I'm here for YOULO.
THANKS! He even did it. Why he listens to you and not me :( :( I appreciate the effort but I think you didn’t understand what I was asking :S Heterozygosity measurement in population genetics refers to measuring the fraction of heterozygotes for certain loci in a deme (or population). This is tricky for several reasons. Microsatellites (SSRs) are, for example, known to be very diverse (can consist out of many alleles). Simply looking at heterozygosity would then give you an outcome closer to one, than if you’d look at more conservative regions of the genome. This does not mean that suddenly the population is less diverse. You also miss out on diversity of alleles this way, because one population can have only heterozygous SSR’s but each SSR could be biallelic for these loci, while another population has heterozygous SSR’s and one homozygous SSR. Measuring heterozygosity would lead to a higher number for the first population, while for all we know the second population might have heterozygous SSR’s consisting out of many alleles, what would make this population more diverse - in that respect - than the first. There’s more reasons why measuring heterozygosity is not the same as measuring diversity, but people just read a Wikipedia entry and think they know. Sadly peer-reviewed articles nowadays published using heterozygosity as a measurement (eg. Fst, Gst, Rst) for diversity are still more common than the ones using more correct measurements such as Jost D. So I was just wondering why geneticists are still making this (essential) mistake when wanting to measure diversity of demes (subpopulations). Why did I elaborate on this? :(

The Coldplaying Scrapbook II, info in the first post [THIRD ONE IS HAPPENING READ THAT THREAD]
Could be, a friend ordered something overseas and had to pay 40 pound extra ... for a CD. That's why I always take the risk when sending, although I realize that with this book the risk would not only be on me, but on every that participated in the book ... I dunno, for the scrapbook I chose a company that’s fast and can be held responsible for lost. I paid extra but thought it was worth it. If the book is lost now I find it an extra pity, because the last entry was never scanned/photographed. :’’’( Anyway, I still have the empty scrapbook that I bought when it seems lost last time. I can make a new one if we want. Just know on forehand that I will be one tough project leader then, bitching everyone to follow the guidelines as strict as possible, hahaha!

I'm here for YOULO.
Not if you wear a bathrope as I do or use the towel only for drying your body well. My bathrope is make from towel fiber :} When I still lived in a student dorm they guys walked back to their rooms in towels and they sometimes tried to pull them off eachother ... did not want :''''( Brend, why do populations geneticists still use heterozygosity as a measurement for diversity of demes???

Do musicians listen to their own music?
I've got some musicians on my last.fm and there's one in particular that regularly listens to songs made by him and his buddy. Most songs played by him are one's of his own band :blank: The others not so much. I heard them say they get tired of their own songs, because they hear them already too many times when rehearsalling/recording/playing gigs. I can imagine that with Coldplay it is like that.

It's back up to $9.49 now. Still cheap I think. Which album is $0.25 now? Oh, [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Hits-Explicit/dp/B000YMJA7I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1331539484&sr=1-4]Guns 'n Roses[/ame] :(

You know you're addicted to Coldplay when...
Wow, you're bestfriend with Chris Martin? That's amazing! I hope not too many people will be jealous ;) The man has a good heart, just like you. I am glad your nephew (I know stepfather of a boy named Chris) believes you :hugs:

women's day
I failed the women day :disappointed: I didn't know it was women day. My man asked me to cook him some nice food and get him some beers. Then female colleagues came by to ask if I wanted to join them going for a drink to celebrate (I had no idea what, they didn't say). I declined because I said I would cook for my man and hand him some beers. Later on he said the girls went for drink to celebrate International Women's Day and that he didn't know how to make up with me for that and that he didn't buy flowers because he knows I don't like that anyway so he came with nothing. I made him dinner and gave him some beers.... I think that was not what the day was supposed to be like :blank: Whatever, if women can do what they want, they can also cook for their man every day if that's what they want

Coldplay 'Regret' Naming Album Mylo Xyloto
Talking about the media blowing this up .... was listening to the radio and the DJ said "I will soon reveal which band admits to regret making their last album. Yes, how honest of them to admit!” And I knew he meant Coldplay and got a bit angry because this is not what Coldplay did. Then they played Paradise and after that he said “of course it’s Coldplay, but it’s more refined than that. They actually said they hate the name of the album and regret naming it like that because foreigners don’t know how to pronounce it.” Hating an album =/= hating a title name  Hating a title name =/= starting to regret calling an album something

What if you met Coldplay?
Who dug up this thread? Well, anyway ... I feel the urge to talk right what someone seems to suggest/misunderstand  I have nothing against Guy. I have something against you all the time saying that you know Guy's girlfriend. Stop saying that, because it's just a facebook account of a girl that claims to be his girlfriend, but you have never met her in real life, so it seems so naive to believe her. You misunderstood what I wrote on the Mew forum. I have several times explicitly said on there that I am a Coldplay fan. Especially when people were mocking Coldplay and their fans again. The only thing that you could have interpret wrong might be that I said I didn't want to visit the Coldplaying forum anymore because I got so annoyed by the big signatures. But then later I found out you can turn off seeing them when you log in, so I don't have to see them anymore.

Electronic music suggestions?
You mean Röyksopp? Like I mentioned just above?
-
Electronic music suggestions?
M83 has already been mentioned ... and Burial. What about Salem? (just found out about them) Are said to be a mixture between Burial and the Knife, The Knife I thought of immediately as well! It's that lowered down voice mostly. Spleen United I like very much myself. Electronic Pop. Stardust sounds very much like Daft Punk (I even thought that song was made by Daft Punk :S) Röyksopp might also be of your liking or Sebastian?

NUTELLA vs BACON
To be precise ... you're right :disappointed:
-
NUTELLA vs BACON
But isn't America a continent? (sorry, that was the point I was trying to make; US =/= whole America)
-
NUTELLA vs BACON
Nah, more like all the US people might say American. Other's like Mexicans and Nicaraguans and Ecuadorians and Brazilians usually just their country. At least I never heard any of those say 'American'. Eh, what was this about again?

If YOU Could Meet One Member Of Radiohead, Who Would It Be?
Hi MoonLife, if you want to introduce yourself on coldplaying.com, the best place to do so is the New Members section. <--- click link to get there :nice: If you want replies to topics started, it might help to be a little bit more patient. Not everyone reads this board everyday, so it might take days before people reply. Forcing replies by bumping the thread yourself is general not a good idea, because people get annoyed by too much bumping (including myself). I guess you know what bumping means, right? If no one replies to your thread, then maybe that's an indication that no one finds it interesting. It's better then to let it die, than to bump it and ask for reactions, because then you will most likely get only bad, hostile or making-fun reactions. If you want the respect of fellow community members here, try to blend in and don't get immediately defensive when someone has some critics. Be patient, don't bumb a thread when you are waiting for replies and people will like you more AND be more likely to reply when you have something to say. Also keep in mind that if you want replies, it is useful to post something substantial that would elicite (positive) replies. Posts like "hmmmm" don't really have any substance. Many in here also have a love for both Coldplay and Radiohead (including me). To satisfy our hunger for Coldplay, we visit the Coldplay section of this forum and to satisfy the hunger for Radiohead, we visit the Radiohead threads in WoM (World of Music forum section). I don't feel the need for more threads, there's already enough I can post in.
