  1. :sneaky:
  2. :laugh3: Indeed. Do you reckon it was a con all along to get a better contract? Or has he been given a sweetner with the promise that he can leave if he is not happy in a years time?
  3. I take it that you are pleased by this then? I would be if I was a United fan. The emphasis is on Rooney now to prove himself. This is win win for United. Rooney is expected to find his form, and his value has increased now you have no urgency to sell for contract reasons.
  4. PUNT This story is not the place for tasteless puns. Child trafficking is a serious issue. PUNT
  5. It is a huge topic which deserves its own thread. This will be talked about for quite a while. This place would be better off discussing actual football matters. It's only like you posting sex allegations in the news section - saves this thread getting clogged up.
  6. Dude, it has it's own thread. Keep up.
  7. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/9118602.stm Wayne Rooney has made a shock U-turn and agreed a new five-year contract at Manchester United just days after announcing his intention to leave. On Wednesday the 24-year-old striker said concerns over the club's squad strength were behind his original decision not to sign a new deal. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I'm delighted Wayne's agreed to stay." Rooney stated: "I said on Wednesday the manager's a genius and it's his belief and support that convinced me to stay." He added: "I'm delighted to sign another deal at United. I've spoken to the manager and the owners and they've convinced me this where I belong. "I am signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history - which is the reason I joined the club in the first place. "I am sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they have read and seen. "But my position was from concern over the future. "The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and it's up to me through my performances to win them over again." The agreement ends a period of intensive discussions at Old Trafford after Rooney issued a statement in which he revealed that United chief David Gill had not given him the assurance he was seeking about the future squad. "It's been a difficult week but the intensity of the coverage is what we expect at Manchester United," Ferguson told the club's website. "Sometimes, when you're in a club, it can be hard to realise just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand. "I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is. "I'm pleased he has accepted the challenge to guide the younger players and establish himself as one of United's great players. "It shows character and belief in what we stand for. "I'm sure everyone involved with the Club will now get behind Wayne and show him the support he needs to produce the performances we know he is capable of." United supporter Liam Bradford, who is the assistant editor of the Red News fanzine told Radio 5 live: "I'm completely flabbergasted. "It's been one of those weeks. It's been completely mad. "I don't know whether this has been planned all along and this was just some elaborate mind game that Sir Alex Ferguson was playing with Wayne Rooney on board or whether it has just been completely surreal for the last seven days. "At the end of the day, he is a world-class footballer and I really wouldn't want to see him anywhere else. I think I'm more relieved that anything he is not going across the city to the team that plays in blue."
  8. There was me thinking I was on your ignore.
  9. I wouldn't be writing Rooney off too soon. He'll be back to form eventually.
  10. Thanks everybody  This statement is correct. Greg Monk rhymes with hunk too. Amongst other things :uhoh:
  11. Haha, I wasn't, more lamenting my insatiable urges. But yeah, another hug will do fine
  12. Do you accept people who are homophobic? People who cover up child rape? Or even people whose tolerance of this allow it to happen? I think we are being quite lenient. We discuss things quite reasonably here, when we have every reason to scream at religions for how they poison this world. Whether it is the ridiculous belief that one part of this beautiful earth is more holy than another, deeply rooted sexism, homophobia, child mutilation, the millions of deaths around the world through the spread of lies regarding condoms or many many wars, tortures and unquestioned atrocities which have been let be so as not to offend the religious. We are not attacking anybody here. I have religious friends, I have had religious lovers, but throughout we maintain the right to discuss exactly what it is that we believe, without encroaching on each others personal freedoms. It has always been hard for them to defend the actions of those higher in the hierarchy of their church, and the things which they have done, simply because as a driving force, with enough people, religion just doesn't benefit people at all. I believe that it is religion which is the least tolerant. Not necessarily the individuals, but as a whole. Every religion (or at least major religion, this is leaving aside incestuous and blood letting cults) has a severe amount of blood on their hands. Forgive us at times if we sound a little patronising, but it's hard to watch everything around us being put in jeopardy when it's quite obvious that organised religion is a tool for control. I have no issues with people believing in a God, but believing in a religion is simply dangerous.
  13. :shame: I am forever destined to possess the loins of a 14 year old boy
  14. I do believe that there will always be bullies around though.
  15. :awesome: (6ft makes me the tallest person ever)
  16. What is your view on Melancholy Hill live? Somebody showed me the Jool's Holland version and I found it weary, but after hearing it a few times on the album I quite like it, for what it is.
  17. I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve by condemning those who agree with you. This is the way things are right now, as sad as that is, and things like this thread should be seen as an achievement towards educating people and dissuading them against mutilating their children. I'd concentrate more on those who are actually doing it, than arguing technicalities with those who are on your side. I can't see many here maintaining a 6 year old's attitude towards the male genitalia. And the difference between male and female circumcision in none religious circumstances and where it is not a necessity due to health reasons, is that the latter is specifically performed to reduce sexual pleasure. The former has the veil of hygiene over it, although this is eradicated by proper cleansing. It is this, however small it may be, which sets it aside from female circumcision, and this is why male circumcision happens and female is less common in the western world. I don't see it as a case of 'pussy on the pedestal', more lack of knowledge on the subject, combined with social norms of that culture.
  18. When I joined you needed a University email, but obviously this is no longer the case and I am glad it isn't. I have no idea how it would be enforced.
  19. Then try to help your brother before 'Kevin' makes you dislike him too.
  20. Under 16 would be a more suitable restriction I feel.
  21. People who bang their head against walls and hear voices in their head have a habit of snapping randomly. A psychiatrist would be the best judge of whether or not he would be likely to do something stupid. I strongly advise you to suggest he gets help. I'd even go as far as to say if he refuses it you should seek help for him. For his safety and those around him.
  22. Really digging Stylo. Sounds like it comes from Blue Lines (album) by Massive Attack.
  23. I can't make it that late. The latest I'm gonna be able to come to these things in the future is 10-11pm start. In fact that is pretty much the only time I'm likely to be free at all in the future to be able to make sure I can be at the entire show, or at least the majority. Good luck with it though!
