  1. Broken Bells Coldplay Foster the People Radiohead Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
  2. I have to say that the light fixture they have up there looks pretty flippin' sweet. And the snippet of that other song has restored hope for me.
  3. You guys thought Coldplaying's reaction was intense, did you see what happened when Taiwan's Parliament heard the song? :p [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfaNHtKkffA&feature=related]YouTube - ‪Huge Brawl at Taiwan Parliament‬‏[/ame]
  4. What do you mean 'how can you compare lyrics'? Of course different lyrics can be interpreted differently by different people, but that doesn't mean you can't judge the quality of lyrics, or that it is impossible for one particular set of lyrics to be worse than another. Would you say then that just because I can interpret the lyrics differently, that lyrics to Rebecca Black's "Friday" can be considered of the same caliber as "Careful Where You Stand"? Of course not. The point I was making in my last post was the Coldplay has done better than this before. Therefore they can do better than this. Bringing me to... I realize you like the song, but yes I know they can do better because they have done it before. Or do you believe that they honestly can't do better than this; that Every Teardrop is a Waterfall is Coldplay's peak? We're just disappointed with the song. We've waited 3 years through all the hype like you have. And like I said in another post, I'm not looking for Parachutes: The Sequel or A Rush of Blood "2" The Head. I was excited when they hyped up that the band were moving in a new direction. I was just disappointed when this new direction sounded like a David Guetta song with lackluster lyrics. Personally I dislike it, if this were buried in LP5 or was released as a b-side it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal to me but this was released as the lead single to the long-awaited album. Obviously there's nothing I can do about this though, except just wait and hope that the rest of LP5 is good.
  5. speaking of mr. beck, check this out: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVg7XV1AOu0]YouTube - ‪Freedom for Palestine Nazi Style Coldplay Terror Propoganda‬‏[/ame] complete with a good cry at the end! he does mention coldplay but i don't think he calls them any names, he does claim the makers of the video are 'being used as useful idiots' though
  6. was about to post the clocks vid, but you guys beat me to it! if a vid of a new song comes up i probably won't watch it though, i want to listen to it for the first time live in bilbao!
  7. This. Just because it's Coldplay doesn't automatically make it a good song. And just because I don't like it doesn't make me less of a fan. The reason why I'm a fan is because I enjoy most of their previous music. I'm disappointed because I expected better from them, and know they can do better. I agree that the lyrics are bad compared to other artists, but I disagree with the part about being on par with Coldplay's lyrics. Compare "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you and everything you do" with "I turn the music up, I got my record on, I shut the world outside until the lights come on". Compare "In a bullet proof vest with the windows all closed, I'll be doing my best, I'll see you soon" with "And all the kids they dance, all the kids all night until Monday morning feels another life." Or more recently? Compare "Oh love don't let me go, won't you take me where the streetlights glow?" with "Don't want to see another generation drop, I'd rather be a comma than a full stop." This is why I'm disappointed. And if you don't care at all about content or quality and just want a happy song, why don't you listen to Kesha? She puts out simple, happy, upbeat songs more regularly than Coldplay does.
  8. the band is always praised when something is good, and the producer is always blamed when something is bad... don't blame it on eno. he didn't write the lyrics, he didn't compose the notes, nor did he have the final decision in saying "okay, good work lets release this song to the public". sure he may have influenced the song, but in the end etiaw is coldplay's song
  9. double post. ill just use this space to post this: http://www.pbfcomics.com/archive_b/PBF246-Bee.gif
  10. To be honest, I'm disappointed. Lyrics (and title, artwork etc) aside, I guess I was expecting something more innovative. Sure Talk and LiT used pieces of other songs, but this is the lead single from LP5, and this is what we've been waiting for. I also heard somewhere that this is the album's closer, which I hope is not true. There's no way this could ever compare to Everything's Not Lost, Amsterdam, Twisted Logic, or Death and All His Friends. Hopefully this single is not representative of the whole album.
  11. No you're definitely not the only one, I am, and I think a lot of the other people who say "quit judging the lyrics before we get the song" are also scared whether or not they want to admit it.
  12. at a frat party last year. never expected someone at a frat party to play coldplay (especially with that stupid quote... you know which one) it was a nice surprise though
  13. I was just wondering--since Coldplay are a British band, why did they choose to spell it "Life in Technicolor" rather than "Life in Technicolour"? I'm American so I'm not super familiar with British spelling rules, but is it common to use color/colour interchangebly in British English?
  14. the one i went to was really mixed; i didn't see any old (as in elderly) people i think, but there was a good mix of kids, teens, college-aged students, and adults.
  15. I'm a fan of: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P54iLHkrtPA]Politik at the 2003 Grammys[/ame].
  16. Ever subtly referenced Coldplay in any of your assignments? What did the teacher say, if anything? I just snuck "questions of science and progress" in an anthropology paper haha :P
