The Coldplaying Scrapbook II, info in the first post [THIRD ONE IS HAPPENING READ THAT THREAD]
Shall I make a new thread for a third attempt of the physical scrapbook? Aside that one we/you can do the two-pages-sending project. New thread would start something like: Coldplaying Scrapbook Project III The idea is that we all make a creative entry in a sketchbook that will be sent around. This is not a new project (as you can by the III behind it :P), read these threads if you want to see how it took shape and how it went. In there you can also see scans of pages that people made. Each person can use two sides of a page in what way they want. If you want to join this project, send me an Private Message (PM) and I will add you to the list. A map on the first pages will show where everyone comes from. The book will also contain a list with name, username, country and the pages with your entry. Of course you don’t have to reveal your real name or country if you don’t want to. If you feel like decorating the cover to make it a bit more coldplay related/ prettier, feel free to do so. Don’t forget to take a picture or scan the pages that you made so we can all see what you contributed. I will post them in this post as well :) List of People taking part (If you want to be taken out of the list PM me) In order of where the book is going, purple names mark people that have received the address of the next person Mrk editor42 Phoebeo (I'd like to place people in here that were in the last list as well. I figured you would then get priority so end up high or even first in the list. So if you want to join again, let me know! New participants are welcome too, because none of the former waiting people have replied yet, you'd get the scrapbook fast) Pictures of the pages! And now for the guidelines, which I hope everyone will read completely and try to follow If there’s anything not completely clear, feel free to contact me or just ask in the thread! When you receive the scrapbook, just tell us on here that you got it. Then you have week to fill the two pages and send it to the next person. If you can’t manage in a week, we’d like to hear it before you receive the book and you can use another week. If around the time that you are supposed to receive the book you are very busy, let’s say that you are about to get married or to deliver a baby, well, then let us know in advance so we can switch your place on the list with someone below you on the list. This way the scrapbook doesn’t take too long to get from person to person. People are free to decorate the pages the way they want to. It does not have to be Coldplay related. I would also kindly like to ask you to leave your Coldplay limerence out of it. So no drooling over the Coldplay boys that would offend people. Minor people might receive the book, so please leave out things that you think would not be appropriate for their viewing. I leave it to your common sense what that entails. As you can see this is already attempt number III. The other two books got lost in the mail. To prevent this from happening again, I would like to ask people to double check the address they send it to. If you can afford it, I’d also like you to rather take the safe option than the cheap/fast option. If you don’t find it too much trouble, try to send it with ‘tracking’. This means that you can always track where your package is and usually get a refund if they lose it (although that would a pity, because no money in the world can of course replace the sentimental value of these great scrapbooks). Also write your (mail) address on the back of the envelope/package so that if the book gets lost in the mail they can contact you. Be aware that despite all these measurements, the book can still get lost. It doesn’t have to be your fault or ours. We won’t get mad at you. But if the book gets lost and you don’t say anything about it out of shame, or you don’t get us updated when we think the scrapbook is lost because you’re too lazy to care about this, then you will have to endure my wrath  I will bother you with PMs and e-mails to remind you how much we are still caring about this project and that we want to know what happened with the book. Beside username I would like to get everyone’s personal e-mail address as well (preferably the one you check most). I promise I won’t abuse having people’s mail by sending junk etc. It is only to contact you in case you have not visited the coldplaying forum for a while and not replied to Private Messages (PM) on here, while still having a hold on the scrapbook. So only if you are naughty enough to keep the book and not let us know anything about a delay or something, only then I will use your personal e-mail address. (To send you an e-mail, NOT to send your address to a spam agency, hahaha!)

PoC video
I still love the song and both Rihanna and Chris look great in it. I surely don’t mind Rihanna showing her ass, as some keep on bringing up back here, hahaha! The video seems a bit messy though. Of course a video does not need to tell a story - nor did I expect it to - and can just serve to enhance the underlying sphere of a song, but for me these snippets lack cohort. Maybe it's the editing, maybe not, but it disturbed me a bit. On the other hand, they managed to give me just that sentiment of a movie like Crouching Tiger/ Hidden Dragon (did you guys see the dragon in the videoclip as well?!), House Of Flying Daggers, Kill Bill, Kung PoW!, Drunken Master, etc... I enjoyed the scenery and theme. And still love the song :D  Personally I think the scenes with the many armes look more like inspired by a Hindu Goddess/Deity such as Durga or Lady Buddha like already mentioned here. If the many arms and long nails of Rihanna are supposed to be inspired by that white peacock, that seems a bit farfetched to me tbh. Royals or deities are more often depicted with long nails, including Hindu deities. Or evil women for that matter, like Lady Deathstrike in the X-men comic Notice how she also has some 'things' behind her that could resemble a peacock's tail as much as arms behind Rihanna :S Oh, and she used to be Wolverine's lover and fight ninjas! I would say that there's similarities, yes, but to go as far as say that the videoclip is inspired by Kung Fu Panda ... I think that both Kung Fu Panda and this videoclip are inspired by Kung Fu movies and the like (I know this is an open door, but okay, hahaha). btw, X-men is AWESOME!!! SO IS Dragonball (Z)!!! KaméHAMEE FOREVUHH!!! <###

Psssst Gloaming man, would you like to share a link to the mixtape so we can listen to the songs as well? The tracks sound interesting. Thank you in advance. I am still waiting for my mixtape maker to reveal him-/herself. Any chance it will happen soon? :)

To be honest I think it takes more time. Some people like me having a fulltime job and a household to run. Three days is not something I can spar a few hours for a scrapbook entry in. It also depends at which day of the week you receive the book. I think a week at least should be reasonable. People can always ask for another week if they get into troubles by exams or something. But I like your idea of already thinking up or even making a page before the scrapbook arrives.

Gwyneth...
Sorry to come back at this sensible topic, but I don’t read this thread everyday so I didn’t see it but now. I’ll like to add my two cents as well, because most seems to be misunderstanding and then seeing statements made like “Doesn't it seem a bit hypocritical from some of us that we don't wish for them to come out, but if they do, we'll enjoy it and even snap a picture while feeling guilty about the whole thing?“, make my fingers itch. Because for one; as much as it was/will be denied, this was a direct stab towards Tash. And now she doesn’t feel affected by it, yet it troubles me that the thing is said while this misunderstanding might not be clear to coldplaymum but also not other readers that just did not respond. The thing does seem hypocritical, but this is not what Tash wrote. She never said she does not want them to come out. She only said as much as that it is not up to the fans to demand this if we'd like so. What I think she was trying to say is that it is not justified for fans to 'claim' the band members and their children by saying stuff like 'they should bring them out once in a while for the fans to see how they're growing'. It is the 'should' and 'for' that's bothering me as well, because this makes it completely different from saying something like 'I like to see the children once in a while and see how they have been growing'. A seemingly subtle difference that's yet a complete difference. One that seems to be missed by coldplaymum shown by quotes like No, but you said they should take them out once in a while for the fans. And that's what kittybitty is referring to and Dianne and Tash as far as I understood. So I don't understand why you are thanking Kitty because she basically said as well that “there is no “should” when it comes to bringing the kids out”. I shall end this the same way she does sometimes, as if that matters, this is all just my opinion! But then again, as coldplaymum said some pages ago, most people here don't mind a bit of Gwyneth promoting. Come on we love her. I'm one of the 99 :D

The Coldplaying Scrapbook II, info in the first post [THIRD ONE IS HAPPENING READ THAT THREAD]
Okay, I can soon start a new thread about it with hopefully clear guidelines. First things first. A new pacticipant list. My suggestion is to continue with the one that Celien built up last time, because the people on there have been waiting long enough and it seems unfair to have them ending up somewhere below in the list again with the risk that they again will not see the book. What do you guys think of that? I will not ask Celien for their addresses etc, because that's confidential, so if people want to continue with this with a new scrapbook, then I'll ask you again for your addresses etc. People can then also decide to be taken off the list or be put on the list a while later (because they are busy or emigrating or something). ColdplayOlivia, the book will be send to you first then. Are you still in for participation?

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
It's on their official youtube site as well, including the part that you guys call dubstep. I think I'll wait and hear how it all will be. I don't believe they will go dubstep. Just a bit of influences taken from it, but not more than that. I actually think it will be good :uhoh: just like Exogenesis. :}

The Antlers "Hospice"
OMG. I saw them in april and then it felt like Burst Apart was their new CD as in just released. I can't believe they'll have a new one already coming up!

Apparatjik
I've got their latest CD. They kept the good songs on it, imo, because the draft versions differed a lot. It's good though not as good as their first CD. But still good enough to me! To get an idea of it you can also get their free first draft of the CD, that one sounds very similiar and you get an idea of the songs that might be on it. Hahaha! That's also what I was thinking when I read the whole thing.

If you guys want someone taking the lead who will be tough when it comes to the guidelines and to assure that deadlines will be met, I don't mind start/lead one as well. I already have a new scrapbook laying here (still from last time when we thought we lost it).

The 12th Mixtape Exchange
AAAAAAAAAAH  I love 'Dance' from The Rumour Said Fire as well! I see you put Kashmir on the mixtape as well. My favorite album of them is Zitilites. Funny how everyone has a different CD of them as a favorite. Ooooh, Danish stuff. I am such a sucker for that :} The rest has some unfamiliar things on it that I want to check out for sure. I will give this mixtape a listen for sure! Hey, how are the people with their exams doing ..... I am curious for more tapes! :D

The 12th Mixtape Exchange
First mixtape review of mine on here ... here we go Split the Sky I like the name of the mixtape. It’s already a nice start! 1. A relax start of the mixtape. Nice soft guitar that plays what sounds a bit like a waltz. Yet, when listening to the lyrics carefully this song is not so relax anymore, but gets a bit a dark depressing tone. Is this setting the tone of the mixtape or will I hear some more cheerful and/or heavier stuff on the way? 2. Nice, here’s the more heavy stuff. It sounds like an old song (old as in decades ago). Nice old-fashion typical guitar chord for a start. Short, simple way of a song. Nothing special, I don’t know if I like it... I have heard this song on the radio, but I don’t know what it is. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge with the guitar solo, chorus. The standard song structure. And yet at the end I find the song end too fast. I guess I liked it after all! 3. Rock & Roll. This guy seems to enjoy his singing. Uplifting lyrics. This is the more cheerful stuff :) Accompanying choir of some smooth singing ladies. I see some black ladies singing with him. Is this an old song as well? I don’t think I really like it though, sorry. 4. Creepy Crazy Witch is saying something creepy and then laughing evil… strange start of the song. I like that :P It made me smile. In the little silence I was wondering how it would continue.… then folk, harmonic singing. Is that a tambourine? Oh, and an accordion comes in later too, yeah, it gives it a folksy touch. The song is shorter than the time on my player says it to be. Actually I think this ending is fitting and it shouldn’t be longer. It’s good like this. I like it. 5. Ah, what a nice song! And what a nice voice that man has. I guess the band doesn’t show up so high on my last.fm because I have physical CD’s of this band and they are not showing up on last.fm. I love this band. They have such atmosphere in their songs. Although you hear a bunch of guitars, I’d say they are an electronic band after all. This is a great song. 6. Steady beat underneath the dark piano. Woman starts singing. 1:48h … oh wow, what a nice build-up right there. Nice piano track. Then I imagine I hear her walk out into the urban area? I especially like the chorus and the instrumental part after it. 7. Is it me or is the quality of this song’s sound output pretty bad? A classic song though. Can’t not know this one, when you listen to nowadays bands like White Lies and The Editors. I can’t believe that this song is so old! And when listening to this The Editors suddenly sound like such a rip-off. The dark moody singing. The dark moody bass. This is the real stuff. This is good stuff! 8. I was wondering if I’d would hear a New order, The Smiths, or The Cure song after #7 and #5 and then the next song came in. I know the band, but I must say that I don’t know the name of the song without looking for it. This guy’s voice and the music. He was just like #7 his time ahead. Influencer of so many indie bands. I am surprised that both #7 and #8 were making this kind of music already in the 70’s /80’s. Great lyrics. “He will never, never do it again... not until the next time” I like how he can sing through the music, how it’s weaving through each other and thereby making the song more interesting as it would be otherwise. I love the band, I love this song. You just made me look up their music again. 9. Slow start of the song. Female vocalist comes in. Dark lyrics. I have got the feeling this song is more about the lyrics than the music. I like the music nonetheless. It’s a bit jazzy. I am not fond of jazz, but in this song I like the touch of jazz. It’s eerie as well. A bit too slow for my taste, but I don’t know how this song would otherwise work. Hm, I have given it a fair amount of listens but I am still indecisive of what to think of the song. 10. I’ve got this CD. Played it many, many times. (I have put a song from this album in my mixtape as well :uhoh: ) In the end they build-up to the more typical sound of the band, but because of the slow and dark way the song sounds before the ragging guitars, this song seems to me a nice example of a nowadays band that is influenced by above bands. I like the difference between male and female on the mixtape and the dark/depressing tone the whole seems to have. There’s not really a happy exploding song on it (except maybe #3 and somehow that also happens to be the one song I liked the least of the mixtape), but I guess such a song would not fit in this collection of songs. There’s mostly old fashion rock/pop on here, I’d say, though #5 is a bit electronic. The weather up here was these last days pretty bad. Dark clouds split the sky with their thunder and rain. Fits the mixtape. I don’t know if the weather made me find this mixtape so fitting or that it is because of the weather that I feel this tape has an overall dark tone. As a Scandinavian music lover I guess I have the tendency to like moody songs and the songs on this mixtape fit in that preference. I wonder if you have peeked on the last.fm link I put in this thread. The quality of the sound of the songs wasn’t too good in some cases. The nice thing about it is that the songs sounded old to me, maybe older than they were, hahaha! (if that makes sense) My favorite might have been #7 or #8. It envoked my love for The Smiths again :} Thank you for that. Is this mixtape made by a guy my age, perhaps even from some northern region? Anyway, thanks for making the tape! I am curious who the other songs are made by.

touching yourself hehe
Wait, but how ... Mr. Kellogg would be so mad if not dead. Don't you people know that cornflakes and the like were invented as part of a natural vegetarian diet that would help people live their way with abstinence and temperance (he was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church). Oh, and by the way, Mr. Kellogg was an anti-masturbation campaigner as well. He wrote books about how to live proper, including how to deal with the urge of toughing oneself: "The operation should be performed by a surgeon without administering an anaesthetic, as the brief pain attending the operation will have a salutary effect upon the mind, especially if it be connected with the idea of punishment. In females, the author has found the application of pure carbolic acid to the clitoris an excellent means of allaying the abnormal excitement." Pure carbolic acid causes third degree burn wounds and can even cause death, 1 gram is already lethal.

2012 Albums Worth Listening To
^ Hahaha, it's okay, My Bloody Valentine ís f*cking great. And countless bands are influenced by them even with or without knowing it. And some are just bland copies. I know you said many others, but may I add some more influenced bands: The Big Pink, Snow Patrol, Garbage, Brian Eno, Mew, Glasvegas, School Of Seven Bells, Blonde Redhead, The Verve, The Raveonettes. Not knowing My Bloody Valentine when you're into music is like not knowing who Marie Curie is while you're studying chemistry.
