I am glad you think the same way about it as I do. I guess I understood your interpretation wrong because you said “if you don’t find happiness in wherever you are right now, you won’t be happy anywhere else.” A 'wherever' I just interpretated as wherever, including bad situations such as an abusive relationship. I think you are allowed to feel unhappy in such a situation and that you can be happy in a situation where you have escaped such situation. You now said basically the same thing (I think) so I guess that with 'wherever' you didn’t mean 'wherever', but just particular situations such as being more poor than your surroundings. Can you see now how we could not get the right thing out of what you were trying to say? Btw, I am glad you responded and tried to make things more clear. The original post just didn’t sound like this, but now I can go along with your way of seeing the lyrics and I even like to think of them in that way too.

Not only that, also saying that if you don't find it here (eg. in a house with very abusive boyfriend) you won’t find it anywhere (eg. get the fuck away from that abusive boyfriend). Does that mean that happiness is just a state of mind and you should happily smile when he beats again some teeth out of your mouth, because if you are unhappy with the situation it’s just because you are having the wrong state of mind? Kind of like this: nvdmm, I'm not a fan of the gaga, but I don't mind her music nor her crazy appearances, hahaha!

We used to have an exchange like you as well! By bus to Germany and then staying there for a week. And they came to us and then we also visited Amsterdam. I think you can have a good laugh strolling around in the Red Light District. From there it's easy to get to Dam square where the shopping street starts and from there you can walk to the West to the 9 straatjes (= 9 little streets) where there are little shops specialized in one specific thing, such as a whole shop devoted to toothbrushes. These typical canal streets are on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you are there, you are also at the Prinsengracht where you can find the Anne Frank House, Prinsengracht 263. Heavy stuff about a 15 year old Jewish girl who had to hide from the Nazi’s but died age 15 anyway in a concentration camp. She kept a vivid diary through which many can relate now how it much have been like. Very impressive. Back then we visited the Rijksmuseum and had a canal tour. I think the Rijksmuseum took too long and wasn't appropriate for 15 year olds (I was that age back then). The canal tour was nice, but with the cold now I don't know about that. Have a great time!

Tsja, ik heb veel gezapt. Maar als ik het nieuws 's ochtend aan het kijken ben terwijl ik bezig ben met ontbijt, kan ik niet zo snel zappen en laat het maar gaan om me vervolgens te ergeren aan de lengte van het item en 'no-news' gehalte imo. Bij een vriendin was het ook vragen om zappen, maar dat deed ze pas na een kwartier en met koffiepauzes op het werk is dit alles waar ze nu over praten, ook de buitenlanders. Om me nu weer af te zonderen van de koffiepauze ... dan slik ik nog liever die praat - al ben ik blijer als ze het niet doen! Hm, een buitenlander bracht het zo 'Ach als ze alleen maar lullen over een eventuele elfstedentocht, dan betekent dat gewoon dat er geen echt nieuws is om over te lullen.
