Will Champion to appear in Game of Thrones season 3
They showed him a few more times than what was just in that video. It was cool to see his name in the credits. lol at the end of the episode he was the only one up there that was still holding his instrument, while the rest of the band were holding... uh... other 'instruments'. He's like, "screw you guys I'm gonna keep drumming!" But yeah that episode... holy cannoli.

lol Hannibal can smell encephalitis (and opportunity) I knew there was going to be an alternate agenda once Hannibal told Will "oh I know a neurologist that you should go see."

Re-introduce yourself
No I'm not, I really do like turtles! :snobby: Although I did run over a huge one on the way to a Spelling Bee in high school. Big Buick was too big for the big turtle to handle. I was SO sad.

Minimalism
As far as whether I've tried it... I doubt that my current lifestyle would qualify to the level of minimalism as described on the site, it is certainly much "less" than it used to be. Similar to the author of the debt article linked above, I haven't had a car payment for over 3 years now, and paid off any credit card balances 2 years ago (I think I had always had some sort of balance since I first had a card). If I do use them it's only when "necessary" (i.e., a place that won't accept a check / debit card), and pay it off within a few days. Other than household expenses (mortgage/insurance/taxes, etc.), there's not much else. I don't buy pricey clothes, and I'm not into the "luxury-name-brand" purse(s) or shoes. I don't have a smart phone; my flip phone works just fine. Okay, admittedly I have a MacBook, but I plan on keeping it for as long as I can (and I only bought that when my previous dinky laptop was essentially about to explode). In general I just try to get new stuff when the stuff I have wears out. And going through the occasional purge/toss/donate session is very cathartic. I cannot underscore enough how liberating it is to not have unnecessary debt. Not to mention... it's the easiest pay raise you'll ever get.

What made you LOL today?
^ lol no That guy looks MUCH more like Moby than my hubby does. The only Moby-ish thing my hubby's got going for him is... he's white and he's got a very short buzz-cut. That guy at the festival was either 1) drunk, 2) high, or 3) both.

Minimalism
If you have the ability to do so, so to speak, then I think most people would ultimately be happiest with the "less is more" type of lifestyle. I suppose that aside from any initial hurdles in terms of making it work on a "self" level, one would also need to consider the impact on other people close to them. In particular, if there is a significant other thrown into the mix, I suppose they would have to be on the same page to make the pursuit of minimalism work. I must say I really like the discussion on (eliminating) debt; so true. Hmmm, very insightful, Tyler.

Some guy came up to my hubby at the Movement Festival (electronic music festival in Detroit), and asked him if he was Moby.

Movement Electronic Music Festival - Detroit
Unfortunately I was unable to attend Saturday, but was there yesterday and am heading back today. Other than checking out Soul Clap and Big Chocolate, we just kind of roamed around between the stages and other activities. I'd like to (at least) check out TOKiMONSTA and GRiZ today. Funny moment from yesterday... some guy came up to my husband and asked him if he was Moby (who performed on Saturday). lolwatno

Boards of Canada
Crazy, I was walking behind the stage and didn't even realize what it was. Maybe I should give them a listen...

Hannibal (TV series)
Yes indeed, I was on the edge of my seat! So do you think that Hannibal, in a momentary lack of judgment (which is a bit relative when talking about him) and tried to intentionally get Will killed? When Hannibal was having dinner with Tobias, Tobias outright admitted that if police/FBI tried to question him he would then kill those police/FBI (and then Franklin). Then Will stops by and admits he kissed Alana, who Hannibal is interested in (unbeknownst to Will). Hannibal then tells Will that he should investigate Tobias. Do you think Hannibal told Will because he was jealous of Will/Alana, and let that jealousy get the best of him and wanted Will out of the picture so he would no longer be competition for Alana's affection? Once Tobias told Hannibal (toward the end of the episode) that he killed two officers, Hannibal assumed one of them was Will and he seemed a bit distraught (i.e., realizing that it was his fault).

Gwyneth...
*I was the one that most recently removed it from your May 14 post after seeing it had been added back multiple times.* And no, I didn't notice that it was originally (buried) in the Chris thread; I was wondering where that came from because I couldn't find it in here! Thank you for pointing it out though; I have now removed it from the original (Chris thread) post. Removing it here wasn't because of lack of impartiality, it was because of having no frickin' clue where the original one was. So everything should be all set now. Please - everyone - don't post that pic (even twitter link) again.

Aaaahhhhh, last night's episode! I don't want to talk about it yet in case you guys haven't watched it yet. Post when you do!

Fan shrines
I have a few posters, gig tickets, other random items scattered about between home and work, nothing really all in one particular area so to speak. There are a bunch of vinyls on a shelf next to the piano, and then there is one little :bomb: memorabilia thing in a case all by itself. So I suppose overall I have a widely-scattered shrine of sorts.

Education
In the U.S. it is broken down into public and private education. Public schools being "standard" in the sense that it is funded by taxpayer money and children within that particular tax area would attend that school. Private schools being ones that parents pay tuition to send their child to (essentially those schools are businesses). Also, I suppose home schooling can be considered private. The reason why I'm mentioning the difference is because I've heard that the definition of public vs. private is essentially reversed in other countries, so I just want to clarify what I'm referring to. Many people tend to look down upon public education (even though it makes up the majority of schools), but I had a great experience with it. Public Schools Basics: There is elementary school (grades 1-5), middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12). There are multiple elementary and middle schools, and eventually everyone gets funneled into the single high school. Advantages: Low cost (just whatever you pay via your property taxes). Kids get exposure to plenty of other kids, i.e., learning social skills. All-encompassing education, extra curricular activities, yadda yadda. Disadvantages: On the flip side of low cost, some programs/elective classes may be cut because of lowered property values and/or population decrease. Typically, any such cuts are in music, phys-ed... anything deemed "non-essential". Employees are unionized, which from an economics standpoint is not ideal. Awesome teachers don't get paid enough, bad teachers get paid too much. Private Schools Basics: Structure can sometimes be like public, but often I think it's all grades under one roof. Advantages: Most private schools have smaller class sizes (more attention given to each student). What public schools might label as "non-essential" courses, private schools would consider absolutely essential. Private schools get funds based whatever parents are willing to pay for tuition for their children to attend the school, so typically they can provide anything and everything for their students. Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE; and parents still end up paying taxes to fund whatever public school district umbrella they belong to. On an individual basis, students won't stand out as much when applying to college, because most of them end up being on a similar level. The gap between valedictorian and the lower-performing students at a private school is much smaller than at public schools. There have been many "reforms" adopted in recent years in an effort to improve public education, but there seems to be pitfalls in anything that's implemented. "No Child Left Behind" has yielded unintended consequences. Because schools are feeling more pressure to have student performance increase each year (due to standardized testing), they focus more on the standard content and in turn cut electives. Teachers especially feel this pressure, and some have resorted to "fixing" student results before officially submitting tests. If I could change anything in regard to public schools, it would be to remove the union component for teachers. They get paid what they deserve; great ones get more, bad ones less (or get fired), and kids end up winning in the end.

Hannibal (TV series)
Just for him?!?!!! Wow. I'd like to get peoples' take on a few things throughout the season so far. In regard to Freddy Lounds and the time that she showed up in Hannibal's office pretending to want to be a new patient (but was really eavesdropping on Will's session), Hannibal sat down with her and after telling her how rude she was being, he said to her, "what's to be done about that?" I thought it would end up being an "eat the rude" situation, but considering that didn't happen, I'm wondering if they entered into an "I'll-scratch-your-back-if-you-scratch-mine" sort of arrangement? What do you think happened during that conversation? Also as a follow-up in regard to Hannibal's hyper-sensitive sniffer, the fact (implied during the dinner with Jack and Bella) that he was able to "smell" her cancer. During one of his sessions with Will, he asked Will if his headaches/etc. were becoming more frequent, and shortly afterward he "smelled" Will; do you think he was trying to smell out if Will has brain cancer (considering one of the cases they worked on dealt with a guy who had brain cancer)?

Hannibal (TV series)
Yay, I have some company! :awesome: I love the random references to The Shining too! At the beginning of the season there was that scene with Will and Jack in the big red bathroom, and then this week's episode (Sorbet), the crime scene was almost exactly like Room 237. Plus there's the random bold red influences throughout the entire season in the architecture and design similar to The Shining. And is it just me, or is Mads Mikkelsen's accent a bit thick? Sometimes it's hard to understand him. His accent wasn't quite that thick in Casino Royale.
