  1. That little guy has good rhythm! :laugh3:
  2. Must include Amsterdam or I'm not going!
  3. If it's true that the Paltrow-Martins are moving to L.A., I'll bet it has to do with Gwyneth's plans. I wonder if she'll take more prominent movie roles now that the kids are older and will be in school. Chris may play Mr. Dad for the next year, while writing on the side. But then again, like all of us, I'm just guessing.
  4. I think I'm more surprised to read that they are planning to spend serious time in L.A. I thought the new house was just another added to their collection. If they do wind up making L.A. home, I wonder how the Bakery/Beehive will factor into all that. Will they head back to London when it's time to record?

I think it would be interesting if they changed their whole approach to writing songs. They've said that they had Glastonbury in mind while writing MX. I think that's what formed the songs, why they wound up so BIG (a lot of them anyway). The way the songs would play live helped shape them. How about if they just write songs that move them and let the live show take care of itself. I believe that if they have emotionally honest songs, they can trust them to play well live.

If he can be believed, that's what he'll continue to do.

I wouldn't be surprised if they take a longer break and I don't think it would be a bad thing. If fact, at this stage of their careers, I think it would be a healthy, smart thing to do. However, I don't think they will sit around growing fat & counting their money. I see them exploring things outside of Coldplay, getting involved in different artistic endeavors & pursuing different interests. I think this will be good for them and when they come back together, they will be refreshed & ready for more Coldplay.

I don't know what they will try next but I'd like to see them step away from Eno. I'm not one of those long-time fans who have demonized the Eno era, as I love both Viva & MX. I just think if they are looking for something new, they should start with a clean slate.
  9. I work in fitness so I am a tad obsessed with Chris's ability (or lack of during the Viva tour) to run, jump & sing at the same time. That takes a strong aerobic base and he's definitely worked on it for this tour. And it's quite obvious he's been lifting weights too because his triceps are lookin' mighty fine. ;)
  10. Amsterdam! Y'all are so freakin' lucky. I think if they had played it at my shows, they would have had to carry me out on a stretcher.

Yes, but I'm in Philly so that doesn't do me much good. :P

NO! Say it isn't so. He's talking about this leg, right? When Viva was over, I was ready for the next phase. I don't feel like I've played this one out. I'm not ready to move on.
  13. Chris said in the Howard Stern interview that he doesn't like Speed of Sound. And I've heard multiple times that Fix You is a favorite of many of theirs. Chris has also said how much he likes Paradise.
  14. Because Howard is a masterful interviewer. He always gets his subjects to open up. He has a way of making them feel like they are just having a conversation and not being interviewed.
  15. Hey, no need to beat yourself up. We all move on from things we once loved. Expose yourself to other stuff - music, books, art, films- and wait for something else to catch your heart. Even if you move on completely, Coldplay will always remain a little special, even if it's just an "I remember when..." kind of thing.
  16. And isn't that Blythe Danner between the kids?
  17. Hmmmm, I'll be in the Hamptons from 8/11-8/26. Maybe I'll see them biking around Amagansett. :P

    Good advice. ;)
  19. Dead on! Now I'll go back and continue living my incredibly dull life. :0
  20. True, the Oracle didn't say flat out, it's not Coldplay. However, I think if it was, that video would be gone by now. Remember when the VLV demos surfaced? They were taken down pronto.
  21. Perfect album. Here's a favorite of mine, possibly because I vividly remember hearing it live over the radio. I wasn't a crazy fan at the time. In fact, I was an emotionally raw young mom, trying to deal with a very difficult infant. Then this came on the radio and stopped me in my tracks. I called my husband and told him he couldn't come home without stopping to buy me the album. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkMGf2_NKvs]Coldplay-The Scientist (Acoustic) - YouTube[/ame]
  22. I agree. Coldplay have developed an entire organization to help keep fans connected. Let's face it, as they've became bigger and bigger, it became impossible for them to handle it themselves. Roadie 42, Prospect, Oracle, Anchorman are all part of a P.R. machine and it works. I remember an old interview where Chris talked about reading the local papers to get an idea what was going on in the city they were playing. When he mentions the local sports team do I really think he's followed their games? Of course not, but it tells me he cares enough to do some homework and throw one out to the fans. It's amazing, really.
