Three women, missing for years, rescued from Cleveland home
Suspect in Cleveland missing women case helped neighbors look for girl CLEVELAND (AP) - Neighbors say one of three brothers in custody after three women were found alive in his Cleveland home passed out fliers and joined in the search for one of the girls nearly a decade ago. They say the man also attended a candlelight vigil just a year ago to remember the girl and comforted the girl's mother. Ariel Castro and his brothers are in jail but haven't been charged in the missing-persons case. They could appear in court as early as Wednesday morning. A 911 call led police to his house near downtown Cleveland where the three women, who disappeared over several years, were found Monday. The women have been reunited with joyous family members but they remain in seclusion. A relative of the brothers says their family is "totally shocked." The three are expected to be formally charged Wednesday. link

Sorry, even with that version/performance, I'm still not a fan of Ingenue. I think it's the weakest song on Amok.

Waters off Northeast US coast unusually warm, says NOAA
Yes I think it's pretty much a stubborn American thing. Trust me, I find it annoying as well. Although it's kind of cool to say that I live in an area where there's usually a 100-degree temperature swing from the lows of winter to the highs of summer.

Associated Press Twitter account hacked, alarming tweet sent from account
Associated Press, 60 Minutes security hacks prompts Twitter to up security It only took hackers a few minutes and twelve words. The stock market plummeted $134 billion and the world did a double-take. Two days later and Twitter is reportedly making major security changes. According to Wired, Twitter is testing a new two-step verification process that they'll soon roll out to users. Users will now be asked to provide a second piece of information to verify their identity, as opposed to just a password. The hack also prompted a New York based web developer to create ismytwitterpasswordsecure.com . The site looks similar to Twitter's login page and says "In order to help everyone out a little we've created an algorithm that will examine your password and tell you if it's secure." But when users attempt to enter their info they are bombarded with a surprise. The site warns "No no no no no no no no don't be an idiot!" in bold font on a bright red background. "Don't ever type your password on a site that isn't Twitter.com. Same goes for Facebook and Linked In." It's a good, albeit brash reminder. link

Associated Press Twitter account hacked, alarming tweet sent from account
Associated Press Twitter account hacked, alarming tweet sent from account The Twitter account for the Associated Press was briefly hacked Tuesday afternoon. A tweet was sent out from the @AP Twitter account that stated there had been explosions at the White House and that President Barack Obama had been injured. The tweet was false and immediately AP Twitter followers began notifying the AP that it appeared their account had been hacked. It only took a few minutes for Twitter to suspend the account. The Associated Press then sent out a tweet on one of their other accounts to inform followers that the main account had in fact been hacked. The news organization also sent out a story on the wires about the situation, saying the hack "came after hackers made repeated attempts to steal the passwords of AP journalists." The DOW dropped 130.85 points on Wall Street in two minutes after the hacked tweet was sent, but the market rebounded quickly. The cyber attack on the AP is the just the latest to come in recent days. CBS News was also hit earlier this week. link

Explosions rock Boston
I'm baffled by the fact that he attended school the days afterward and gave no indication (other than maybe awkward twitter posts) that anything was out of the ordinary with him. Just got back to his life as usual. Fellow classmates had absolutely no clue.

Breaking Bad
 And remember, when he was at that restaurant it must have been his birthday because he made "52" with the bacon on his plate. Plus based on his coughing in the bathroom I'm guessing his cancer came back. And I'm gonna take a wild stab and say either his family completely leaves him, or they end up dead. Basically he'll be out for revenge/retribution, with nothing to lose. That's my guess anyway...

Explosions rock Boston
AP SOURCE: Boston Marathon bombs made of pressure cookers with metal shards, nails and ball bearings WASHINGTON (AP) - A person briefed on the Boston Marathon investigation says the explosives were in 6-liter pressure cookers and placed in black duffel bags. The person says the explosives were placed on the ground and contained shards of metal, nails and ball bearings. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing. The person says law enforcement officials have some of the bomb components but did not yet know what was used to set off the explosives. President Barack Obama said Tuesday the bombings were an act of terrorism but investigators do not know if they were carried out by an international or domestic organization, or perhaps by a "malevolent individual." link

Explosions rock Boston
Just got home and watched some updated info on the news. A Penske truck attempted to gain access to the marathon route shortly before the bombs went off, but was turned away by security. Police are currently attempting to locate the truck. At least one of the bombs had ball bearings inside (as reported by surgeons at a local hospital treating victims).

Should music fans stop filming gigs on their smartphones?
I think they should be allowed to carry on as they do now. The fans' level enjoyment, as a result of their picture-taking/filming/lack thereof, is up to them. Personally I know the experience isn't quite the same when you're focusing on getting a good video. I do try to get a few pics and videos, but certainly not the entire concert; I'd be kicking myself afterward if I didn't focus (only) on the performance for the majority of the concert. Although, I think it's rewarding to film inbetween each song, because you can catch little funny moments that hardly anybody else will catch on film. However, people should also be mindful of whether they are deterring from the experience of other concert-goers; this is where the issue can be a bit sticky. If other fans are getting annoyed by a person's filming due to the activity blocking their view, they should let that person know. If that's not photoshopped, I just... I don't even understand the logic, that's just wrong.

well hello there sir Can you bring Greg back with you too? He convinced me to get a National Geographic subscription well over a year ago so we/other people could discuss it, but I don't know if he actually did. :snobby: I think there was a thread about it...
