It ended a few hours ago. I've looked on youtube a little bit, and so far there is a little clip of a new song (just a quick instrumental bit), and a recording of Viva la Vida.

This thread wasn't meant as a "Let's worship Coldplay" thread; it was meant to be a thread where people who enjoyed the song could talk about it without all of the haters interfering with the discussion. Obviously that didn't happen. :wink:

This. If you aren't willing to accept that some of us like the song and if you are going to continue to attack us because our opinion isn't "as good as yours", then you don't have to post in this thread. No one is forcing you to.

I think it's ridiculous that people are "outraged". Coldplay has the right to release whatever they want. No matter what they release, there is going to be someone who doesn't like it. There's no way they can make everyone happy, so why should they try and cater to a select few?

I don't like the song because I want to like it - I like it because I like the tune, it's catchy, I like the lyrics, the guitar sounds great, and it's just a good uplifting song in general. I can completely understand that others do not like the song because we all have different taste. I just wish that the people who don't like the song would stop trying to bring the rest of us down.

Exactly, this morning I was almost afraid to post that I liked it. :uhoh: But I feel bad that Debs and whoever else is reading our posts are going to be put down by all the negativity, so we need to show them that there are many of us who are enjoying it!

I gave it a 7 this morning and it's really grown on me throughout the day! I can see why some are disappointed, but I think we need to shift our focus back to the positive aspects rather than focusing on our past expectations.

Because there are some of us out there who actually like it, and would like to have a positive discussion about the song.

I can't wait until June 25th now! If I can't go to a festival, the Glastonbury "movie" will be the next best thing! :dance:

I know you're not telling them what they can and can't write; what I meant was that some people on this forum seem to feel as if their expectations of Coldplay is the right one. They aren't considering how hard the band worked on this song, and they don't seem to realize that if the band wants to move in a different direction, they have every right to do so. I'm not going to lie and say that this is my favourite Coldplay song ever, because it's not. It's true that I prefer their old style of music, but I still enjoy their new music and I respect the band in whatever decisions they make. If you don't, then I suggest you keep it to yourself. How would you feel if someone attacked your work because it didn't suit their personal taste?

I do like what Eno did with VLVODAAHF and I'm sure I will like LP5. I just want Eno to go after that. :P I don't like the overproduced sound they have had since he came, and I'd really like to see where they would be without that kind of influence.

Honestly, I can understand that some people are disappointed with the song. But what I can't (and refuse to) understand is people who are actually angry about it. What gives you the right to determine what they can and can't write? Just because it's not what you wanted to hear does not mean that Coldplay is in the wrong, and it definitely is no reason to be angry!

It's the same because they sampled it. The original composers are credited.

I wish I could go to this...I love Coldplay, I want to hear their new stuff, I've always wanted to go to a big music festival but sadly there are none near where I live, I would live to visit Venice...AND June 9 is my birthday. It would have been perfect! :P

Don't get me wrong, I do like the new stuff. I loved VLVODAAHF and ETIAW is really growing on me. But I like the old stuff even more. I hope that this evolution comes full circle and they eventually go back to a Parachutes or AROBTTH type of sound!

Now that it's over, I hope someone posts some video from tonight's show! Were any Coldplayers there, or will I have to venture over to youtube? :P
