If Wyrd would be so kind, I would send her a pm with the link (lastfm says our musical compatibility is superb :D ).

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
Such a kind community of music nerds here, caring for each other. Thanks :) The funny thing is that I made an original tape which didn't get reviewed yet, but then I made one for Deirdre because she didn't get one from her original partner (and even did a second review for Cyan Kat because he didn't get a review either, so for a second mixtape exchange this is already pretty bizarre :D). I'm unsure about timing. Give my partner a last chance, or give it to someone of you to listen?

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
I'm starting to doubt that there will be any review in the future (concerning me), would be a nice surprise but I don't really believe that. At least I got one from Deirdre, then I'll just go back and read that again (because it's nice :) ). Feels like being the last customer in a bar in the morning, nearly everybody is gone but you are still there and wait for someone... Maybe as a last resort we should try to contact them via other media (if they have like a Facebook profile or something and are more active there but somehow ignore the PM's which some seem to do) while others like The Final Track are a role model of how to handle things :) Sorry for my late night rants :D

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
Warning Sign. Never actually realized how brilliant that is :D Listened to it yesterday as part of AROBTTH and resumed today, and the "when the truth is, i miss you" part of the chorus came one.

The end of the world, Gangnam Style?
Seems like an actually nice weekend. Washington being friendly and canceling on of their tests, North Korea has nothing really to contribute to further tension, and one South Korean worker actually got back over the border for medical care. Now only on the 15th April the 101st birthday of I think Kim Il Sung, the founder of their country, at the end of April the end of the US-South Korea military exercises and I think we should be back to normal.

People that are late: If you are late, but had terribly pressing things do with school, family etc. and are late because of that, we understand (that happens to anyone). Please just message DiOli05 with a short notice that you are late so we know. Then we just need patience, but thats OK. :) If you have somehow forgotten about this exchange for whatever reason, well.... Please just also contact DiOli05 and say that you're late and sorry, but will now write a review. :D It takes you only a short time for that message, but at least we could know that there will be a review at all in the near time. I bet you could make some here (me included) very happy if you at least said you are writing a review. And we know if you visit coldplaying but ignore the messages, so no excuses! :D

The end of the world, Gangnam Style?
North Korea actually surprises me. I thought already a week ago that they wouldn't find any ways of upping their rhetoric and threats every day, but still they do. Mister Kim-Jong Un looked so comic at first, with tumblr blogs devoted to "Kim Jong Un looking at things" etc...

By the way: Happy Easter or just a nice Sunday if you don't care about that to everyone! :) And especially to the wonderful DiOli05 for the awesome job of organizing! :)

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
Thank you Cyan Kat for that mixtape, although I think I couldn't have failed more at recognizing the artists. I've heard of of all of the artists before (except 4, 5, 20) and listened to Beach House before and even put something from the collaboration of King Creosote & Jon Hopins on my last mixtape :D And well, the Beatles and american-country.... I guess I need to do some serious catch-up concerning both "indie" things and classic things :D

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
Review (Reprise) I seem to spam this thread endlessly with overlong reviews or comments :D Besides making two mix tapes, I also agreed to receive a second mixtape because it seems they never heard back from the person this was originally intended for. But I know how many time one can spend in choosing tracks and order for such a tape, so it'd be a shame to not recognize and acknowledge the efforts of the maker. So sorry for not being the "right" person for a review, but I hope that my review is at least better than no review at all. :) Track 1: Starting with an older rock-track, I'd guess 80s given the way the drums are recorded. Perfectly unexpected and also unknown, as, me being not around at that time, I have absolutely no idea who this singer might be. It's otherwise a nice, upbeat rock song, making the introduction to this mixtape nice and happy. It's just the sound that I have to get used to a bit, but thats ok. Track 2: Quite funky! Like it! Seems like funk-influenced music tends to fall short in these exchanges, have to remember that for next time. The track seems to be called "1984" and has some strings in the chorus while the verse is full of 16th-funk-disco-drums, wah-guitars and something resembling a clavinet. A really nice surprise, full of energy and motivation for spontaneous, embarrassing dance moves in your (hopefully concealed) room :D Track 3: Here I've got the strange feeling of knowing this voice? It's a male singer, accompanied by a piano and some female background vocals, later joined by some gentle drums . He has not the typical type of masculine voice a man might have, but he still expresses emotions through this and it's not unpleasant to listen to. Could probably qualify as a soft ballad, but it's better than what you would expect regarding this term :D Track 4: A nice and gentle instrumental piano track, quite short, but transporting the mood from Nr. 3 to Nr. 5 Track 5: This one is more for the bright and big side of music. Many synths in the chorus, lush production, massive drums/percussion underlining this track. Certainly different from the others, but not worse. Still I prefer the more unique tracks preceding this one. Track 6: Piano again (don't mind :D ), and I must say I'm sorry but can't decide if the singer is male or female. A quite interesting song, as the piano is accompanied by an electric guitar which manages to avoid the typical clichés you'd expect in such a song and instead creates beautiful and unique melody lines. Really like this one, even if it's more for the musicianship than the voice ;) Track 7: Michael Kiwanuka (I never learned to spell his name :D ) probably? His distinct retro soul mixed with his unique voice. I normally don't listen to him that much, but in the context of the mixtape and all the other songs surrounding this one, I actually like him. Quite short also, with just 2:34 minutes running length. Track 8: A short song, with 1:40 minutes just between song and interlude, featuring a female voice, acoustic strummed guitar and some percussion. Nice, but because of the length not so memorable. Track 9: Final proof you have great music taste. Frank Ocean and "Lost" :) I don't mind knowing this track in advance because it's just awesome and always reminds me of his even better record. Great pick! Track 10: "Throwing my arms around" is the often repeated line of the chorus, together with a guitar riff dominating the track. I'm half torn between like and dislike, but with time I think will settle on the former. Takes a bit off time though to get used to his voice. Track 11: Really shaking things up here. I won't go around throwing names of genres (because I'm absolutely shit at that :D ) but that is one is really interesting. Female vocals, neither sung nor rapped, something in between, with a hectic (but good) electronic beat and some recurring brass themes, digitally altered. Really interesting, looking forward to finding out who that artist is. Track 12: A rock track featuring additional electronics. Probably a bit older so it's a bit of my prejudice going in there but being objective it's a good song, going back to guitars after the electronics. Nice track, just for me personally it's not perfect, but that is to be neglected because this whole mixtape was made for someone else and I think he would have liked it more than me :) Track 13: A bit of American country I'd guess, nice change. Acoustic guitar of course, accompanied by drums, tambourine and some occasional organ melodies, in itself accompanying a male voice, sometimes joined by harmonies. Pretty nice differentiation from the tracks before. Track 14: This one picks up the mood from before a bit, although with electric guitar and a more easily likable voice and some "rumbly" drums. Some harmonies in the chorus, really like this one :) Track 15: Another one of these interesting male voices I can't describe accompanied by something that has keys (whatever it is :D ) and, surprise!, a brass section in the chorus. Again something I didn't expect, but which I really like. It's also writen in 6/8, so you could attempt a waltz to it. A bit like Mumford and Sons without so much radio friendliness, another great track! Really looking forward to finding out the band/singer behind this one! Track 16: More quiet than the track before, this one has simple drums and features mainly a man, accompanied by again lovely guitar playing. A organ blends nicely into the background of the song, making this more relaxing without boring the listener. And another great track I'm curious about :) Track 17: This one also seems older, but I like it! Some "groovy drums", nice chords and some female vocals for a change contribute to an interesting continuation after the tracks before (if I keep saying that, it's just because this mixtape has a great flow!). Track 18: Hip-Hop! Now I'm seriously confused about your age, mixtape maker. From possibly 80s to really contemporary hip-hop the breadth of genres covered is quite cool. Really like this, can't place, but sounds a bit familiar to Azealia Banks or some of her fellow upcoming artists. Track 19: Can't say why, but this chap reminds me a bit of Alex Turner, himself fronting the Arctic Monkeys. A bit slower, with guitar and nice little synths in the background, but a really nice song. Instant like :) Track 20: I need a dictionary, full of suggestions of how to describe songs and your fondness of them. I feel so stupid using all these phrases again and again, but, what can I do? *sigh* …. A nice guitar, some organ pads in the background, folky but upbeat, not really happy, but maybe content would be best how I feel the atmosphere of the song. *sigh* Like it :) Track 21: A really happy song with mentions of "sunny days" closes this tape on a really sunny note. Perfect to describe my feeling after listening and reviewing your tape. When I was asked if I could review another mixtape, I said yes because I had enough time available in the holidays, but of course I was unsure of how well this would work, seeing that you of course had somehow completely different from me in mind when making the choices for this tape. I was therefore really surprised and happy that it still "clicked" with most of the songs and it was still fun the second time to listen and review a lot of new music. Except for some of the older songs, which is just a weird dislike I carry towards such tracks in general and you should just ignore because that's my own view, I think you did a great job at this mitxtape. A bunch of little surprises, from brass sections and waltzes to funky wah-guitars, I'm glad I said yes when asked about reviewing this tape :)

Thanks to Alien Radio, that was probably the most fun review I've read so far :D

***The official "Editors" thread***
Still remember last years Werchter livestream which was awesome. They did probably more stage production than ever before (well, playing for 70,000 or what?) and clearly enjoyed themselves. Excited for this year (even though I'll just sit at home and stare at my screen as opposed to being there :D) :)

New standard 'Coldplaying Reloaded' forum layout
I love the new colorful buttons and symbols, also the background image. Great job! The only thing I must admit I have to "adjust" to is the, what do I call it, beige or creme color of the posts. I do like it lighter (and everyone his own), but for me that spoils it a bit. But nice to see so many refreshments happening here :)

***The official "Editors" thread***
Hoping for a recording of the Lowlands show. The Dutch radiostation or whatever 3voor12 always records tons worth of concerts from festivals, and the crowds at Lowlands just seem to be the best, no matter what weather/band... That could become really awesome summer for all of us fans (together with Rock Werchter and of course ALBUM 4) :)

***The official "Editors" thread***
Are Justin and Elliot now official members of the band? Because in every press photo and the photos from Tom's twitter, they are always there. Have I somehow missed any official announcement? (I think it would be awesome if they were involved with the band and the songwriting, I'm sure there are some interesting new things they could bring in)

Now I feel guilty because the music on my tape is so much more mainstream compared to what I got :( But thanks again for that awesome selection of music, even when I read the names I only recognize Andrew Bird, Nils Frahm, Four Tet and Daughter... Now for a weekend of discovery! :)

Excitement building up :) That was just to memorable to not notice. Looking forward to finding out what song that is to read up all the lyrics :D

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
Review First thing I notice that all the song titles and artists are still there. That doesn't matter however, because I don't know a single one except for E.E. Cummings, who, if my memory is correct, should be a poet. THAT makes me curious! well done, my partner. After listening to the tape and figuring out that none of the tracks was poetry, I just assume that these songs are named after poems. Cool concept, that will give me definitely even more things to discover, because I quite like poetry if I stumble upon it, but it's somehow hard to find anything good if you don't have a clue about great poets etc. :D I also like the title of the tape, which is just "For You". Simple, but makes me smile. Thanks :) And apologies for this review, anyone besides my partner should probably jump over this post. Why so lengthy?… :D 1) A gentle string introduction called "The Journey". It's nice and although it doesn't build up much suspense or tension, it gives you a warm and relaxed feeling. I think that's definitely nice when you had a bad day, choose to listen to this mixtape and it's start of that way. Let's define a new music category and call it a "gentle hug song". :D 2) "Diagnosis" (so medical :D ). A mixture of electronic beats and a guitar with quite some effects on it, I quite like it although I think there are too many effects on the voice here. Takes away all human elements, although I think it could have benefitted from them. 3) Already one of my favorites. I love this song. Contains the lyrics "his massive genitials refused to cooperate, his seduction to construction" (does such a tape need an explicit rating ? ;) , :D :D I have no clue what it is all about (seems quite tongue-in-cheek), but it has an upbeat piano (even a clavinet at times I would guess)… so perfectly weird :D I can however only guess as to why the title for this song is "Empty Pitchforks". Please fill me in :) 4) Next follows an instrumental piece. Driven mainly by an repetitive (don't mean this in a bad way, it's more hypnotic positive) electric piano, it later adds drums and some nice synths. It seems that my partner shares a love for electronic music (which is great), but for some other genres that I listen to (which is even better). 5) One of these folk ballads which for me carries a hint of retro (think jake Bugg), which for one song I quite enjoy. And since this only one song, it quite like it, as it adds to the diversity of the mix. Mainly just a guy and his guitar, complemented by some instruments. Sparse, but good. Altough I enjoyed the others more (which will probably change after even more listens, but I don't want to make you wait too long for my review). So consider this a good song now and a great song in a month :) 6) Quite an interesting mix of an aggressive, kind of 80's electronic drumbeat with heavily distorted guitars and a voice barely to be recognized. Have to think of Radiohead (it sounds nothing like them, but they have experimented with voice and effects in similar ways). The most powerful song so far, and again, quite diverse. 7) More an interlude than a song, lots of space and reverb and a bit of music/voices in the background. Can't really judge something like that, just a nice way to go from song to song. 8) Just when I thought "please now a pause from that many effects", bam! This mixtape is reading my thoughts, or just really really well planned. Quite natural sound, a bass and drums and a male voice ("three white horses in a line?" don't know what to make of that, but he repeats it often), later a guitar make a good song. Most interesting is a kind-of-solo-interlude part, which is played on well, a mixture of a slide guitar, an ondes Martonet (radiohead fanboy :D ) and possibly singing in a way I don't know an english word for :D Also has a kind of shuffle feel to it, cool! 9) Ha, a song I know! Well I think I know it, but then trying to put a finger on it…, damm it. Sounds a bit like Patti Smith though or something, although that is unlikely because I have not really an idea of how Patti Smith sings and this song is a sort of ballad, electric piano (with effects ;) ) and lovely female vocals over it. Not the kind of rihanna-style-ballad you may now think of, but, for lack of a better word, the singer sounds more "mature", which makes this song (a) better and (b) more interesting. Really like that one, want to the name of the actual song (because here it is entitled "Always For The First Time" by Andre Breton, and I always thought Andre was kind of a male name :D). 10) Here we go with a more house orientated track, something a bit more familiar with. Nice beats, the kind of ones I love this type of music for. If I should put it down, it is probably best described somewhere between electronica, deep house with a bit of the direction Caribou for example does). Has a really simple, but really great (male) vocal line. Don't know that else to say about this song, but got into the favorites right after the first listen. 11) The next interlude, which I would put in the category of atmospheric. Not really a song, more a sound that helps make a nice transition from song to song. Won't write to much on them, just say that I really like your choice of interludes (and which I had found such myself when I wanted to include some on my own :D) 12) Second longest song with 6:25. And it contains: a trumpet solo! Didn't thing you could have so many surprises in a mixtape :) A bit poppy, stripped down acoustic sort-of song. Again I like the change from something electronic and "produced" to something that sounds nearly like a live recording. I enjoy both, so it's nice to have both complement each other here. Funnily, after half of the time, the song fades out, then back in, then at the end back out. Sounds like either a homemade mashup (which would be quite cool) or maybe some sort of hidden track? 13) Starts quite chaotic, with "random" (I know they are not) sounds and interviews (something political? a woman talks about her unemployment). Quite dissonant from a musical perspective and puzzling (after weird string noises it starts with an electronic beat), but I find it more interesting than annoying. And that has to be said: THANK YOU for taking the risk and putting that on my mixtape. I don't know if I would have dared it because you know, you never know how people react (what is that shit? that's not even music [probably too dramatic, but you get the point]), but for me that's really interesting. Waiting for a name :) 14) Another of one that is a bit strange at first, with a guitar and some nice harmonies. But it grows really well on you, I find it strangely relaxing :D I can't really make out any lyrics or even the language because there are effects on the voices. 15) A mid tempo song with a female vocalist, I'm again not really able to make out any lyrics. It's a nice song, would have been good in other circumstances, but considering the overall quality of this tape, it's just nice and does not really stand out. 16) Now onto the journey: nearly 9 minutes of "Sonnet XXV". Subdued electronic drums, synth pads and some sparse melodies make this a relaxing track, but without any dullness to it. It's a really great art to make a track of that length that is repetitive (regarding the drums), but overall really interesting and fun to listen too. Curious to find out who can make such tracks :) 17) Now to the "natural" side again, a male and female voice, accompanied by a guitar, something like a glockenspiel, a violin(!) and some percussion. This would probably qualify as a folk song, which makes me like it :) 18) Again something folky, a bit of accordion, some glockenspiel and female voice (with effects) without any real lyrics it seems, more just for the melody. It even gets a bit more energetic at the end :) It definitively sums up the mix pretty good. First thing: Sorry for me overusing the word effect. I just needed to describe the music properly. Otherwise I really really enjoy this tape, it has a fantastic diversity and great changes between "natural" things and "electronic" "effect" things (again). The only downside (which is really the only thing I could ever criticize on this tape) is the overall tempo which puts an emphasis mid tempo or slow songs, whereas I do like some fast things in between. So if you are in the mood for it, maybe before going in bed or so, this is really the perfect mix. Diverse, with sometimes funny, sometimes startling things and a nice gentle ending. HUGE HUGE thanks to my partner, you did an awesome job and exceeded all expectations I might have had :) Now there are two things I wish from my partner: A track list for all the awesome people featured on this tape, and answer to the question if these poems inspired this mixtape (or if he/she) just generally likes them. Because if any that is true, these guys will probably become my new 18 favorite poets :D

I will review mine on the weekend. Already got it, had time for some listening which made me quite interested :) But exams first, then time to write a review which will turn out too be full of "wow, cool what's that?" if the first impressions are anything to go by...

Well I understand that people can be busy and occupied, it was just a proposal. But you're probably right, that's a bit too far. To be clear:I don't accuse anyone here of anything! I myself know to well that I have been at times more than late... ;)

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
I could jump in :) (had so many songs on my possible-list that I have a lot that I couldn't fit on a mixtape). Would probably take about a day, but I don't want anyone to be left in the cold (even though sort of they already are :( ). Should we have a black list of people who sign up and then refuse to communicate in any way with us? Just to prevent this thing from happening all the next times again...

Didn't we 'review' the reviews? (we = the mixtape makers) To explain why we chose that song, what we think of the reaction of our partner... EDIT: What a cool indie mixtape :) Dan Croll, Peace, Kindness...
