Disappointment: Hurts like Heaven (the overuse of the vocal effects) and Up in Flames (I liked it better with a natural kick drum as opposed to the electronic bass thing) Surprise: Rihanna sounds great in Princess of China. Also, the gapless nature of the album! Oh and also DLIBYH and UWTB. Was not expecting that. So great. Edit: Oh, and Us Against the World nearly brings me to tears.

I really like it actually - it's pop-y, no doubt, but hey, Pop doesn't ALWAYS have to be a bad thing. The melody is really nice, especially at "I could've been a princess..."

God i love the way those vocal effects sound, especially at "How come they're out to get us...how come they're out when they don't know the facts?" So great.

Throughout the whole performance it seems like Chris is trying to be quieter than usual and it does weird things to his voice But HLH sounds great

I feel the exact same way. When they released ETIAW i was like "Huh." And after five or so listens, i learned to love it. The same thing happened with Major Minus, which i really didn't like at first. Now it's on my playlist of favorite coldplay songs. I fell in love with MtM immediately after the second listen. The only one that hasn't really grown on me is UatW. So, who knows what's in store. Hopefully i'll love some of the unheard tracks immediately, but if i don't, perhaps they'll just be like the rest--different at first, incredible later on.
