Agree with all my previous participants. I'd rather wait a few days than get an "anonymous" mixtape.

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
Suggestion for those who are late: If you are late, it would probably better to send a private message to DiOli05, because if someone has submitted his tape, but has not got the one made for him, and you are the only person who says it's late... hard to figure out who's your secret partner :D That would probably spoil the secrecy and surprise...

Well, until I get my mixtape from my partner, I'm just going to listen to the one I made (which I have fallen in love with today, despite all the frantic last-minute adjustments :D). Beat that, partner! :D (I'm really open to anything, don't worry :) )

Just a note of cation for all those doing some perfections: Please consider your internet connection, finishing it does mean you still have to upload it. I know from last time that can take some time, depending on where you upload it, the number of songs etc. Getting mine ready for delivery :)

Hardest exam was today, now first of all relaxing. Time to get head-first into the finishing touches of the mixtape :)

What made you happy today?
Being tired because of a serious lack of sleep and then having a long school day where after 7 hours you only make silly jokes, but you and your friends find them so funny because you are all tired and have not one amount of concentration left. Silly, yes. But fun.

Well, I wish I could do that. But (as so often) my abilities are somewhat leaps behind my ambitions :D

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
Excited :) Even if it's (for the dismissive one) just some mp3s sent to another person, personally it means much more to me. And it's just my second time :D

Mixtape Exchange XIV CLOSED! XVI coming soon!!! Very soon!
I don't think it has to be 'new' music in the sense of just being released just this year or whatever. From what I guessed from the last time, there were quite some classics, but really underground-kind-of-thing classics in there, so I guess it just has to be 'new' to whomever you send your mixtape :)

Wish list for next era tour
I would like them to be less predictable. Not a greatest hits-setlist with a focus on the latest record, and not the same setlist every evening (bit longer could also do, but for me the first two would be more important). And, oh yes. Tell me you hate me for it, but I want them to drop their playback thing. There are lots of bands who add supporting musicians for keyboards or rythmguitar (Muse did that, Killers do that, even Radiohead got a second drummer). I just want it to be more 'live' than playing along to a precorded backing track. I see that for example VLV would be difficult, but they are like using on nearly every song which is too much in my opinion. Ain't gonna happen, just wishing for it.

Screw it. The backprint of these t-shirts looked for a moment like a cd-cover... wishful thinking :D (altough we have Live 2012, i'm addicted to concert recordings :D)

Will Champion to appear in Game of Thrones season 3
Isn't it some sort of besteller-book turned into american Blockbuster tv-series ? I associate knights and some kind of middle-age feel with it. But haven't actually seen or read anything of it, so don't take my word for granted :D

The 13th Mixtape Exchange - It's Review time.
Thanks to the great Radio 6 and last's years Mercury Prize I discovered that record which I otherwise would have (unfortunately) have missed. Because if you are a still pre-18 years ( :D ), you don't know really know King Creosote or Jon Hopkins :D

The 13th Mixtape Exchange - It's Review time.
My review-review for Destrokk: Now for my review, again its my first time and it seems like this isn't the first time for the person who did it for me, since it was so well put together and it even came with a cover and my username. That was such a nice touch! It´s really classy :cheesy: Well it was actually the first time for me too and because I didn't know anything about how the others make theirs I just put some effort into it to not be the laziest person at the end :D Track 1: This is a really nice intro, I was listening to Perfume Genius before and it sounds sorta like him. A very low and beautiful piano piece with maybe a quiet coffee shop in the background? Love it! This one has a funny Coldplay-connections: this track is from a collaboration of King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, and the latter was involved with producing the Viva la Vida album. I didn't want to start directly with a song, so I though this to be a nice introduction. Track 2: I had this song stuck in my head when I was school, I also loved this one! I don´t listen to this kind of music that much, but this is so nice that I could get into the genre more, she has a great voice and the lyrics are very sweet. Really nice guitar too! A really charming singer named Lianne La Havas wrote this. I love her debut record record, but some of the songs are more "soul" and this one is a bit lighter and also more catchy. Most of the album is about love, so if you like that it's definitely worth listening to. Track 3: A fun song, I also had this song stuck in my head. Loud drums and co0ol synths Exactly that! :D Track 4: This song is so sweet and cute  It's from a young woman named Lucy Rose who has recorded with Bombay Bicycle Club before. Again, if you like her you should really listen to her debut record "Like I Used To", great album. Track 5: His voice sounds so familiar, and so does the music. Like I´ve heard it in the radio before? this song is also just a fun, dancy pop rock song. It has some neat synths and like his fans are singing the chorus. Wasn't so sure about this one because it is really quite radio-like. But I doubt that you heard it in the radio before, it's a young American band named Youngblood Hawke. Despite having just modest success so far they've already such a Killers-style radio rock. But glad that you like it. Track 6: Ooh a rap song! the beat is pretty cool a clean piano and bluesy drums, and I like the message in the lyrics, The guy who sings also sounds familiar, that part was the best though, I´m wondering who he is. The basis for this track are one of the biggest instrumental bands called The Roots (you can also see them on Jimmy Fallon :D ) The rapper here is named Greg Porn and the singer in the chorus Bilal. I like this sort of hip-hop with live instruments. Track 7: A cool, quiet piano song with vocals that sorta sound like older Tori Amos? Also got this song stuck in my head, and probably singing it walking to school. It sounds sorta sad but then happy or optimistic in "I´m in love with everything". Really digged this song! This mixtape should have been called the RHCP mixtape because I managed to feature them three times, but in disguise :D This one here is from an EP by their bassist who learned the piano a while ago and he got Patti Smith to sing on this track which makes a really awesome combination and a quite interesting mix of styles. Just be warned, the rest of the EP varies between relaxed instrumentals and experimental electronic things. But if you like it, you can get it for free from his website: http://silverlakeconservatory.com/helen_burns/ Track 8: The intro is cool, echoey guitars or maybe a harp? and light sprinkle noise I´m not sure what instrument that could be other than a synth maybe or triangle. Then a hard beat like if someone is coming to get me. This is really cool, I think this is an interlude of some sort. I´d like to hear the context of the full album. And in between it has vocals of maybe a rapper? and it also has maybe a little bit of flute. It reminds me of like ancient China in war and I guess this is a fav  To hear the rest of the record is the best possible thing to do. This one is from a guy called DJ Shadow and his debut(!) …Endtroducing which holds the world record for the first album completely made of samples without any original stuff he played. But he has made such a dense and atmospheric record that is really worth hearing, even if it's probably the oldest song here (from the 90s). I just shortened it because the original is about 8 minutes long, and if you hadn't like it then that would have been quite a monstrous thing in the middle to overcome ;) Track 9: I´m seeing a theme here, most of the songs remind me of snow because it´s usually piano or quiet beats and great singers. This being one of them, also really like this song. A very short song. Well thats cool because I tried to choose a theme but ended up with only bad ideas so it does not really have one. This one is a band from Oxford which have just released two songs and could become quite interesting (if they can manage to do something else than the "sad verse - bright chorus" formula). Track 10: I think I heard this on the radio and they would repeat it, It´s alright. I think its Red Hot Chili Peppers? Never really liked them that much but they´re o.k. I again doubt that have you have heard it before (nothing against you :) ) but this song is just a B-side to one of their singles and these things don't normally get played on the radio (else you really must tell which station because that would be really cool to here such rare tracks on the radio :D ). Track 11: I really like this song too! its like those bands I make fun of (Keane, Snow Patrol) but its probably not them. It's similar but only a bit more unknown by a band called The New Union. As with Nr. 5 I justified a radio-track with the fact that the band is a none-radio-band (if that makes sense) :D Track 12: This reminds me of those quiet guitary dreamy songs from underground 80´s bands. But it sounds pretty new, diggin it! Melancholic, echoey and I´m not sure if its female or male vocals. Here we go again with RHCP. It's a band called Dot Hacker which features the new RHCP guitarist as their singer. They are like the side-project when he doesn't to play for 30.000 people but rather 300 :D And yes, he sings quite high and has a bit girly-voice and a lack of confidence I would say (which is sad) because there are so much effects all the time on his voice and I would prefer him a bit more direct and clear... Track 13: Sassy :o but its also really dreamy, especially the back vocals that are like ooooeey. But the guitars and percussion are like Gwen Stefani´s song Hollaback girl. Like ooh bitch im his girl and i will hollah at you. It has that kind of attitude. It's by a band called Friends (really :D). And I just wanted a contrast to all these Lana Del Rey attention lately because I think she is really romanticizing some kind of 50's women's attitude. So a bit "Sinatra" against the "facebook-era" or whatever :D Track 14: This sorta sounds like Sufjan Stevens, I really like it! Simple, but very pretty. It's by an interesting man named William Fitzsimmons. He looks quite interesting (bald, but with a massive beard )and has studied psychotherapy before he became a musician. Always a bit melancholilic and understated. Track 15: A sad but angry love song.. like its all your fault asshole  I like the muffled guitars behind the strings, thought her voice was like any other but it fits very well with the music. Also short. Just saw in an old thread that this song was also in one of the mixtapes of the last exchange, it's called Youth by Daughter. I just really like the lyrics of this one. Track 16: Ooh the last song! I´m seeing that you really like strings. It´s a really lovely song, sorta reminds me of Two Door Cinema Club. Unless it is :O usually by the percussion and his accent. As far I am aware, there are no string on the last track ;) But Two Door are from Northern Ireland and these guys here from Oxford. A really unknown band (they don't even make their living by playing music) but if you like them it is really worth checking out their videos (via youtube). The lack of a budget is completely irrelevant as they have some really great and creative ideas I can sorta imagine who it is, but whoever it is, thank you for making this mixtape for me! I thought that it needed just a teency bit of variation but still very lovely and I can´t wait to get the tracklisting to check out these artists. As this is my first mixtape too your guess probably wasn't correct, but I'm glad you liked it. It's interesting that you mention variety because normally I am the guy who goes from jazz to house to psychedelic , but here I took a bit more of a safe route. Now I just wish I had included more diverse songs, whatever... Already excited for the next exchange now :) Here is the tracklisting: 1 // First Watch King Creosote & Jon Hopkins Diamond Mine 2 // They Could Be Wrong Lianne La Havas Is Your Love Big Enough? 3 // Cough Cough Everything Everything Arc, but this record is yet to be released :D 4 // Bikes Lucy Rose Like I Used To 5 // Rootless Youngblood Hawke Youngblood Hawke EP 6 // The OtherSide The Roots feat. Thanks again to Rafael (already calling people here by their real names :D ) for introducing me to that music, I think now is some research time to follow lots of new bands etc. ;)

The 13th Mixtape Exchange - It's Review time.
Mixtape Review Okay, here we go: my first mixtape review: I got a partner who managed to delete all the song-information and made it into an own iTunes album so listening to it was very convenient . It also had a cover, some kind of light-reflections. Great effort has gone into that, compliment on that! :) Track 1:Great beginning :D. This song has a kind of comedic feeling to it, it sets you in a good mood. Starts of with a piano and a male voice which I like and has some (I think) deliberately overdone chorus things. A really "fun" song. But because he always sings "Some Nights" I always had to think of fun, which made it even more funnier because this song sounds absolutely not like them :D Track 2: Animal Skins by Dry the River is of course an awesome song, cool coincidence since they are not that popular and I get someone who apparently likes them (they were even in another mix tape, it's Dry the River time :D ) :) I love the 7/8 bars which are thrown in, if you listen carefully you can make them out (drummer's habit :D). Track 3: Here I have to start guessing because I don't get anything of what the singer sings (not even the language :D ). A bit of understated guitar (don't know why, but I think of these chords as french-sounding), a male voice and some quirky chorus synths make this a decent listen. Maybe I like it better if I know what this guy sings about. Track 4: Waste by Foster the People! A great song, love that chorus with the bells and these intro sampler/whatever thing. They always get this mixture right of catchiness and creativeness, Track 5: Seems to be older judging by the recording, my least favorite so far. Maybe I'm just to young, but this combination of music and melody in german would be what my grandparents listen too, can't really get into this one. Track 6: That one makes up for everything, perfect placement ;) It is an upbeat rock song, love these fast danceable kind of songs. It sounds a bit like Two Door Cinema Club with a bit more edge and less of these dance influence and more straightforward rock. The intro guitar riff is really cool, so simple but so effective. I again don't get anything he says, will be really curious about finding out what all these songs I can only "hear" are about. Track 7: upbeat song with driving drums and some fast acoustic guitar. Is only 1:43 minutes long, so not really notable. Goes by too fast to leave an impression, but I'm liking it more every time I hear it. track 8: "Deepest Shame" from Plan B's "Ill Manors". As I love that record, I love this song. Dark, atmospheric, but a bit more relaxed than the other tracks on the record. Would deserve a Mercury. Track 9: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds would be my guess. He's a great songwriter and singer and I really like his style of music. Brings a cool britpop-feel to the mixtape (any Oasis-fans correct me if this is not britpop :D ) Track 10: Some 80's drums, not to memorable chords and a bit cliche trumpet in the chorus turn this into a decent track. Not something I will remember, but I also won't skip this track on future listens. Track 11: Interesting song, the singer has an interesting voice. Bit of a folky thing in here with an ukulele and accordion. Also adds a definitely more interesting brass section than nr.10. I like it and it's also a nice contrast to the electric songs (not that I don't like them, it's just more diverse this way). At 5:43 the second longest track here, but its really worth the time. Track 12: Catchy, but the kind of catchy I like :D Again in a different language which I like because I didn't really expect to be introduced into such new territory (regionally). Strong chorus, really enjoy this one. Need to get a track listing because I honestly will never figure out the artist otherwise :D Track 13: I've got the really strange feeling of having heard this track before, but I can't really remember when. More synth-loaden than the tracks before, but not in a bad way. The only thing bothering me is the dominant synth riff which is repeated throughout the song: if you like, good but if you don't like it, well then you hear it every 20 seconds which makes it a bit harder to listen to. Would be put it in the middle of enjoyable and annoying. Track 14: Bracing myself for nearly seven minutes, the longest track. First of all thanks for including that, I normally keep such long tracks to myself because I bore everyone else who isn't that into music but I find it really cool (and somewhat brave) to include it. I am really getting used to this language whichever it is. Halfway through the song there are some spoken words and then some effect loaden things/synths/samples which then bubble along in the background. Perhaps my favorite track because its so weird (even with a piano solo at the end, combined with funky drum fills). And I just noticed that it seems to be a double bass being played in the song. Thanks for that one :) Track 15: I love these combination of songs I like and know and songs I don't know (even if that was unintentional). I love Bon Iver, and if I am not mistaken this song is Hinnom, TX. Great record and fits really good in here. Track 16: Some acoustic guitar fingerpicking, going a bit folky again. But I like mind men singing in harmonies (see nr.2) and therefore really like this song. A great ending to a great mix tape So thank you to whoever made this mix tape, I really enjoyed and will enjoy listening to it in the future. A great introduction to the coldplay mixtape exchange as this was my first time and a special thanks for including so many songs of your language (?) which is really interesting, just listening to music and judging it just by the sound and without lyrics.

The 13th Mixtape Exchange - It's Review time.
I am sorry, my mixtape gonna be late because my bandwith is ultra-slow at the moment. Uploading it tomorrow as soon as I get up, I promise.
