I think the contrast between the second and the third chorus (when Johnny joins in) is much bigger than we hear from the video we've heard. There is, for instance, much more contrast between the parts on Paradise (verse/chorus, for instance) on the studio version than when they perform it live. In other words, maybe the last chorus is much more "bass-heavy" on the studio version. Btw, I agree with the thing about the drums too.

Kill me if I'm wring or if you disagree, but is this song really bass-heavy, as reported when we first heard of the song? Guy joins in late in the song, so ...
  3. The first thing that is important: Practice. The first times you perform you should plan almost everything. Don't change the songs too much spontaneously. That way you can make the performance float better, and you don't need to think too much during the performance. Actually, I performed one of my original songs yesterday. It wasn't a very huge audience or anything like that (just 50 people or something), but I have performed in front of 200-300 people just some months ago (performing The Scientist). Anyway, I was a bit nervous about the performance. I think I learned something really important during that performance: Your own attitude pretty much decides how nervous you are. If you go on stage with a positive attitude (talk to the audience/tell jokes etc.) you wll be less nervous. I didn't use a mic yesterday, so it was a bit hard to sing loud enough, but sing close to the mic, that's my hint.
  4. Let the fans decide! I vote for 13 (or 20, if possible) :D
  5. Why is everybody convinced there are 13 tracks on the record? I thought it was confirmed that there were 10 songs on it. I haven't skipped any information, have I?
  6. Hope someone just kicks you out of the forum or something! Every teardrop Is A Waterfall is a great song and everyone should agree.
  7. Check out wikicoldplay.com. The ASCAP database has registered Us Against The World and Up With The Birds as two seperate songs. A good theory, though.
  8. It sort of reminds me of In My Place, with the riff that sort of makes the song. I don't think it will be a hit single on the charts but still a song that will be remembered maybe mostly by the real coldplay fans. Probably it wont be a single either, if we should believe the latest news. And also, just as you know it; they haven't released their best one for the album yet. Sure, the new songs are simply great, but will mostly be appreciated by the coldplay lovers and not bring a lot of other listeners. On every album they have released at least one song that clearly has been standing out (Parachutes: Yellow, A Rush Of Blood To The Head: The Scientist and Clocks, X & Y: Fix You, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends: Viva La Vida). We know (don't we?) that Charlie Brown, Us Against The World, Princess Of China, Up In Flames, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, Major Minus and Paradise will be released on the album. Paradise was chosen as a single late on competing with Charlie Brown, so it will sure be good, but not Viva La Vida-good. Despite the Billboard interview, I think Hurt Like Heaven will be on the record. That leaves us with 8 songs, which means we still have 2 more to go. We haven't heard much about the SONG Mylo Xyloto, but I have no doubt on this one either. The tenth one could be Up With The Birds, U.F.O. or another song registered (or not registered) in the ASCAP database (check out wikicoldplay.com). Just wait and see, guys. We're still waiting for the big hit that once again will bring coldplay to a next level.
  9. Viva la Vida on piano is a good choice. Then people can join in a the bridge, and from there you don't need to sing very much from there and to the end if the people are enjoying the performance. Lost? is also good option and not that hard to sing. Have you written any songs yourself, btw? Really a good opportunity to check out if they are any good ... Also agree that you should have one song from another band as well as two Coldplay songs. Sing With Or Without You or Don't Stop Believing or something like that. Then people will know the words. Saw someone mentioning Postcards From Far Away. That could be a good intro like Coldplay doing these days with the Back To The Future song or whatever it is ... You can play it before you even introduce yourself.
  10. Well, writing a good song isn't easy. They often come when you don't except them to come. I have written like 20-30 songs since Christmas, and I have written some that I really like. The first thing you should do is to find out the chords to the song. Then you must find a meody and lyrics to it. And my adbice here is: Don't plan anything. If you have a mic, just turn it one and try to sing some melodies out loud. The reason why you should turn the mic on is that you don't always write anything down, and it may be hard to remember everything. I also have the experience that the first melody or sentence or whatever often is the best one. For me a sentence appear out of nothing as I am playing the chords. And after this one sentence the song uses to write itself. Btw, I saw you said that you failed writing a song. I wont say that you can fail writing a song as long as you have something. If you have a bad song, you should still keep it. Probably there is something with the song you can use for later (like rythm, chord(s), sentences etc). Besides, if you just complete it no matter how bad the song is, you get a lot of practice. Practice is the word, dude. Don't give up!
  11. October?! Think I'm gonna do like Cartman and freeze my self ... Wake me up when September ends, would you?
  12. But the lyrics for Life in Technicolor ii wasn't finished at the time when they released the album. Will said during an interview that Life in Technicolor was a song that was tried with many sets of tunes and lyrics, but that they didn't really find anyone that was good enough before after the release, and Life in Technicolor for that reason became an instrumetal ... I know you only answered a quaestion, so don't take this offensive or anythink like that, just wanted to point out.
  13. The name of the EP is Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall EP. It's a bit weird with the single release and the album release, I agree, but still don't doubt that it will be on the record. Even though the album release isn't before September og October or something, the LP5 era har definetely started because of the festivals and all the gigs. Probably they realized that people needed a single or at least anything from the studio to introduce the new Coldplay era ...
  14. How hard is it to understand that they don't release a stand-alone single as the beginning of a new LP5 era? Of course ETIAW will be on the album - it's a single! Also, people think that Major Minus and Moving to Mars will be on the record. Well, think again! They are b-sides. Is it that hard to understand?! They have followed this pattern with singles and b-sides almost since their first record. Just listen to Moving to Mars, for instance. You can clearly hear background noise if you turn the music up. One of the biggest bands in the world would never record a song with that kind of quality and still put it on the record. The sound quality of Major Minus is good, but still just a b-side, even though it's maybe my favourite among the new songs. Us Against The World wont make it. On the other side, I think Charlie Brown will. I'm not sure whether Hurts Like Heaven and Princess of China will make it. 50/50 in my mind. Probably one of them. A last thing: Many of you base your song selection on whether they fit to the description we have got earlier (White Rose, grafitti etc.) Probably Major Minus is the song most inspired nby the White Rose movement, but that doesn't mean it will be on the record. That could mean that they were refering to this song when they talked about the album, but that the song simply was dropped out because it wasn't good enough. The album content is probably not the same today as it was in January.
