday (based on the Wikipedia entry about him...cos i actually don't remember/know when their birthdays are...i blame my bad memory) is about 1wk before Gary's 1st Tumblr post & the announcement on SP.com. & Gary seemed to be in London still at the time. between Wikipedia & Gary, i'd trust Gary to know best when exactly his beloved Nathan's birthday really is. :thinking: ...unless this is all a ploy by Gary/SP/Universal to completely confuse us about when Nathan's birthday really is. :P i saw your FB status with that quote when i woke up (after i saw his Tumblr posts... :wacky: ) & i was wondering where'd that come from...then i saw Aurelie's tweet...so i finally went to look for the blog post! made my Friday too! :D oh...& that comment he made about only sharpening the image a bit. i take that to mean that Gary knows how to use Photoshop...& is a bit of a photography geek himself. :wink3: 'ello...welcome to CPing.com & the SP thread! :) (don't mind me & my smiling around...today's been a good day for me. aside from the avalanche of Gary-ness online.) i didn't see that thread...don't really know anyone there anyway, aside from Sam - but i got to know her from TTB's SP book project first. & Ying's on my FB & also in here now. so hardly check in there & that board seems to be quite a closed community of those who've been around for a while or knew each other from "the old board" anyway. i personally think the Tumblr thing's great since it seems that he doesn't have the time to be sitting down to write a proper blog yet is making an effort to let the fans know what's going on in his life. even if (rightfully) restricted to just SP stuff. anywayzzz.........just glanced through that thread & i agree with you, Jen...harsh stuff. it just brings to my mind what happened with that crazy French woman (sorry Aurelie & Virginie) after the TP gig. he's not obligated to blog regularly in such a personal manner as he tends to do. he's only writing obligation is to Q Magazine for the monthly track recommendations column, as far as i'm concerned. plus, let's face it, he's a "musician" occupationally & not a "writer/reviewer/journalist" anyway. i'd be more worried about why he's unable to write songs than his lack of blog posts...as much as i love his adorkable wit & nonsense & "pearls of wisdom" involving penguins of happiness & koalas of tenderness. :wacky: having said that, i think his problem (& Chris' too :P) is that he's trying too hard to come up with a masterpiece of an album for some reason. perhaps pressure from the record label or just his own competitiveness*. quit trying too hard, Gary! just have faith in whatever in the world it is that comes to that beautiful mind of yours...even if it's just thoughts of penguins & koalas. & a fear of sharks. :P * my theory on what might have set off his competitiveness to want to come up with a masterpiece for this upcoming album: a number of bands he loves came out with albums that went down well with music critics & the mainstream audience too (for some) last year - The National, Biffy Clyro, Frightened Rabbit, LCD Soundsystem. *lol* great to see you're all loving that hungover polar bear photo... :laugh3: btw, muzika, funny you should mention coffee! cos that's how i stumbled on that photo! it's from an article about how scientists have proven that coffee + aspirin is the ultimate hangover cure

well, i'm trying not to read too much into it. especially when i know that the hover effect is quite common on websites. but it was a thought. but if it's not about that hover effect, it might be a metaphor related to his name since he is "The Lightbody", as you usually put it so well ;), that technically means he can hover in the air. :D ....or it may not really mean anything at all. :P Yeah but on the other hand, you have a new post when you wake up :awesome: what Aurelie said!!! hehe it's like being woken up with a bacon sandwich & a nice cup of tea... :D

i'm guessing these are more to the US charts? because i'm speaking in terms of outside the US (particularly Asia/Southeast Asia where i grew up & lived for a long time). while i love Slide, if it weren't for the fact that i'd picked up a copy of Dizzy Up The Girl browsing around in a CD shop in Australia, i hadn't heard the song on air much or at all before that.

it's probably as you said...they're quite an underrated band. i think their big hit in their career is still just Iris. & it was more because of the exposure from being used in the City Of Angels movie than anything, imo. i still love their Dizzy Up The Girl album after all these years. haven't checked out the new stuff yet tho.

i can imagine it would get incredibly distracting/annoying after the 100th fangirl comment/marriage proposal... *imagines Gary with THAT annoyed look on his face looking at his Macbook* :laugh3: i'd still love to read a "best of 2010" roundup from him. but then it's starting to look like he really needs to focus on getting that SP album done. tho the good thing here is that it gives me more time to save up for when it does come out. :dozey:

haha...i dunno. i think at least the beach one is. or at least he claims to have taken that photo anyway. the rest (aside from the latest 2) he hasn't really said he took them himself. but regardless, it's very likely a different camera from the ones in the latest post with Garrett in the studio & the beach view. i think he needs Peter Buck around to push him! hahahahaha then again, Coldplay seem to be having problems getting their album finished too (Chris sounded well exasperated when i joked about that...which i now feel guilty about. :shame: ). come on, guys!!! get cracking!!! the world awaits... :\ yeah, i didn't bother with signing up for a Tumblr account too. just bookmarked it since i don't think i'm going to start Tumblr-ing anytime soon. & he never replies to any posts anyway...even on the forum. well, he did like once. but even then it was just a general follow up post, so i think he definitely never responds directly to anyone.

muzika, did you see his latest post? he is *still* not done posting on Tumblr! haha i said it on the SP FB post, but i'll say it again, cos i think it's so adorkable of our Gary! he's like a kid with a new toy! :lol: yeah, Gary's a geek for sure. but he's not much of a tech geek like Guy. & i remember the camera he was holding in the Japan tour diary video...it's just a normal P&S. not a Leica or anything super geeky. i think it's more to the iPhone 4 that you can get photos like that. didn't think of the iPhone cos of that interview where he showed his banged up low tech Nokia. & he pretty much said he doesn't want a phone that's like a computer. but i guess he could've used one of the guys' iPhones or someone else's. have you seen TTB's interview with Bradley? all the camera tech/geek talk! haha they lost me at the questions about lenses and films! :P

haha...that's a funny one you found, Anna! *fakes a deep Scottish accent* you'rrre in trrrouble, bohy. :laugh3: it was in the longer FB video of the Scottish Cup draw. James was saying something about his "beloved Kilmarnock" being beaten by Rangers just the night before. & he said his heart was beating when he saw the team he drew & saw the "C" as it was unrolled. just wondering what's the significance since Kilmarnock FC and Celtic FC are different teams. it's probably got something to do with the "Old Firm" rivalry, especially from that Scottish FA guy's comment in that BBC video you posted. (i have the man who's picture is visible in the background behind Simon in the FB video of the cup draw to thank for my understanding of the Scottish accent, including the Biffy Clyro guys' accents!)
