Online Courses
Has anybody ever done these? My friend has been doing them and he seems to enjoy them. I'm unsure of their worth, but this isn't my major motivation for completing them. I want to do them to occupy me and to learn new things. I've previously used a site called Coursera which provides courses from big US universities such as Harvard, etc. I've only watched the videos (of three courses - one on an introduction to sociology, one on evolutionary biology and the other on neuroscience and drugs). I'm about to start a course on edx.org titled Human Health and Global Environmental Change, but this time I will be actually taking part in the work, rather than just dipping in and out of the course materials. I also hope (in September) to do two other courses on that site. Does anybody have any experience in these things? I imagine a lot of people will be studying at school, college and uni and so won't have time for these things. If anybody has I would appreciate their input on how good they are. And exactly how meaningful they are, though this is only a minor point.

Daft Punk
I wish they hadn't come back. I'll just remember them as they were.

For the last few years I've wanted to go. How much do these things cost?

COUNTDOWN FOR THE BRAZIL 2014 WORLD CUP!!
I knew this was what it was going to be when I saw this thread had been bumped. Shame for all his family and friends, but can't help thinking (and maybe this is unfair of me) that given the driver wasn't charged (according to the Guardian report) then it was a bit of a foolish way to go.

Education
That's a lot more understandable.

Education
I often fantasise about what I could do if I had a memory. Then I realise it'd just mean I could get a better paid shit job. The things I'd actually like to do don't require any extra special form of memory skills.

Education
Well I wasn't going to post anything in this thread yet as I didn't have the energy to make a long post right now (but will do at some point), but when I saw that news story today it reminded me of sex education.

What kind of community do you live in, if you don't mind me asking?

Sex education should be improved dramatically in some schools. http://metro.co.uk/2013/05/15/man-reportedly-tries-to-have-sex-with-hornets-nest-and-dies-3760129/

That doesn't mean you are. I mean the whole concept and the potential social isolation it can cause.

Home schooling is weird.

That's awesome. If only the album had been good. Liking the artwork though.

Getting to know you (The Cping interviews)
The first question has come in via PM. Please send further ones to me. They are for Mr Lick.

The Official Club Football 2014-2015 thread
I think Watson and McCarthy are extremely useful bottom half Prem midfielders, but they may stay. Could be good signings for your Norwich's or West Brom's (I know there's a big difference between those two teams), or possibly some of the teams going up this season. Not sure if either would be the type to leave yet though. Think they'd wanna get Wigan back up.

Oh, and Platt follows Mancini out the door. Hadn't realised that until just then. probably not news any more.

Looking forward to going to Wigan away next season. Blackburn, Burnley, Wigan, Blackpool. Just needed a Preston in there and it would have been perfect.

Ask Anthony (Q&A)
How very convenient...

The Magic 8 Ball
Of course it isn't. They've been wank from third album onwards.

Give a brief description of the education system in your country (perhaps its failings and successes) and list any changes you would wish to make if you had the power to.

I don't think many are surprised. It was a pretty crap season (all things considered).

Works so far. That's not me making light of rape. Statutorily, given that a girl lied to me about her age (back when I was 17 - she was 15) I am a rapist. I actually thought she was older, given she was moaning that she had forgotten her I.D so might not get in the club we were going in. I only found out later that she was younger but it traumatised me for over a year. Fortunately she was not traumatised and given I was apparently far from her first nothing was made of it at all. It affected me a lot more than it did her. So er, yeah. Carry on.

Wowza. The Lounge is all about questions these days. Am I a rapist?

I tend to try and just keep things in my head.

The Sobriety Thread
I had a drink a few weeks back on my birthday. Only got tipsy though. 3 and a bit glasses of wine. That's now 5 glasses of red wine (spread over two sittings: 5th March and 27th April) this year. Going good and I don't get cravings. Got stoned about 5 or 6 times tops this year too, so averaging a little over once a month. And acid once. Overall not bad, health wise (to say I'm not on an outright ban of 'bad stuff'). It's only really alcohol I'm avoiding, too.
