Rate the latest movie you've seen
Despicable Me (8/10, mostly for the well executed 3D scenes) one of the few 3D movies out that is actually worth paying to see in 3D...cos the 3D effects make it a fun movie to watch. particularly the end credits & the roller coaster scene. & it may just be me, but i got the feeling that Gru is like the movie's parody of Steve Jobs while Vector/Victor is Bill Gates... :P

Biffy Clyro
i guess it's a good thing the original colour's starting to grow out... :P oh! & Anna, i made a mistake on Twitter the other day (& your MM link reminded me of it)...it's their cover of Love & Sex & Magic that Jo Whiley was teasing the guys about looking really embarrassed singing the lyrics! haha bless them! :wacky: (age is catching up with me...my memory's bad...especially for stuff that i saw ages ago. haha) & i think i'm pretty sure that i love their cover of that Cheryl Cole song much better than the original... Daft Punk
yeah! & as your avi proves it, they didn't even need the costume dept to do much work... loving this track so far...the earlier tracks that were available on the Tron: Legacy website wasn't much. mostly atmospheric stuff compared to this full on Daft Punk track. :D

Using a Fucking Netbook
SueDeNimes' right, imo. firstly, what netbook are you using exactly + which OS? aside from the kinda cramped keyboard & the fan now making an audible whirring noise after about 2yrs' of travelling around with me & being dumped around uni/office/home/cafes, i'm pretty happy with my Asus eeePC 900. but that's also considering i played around with the factory installed Linux Xandros OS for about less than a day before totally removing it & installing Win XP instead...tho these days i've been running on Linux Ubuntu on it. but then again, now i'm thinking of installing Win 7 in it. :p so yeah...maybe netbooks are a pain to use...unless you've found/know which OS suits you best.

Music You've Just "Discovered"
White Noise Sound ...not a very recent discovery, since i saw them open for The Domino State in Bristol a few months back. but their debut album just came out last month. loving it so far.

INDEED!!! :D i note that his taste seems to be rather country-ish of late. ;) awww...there goes my excessively slim hope that Gary'd be at the Foals NYE party + DJ set in London. :( :P so NYC's where the SP party's gonna be at eh? great choice! never been to NYC, but i've been to LA...didn't like it at all. so i'm biased there. heh haha...i think it's just the Rock Band game. i suck at it too. & my friends & i resorted to playing together on the drums: 1 person on the drum pads & 1 person on the floor handling the foot pedal. but personally, i'd be too shy to play anything in front of them! :shame: oh...& the girl beat all the guys at go-kart! haha you go, girl! (tho it seemed to me like they weren't going as fast as the go-karts could go on the track... :inquisitive: )

oh...& i never thought he'd be able to make the time limit, but here's a grrreat video of Gary gushing about his fave album of all time (LCD Soundsystem) in 45secs flat: http://zikkir.com/et/46735 well done, Gary! :D (btw...i seem to have a funny feeling that it's been posted before somehow. but my memory is eluding me. so if it has been: oops!)

what...Barry White's stuff make ppl go to sleep? thought his stuff is more for getting it on in the bedroom... :sneaky: Coldplay's music don't put me to sleep, but my lil sis insists that most of it does. particularly the pre-VLV albums' songs. oh, well... :P *brain goes into meltdown imagining SP doing a Daft Punk-ish album* btw, i just (finally) got around to getting Roadie & thanks to the book's indexing, i skipped ahead to sneak a read about what Matt has to say about SP...hilarious! :D

Music you are ashamed of liking
i'd say "guilty pleasure(s)" would be a more appropriate title for this... & i have my fare share of Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys & Tokio Hotel in my music library. amongst some obscure bands' stuff & classic rock tracks. but i don't care. i like my guilty musical pleasures. :P

Glee
a bit late, i know, but is it just me or did the Britney episode feel like there was no real point of really doing Britney's songs? seemed to me like just about all the songs were covered for the sake of covering them & they were so random that the only way they could be fit in was through anaesthetics-induced dream sequences... the Coldplay covers episode better not be as random as the Britney episode! btw, i'd think that Puck, Sam & Finn would be the most suitable to sing the Coldplay songs. maybe Artie too. ..................but something tells me they might end up with Rachel singing Viva La Vida. i don't really like her character (she sings Broadway style musicals very well though...& is more suited to handling musicals' songs anyway). but y'know, her super excessively competitive character & the lyrics actually fit: "never an honest word, that was when i ruled the world" :P

Rooney signs new deal
^^ this! i've mostly been ambivalent about Rooney...& also Mr Big Ego Ronaldo (tho i'll admit that he's disgustingly talented). 1 frigging week's headlines wasted on what was basically a player throwing a tantrum at not being selected by Fergie (not like he was scoring at all in quite a while now...so it was a fair call from the boss, imo), disrespecting the gaffer, the club & his own team mates...& coming out of it with a 5yr contract + a huge pay rise. how many of us can get away with that in our jobs? hopefully his statement about the club (& hence his team mates) lacking ambition will get them to stop slacking off & dropping points for now + put more pressure on the Glazers. tho personally i don't agree with him that Man United lack ambition...fairly sure Fergie's already working on his next generation of fledglings already. Man United is not all about big name players only, Rooney. wonder how long he'll go before he gets injured again at training from a team mate's tackle after this week's nonsense... :P Eric Cantona + Fergie's Fledglings >>>>>>>>>>>>> Wayne Rooney (for me)

The Snow Patrol Thread
firstly, i'm not much of a Pablo fan (in terms of looks...personality wise he's such a soft spoken sweetie! :wacky: ), but that's quite a good looking shot of him! & that Wherefore Art Thou Pablo banter always cracks me up! the "lucky bunk" on the tour bus & Pablo's face palm reaction! :laugh3: btw, isn't Jonny just looking might dapper in his Reworked get up? :wink3: guess it's the same for me...i'd say about 80% of the bands that i like/love are from the UK & a fair share of them are Irish. U2, SP, Boyzone, Westlife, The Corrs, Cranberries, Damien Rice (& yes, i have my fair share of guilty pop pleasures...RE: Boyzone & Westlife. :P). but also like a few US bands...& Linkin Park happens to be one of them. haha anyway, you're right in that there's a different sound between most of the US & UK bands' stuff. Linkin Park, in general, are more angsty & heavier sounding & in most of their albums have heavy DJ effects-y mixing stuff (no idea what's the proper name for what DJ Joe Hahn does) going on...tho their recent 2 albums have a number of much much mellower songs (Leave Out All The Rest, Hands Held High, Waiting For The End, Iridescent). tho i do also think that the US has some greats: Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen, REM, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins. for the lesser known or indie bands, there's The National (England!!! Conversation 16!!!), The All-American Rejects (My Paper Heart = ), Lifehouse. oyah...& there's Jason Mraz. Sufjan Stevens too.

The Hobbit Is Happening!!! With Peter Jackson! WOOHOO!!
there's going to be Sir Ian McKellen returning as Gandalf & Andy Serkis as Gollum at least from the LotR cast. :) http://www.totalfilm.com/news/the-hobbit-in-talks-with-david-tennant as for DT, whatever his role may be, it so far seems quite certain it isn't Bilbo this time around. heightwise.........well, even if he were to be a Hobbit, these days there's always digital wizardry to make him shorter. tho he's quite lanky physically...not really the dwarf/hobbit build.

The Hobbit Is Happening!!! With Peter Jackson! WOOHOO!!
currently, the possible lineup for The Hobbit are Martin Freeman, David Tennant & James Nesbitt. tho for the latter 2, it's not known what roles they are in negotiations for yet. :D

The Snow Patrol Thread
haha...that's quite true of me too. at the end of the day i'll probably end up reading whatever's up on TTB or here. btw, there is a R#42 for SP...sort of...not on an official capacity or anything...from 2005-2006 @ http://atnz11.blogspot.com/ (i'm still slowly taking my own sweet time reading thru it even tho i found it a few months ago) cool! tho the website's being an arse & insisting i install Silverlight just to watch the interview... :inquisitive: & i think that's another thing that makes the experience more intimate...playing random songs just cos someone's requested for it. shows he noticed the fan's effort (in the case of a sign) or he's paying attention to the audience. :D anyway, i bet the guys lurk around on a lot of websites. i remember there was a video of a little boy & girl who got to perform on stage with the band for i think it was Set Fire To The Third Bar at a gig just cos Jonny stumbled on a video of them on YouTube & the guys loved it (according to Gary's banter in the video i saw).

Being made redundant makes you happier than being in a dead-end job
you seem to be implying that i'm saying it's great to be sitting around not having a job & being in debt. let's be clear: i'm not. & if a person were made redundant from a job they loved or thought of as their "dream job", then obviously they won't be happy right from the moment the news was given to them. & yes, looking for a job is in itself a job & not a particularly fun one at that. i'm merely saying it COULD be a blessing in disguise as in it could lead a person who is in a job they are unhappy in but for some reason (comfort zone or financial security) is afraid to move on to work towards getting a job they will love this time around. & being made redundant doesn't mean a job is really bad or that the person cannot get a job. i know people who were made redundant during the height of the recession but found employment elsewhere. plus, a job that a person is unhappy with is not necessarily a bad job for everyone else.

simply cos i'm a football (not necessarily a Brazil football team) fan: I LOVE HIS BLOG TITLE!!! hahaha i've only had them Brazillian barbeque buffets twice, but not in Brazil. & he's got the experience spot on (& the same for when ordering tapas...good food = over order! *lol*)! they are death by meat, i tell you! :inquisitive: & it's easy to forget that the only way you can stop them carving up more of the selection of very delicious looking meats (cos i love my meats...not human meat tho...haha...don't think i didn't notice that, Gary! :sneaky: ) onto your plate is to make sure your beer mat's on the red ‘please stop bringing me meat for the love of god’ side. :dizzy: obviously i didn't quite learn my lesson from the 1st time round, hence how i ended up having it again... :P wonder what in the world they did whilst hammered to end up with cuts & bruises & Jonny bearing paw marks. must've been 1 helluva night out... :laugh3: they must be partying it up big time in expectation of having to go into "clean living" mode when back in LA! & i agree with you, he seems to be REALLY confident about the next LP. :inquisitive: personally, i think the less i know about an album or how awesome it's going to be, the more i'll love it cos my expectation isn't sky high. but i suppose they've got all the experience/mentoring from the past 2yrs or so touring with the biggest bands around (U2, Coldplay), the stuff they've been listening to lately, & what Gary learnt working with the ppl that make up Tired Pony, etc. to draw creative inspiration from to make it a masterpiece. so here's hoping it'll turn out great! :D & yes, more nonsense...or just anything that's on your mind to blog about, Gary! :D

Being made redundant makes you happier than being in a dead-end job
i'm sure that it only applies if you are in a dead-end job that you're (obviously) already unhappy with. in which case being made redundant could be seen as a blessing in disguise.

i have 1 or 2 of the missing ones, actually. just need to work out which one it is & i can upload it somewhere then. ah, the Star Wars Rocks section of starwars.com! love reading the interviews there! :D from what i know (or can work out), Nathan & Paul & Gary are the Star Wars fans of the band. & Nathan's the bigger/biggest Star Wars fan of the 5. Paul collects Star Wars figurines too. &, well, evidently Gary likes Star Wars related graphic tees. tho he still can't beat my super cool Star Wars/M&Ms M-pire tee (it's the blue M&M as Boba Fett)... :smug: :P eh, wait...there are STAR WARS LOLLIPOPS??? :shocked2:

^^ haha...yeah, it is! i know that family loves going on cruises, but i'd have thought that that'd be even more reason not to have a bell that says HMS Titanic on it. :dozey: btw, Aurelie, is that the Union Chapel stuff from CD 3 of Up To Now? if it is, then it's kinda short of a couple of tracks, actually. tho the missing tracks are available from some of the AHMS singles or fan bootlegs. links should be in the SP MM thread, if they are still alive & kicking. there's some great banter in those Union Chapel tracks... :D
