  1. This. Oh and your album really has a whopping 19 tracks, count again, you cheater.
  2. I'm pretty sure I made an album-like playlist with 13 songs I think, on my previous computer's iTunes. I never really listened to it though, maybe only one. That was before MX. It was kind of based on the idea of having the best track no.1, best track no.2 etc. of any album, but still trying to balance all four albums. It started like this... Politik Cemeteries Of London Spies ...
  3. The cover booklet is a lot of fun. I prefer MX, but my brother keeps changing it to the other one, so I have to change it back. But for now I've settled for XW.
  4. I can. But fortunately that's not going to happen. He'd miss Jonny.
  5. Nah, I think he moved on. He wants to be Bruce Springsteen now.
  6. Why is there no like-button on this forum, so I don't have to do all these fucking pointless nod-comments? ^^ Silver MX. Be careful with it though, it's vulnerable, mine is already a bit "bruised" around the X because of constantly taking it out, turning around and putting back in.
  7.:nod::nod::thumbsup::nod::nod::nod: Wait no, their masterpiece is A Rush Of Blood To The Head. But other than that: :nod::nod::thumbsup::nod::nod::nod: @Blue Nails: Nice review, love how you're so schizophrenic about it, your mind says "don't fall for it" but you admit that you can't help falling for it anyway. :)
  8. Me neither. It's actually better, normally I'd expect that to be the other way around.
  9. AHT is no doubt the most flawless track of the album.
  10. Yeah, well I generally consider most Viva lyrics as being a lot better than MX lyrics. I'm thinking about Violet Hill's "When the future's architectured by a carnival of idiots on show, you'd better lie low". But in the end they're not that special, indeed. At least they're good enough to be worth a Google search. Maybe I'm focusing too much on Rush when I consider whether a new Coldplay song/album is good or not (both lyrically and sonically). That means in the end, they're not. I've come to an insight. Whenever they announce something new, I expect it to be Rush-worthy, and that's never the case. No wonder I'm always disappointed.
  11. I'm actually realising that I prefer complaining about the album on this forum to actually listening to it. I should really just do something else.
  12. I actually tortured myself by listening to the entire song "Driven By You", and I didn't even find out where the sample came from, my efforts were in vain... @Dan N6: That's a possibility. They don't take any chances.
  13. My thoughts exactly. The intro is great, I'm not sure about the ascending synths, cheesy indeed and too loud, a bit of a mood killer in fact, I think they could have worked that out better - but who am I anyway - but as soon as the guitar melody kicks in it only gets better and the second half kind of makes up for it. The second half is the best part of the album. The day they release a song like Amsterdam but even better I'll die out of pure happiness.
  14. You're right about the melody, in fact it does resemble In My Place in a way. Still, other than the recognisable tune, I rest my case. Yeah. Without it, UATW and ETIAW would clash badly. It could have been just part of ETIAW instead of its own track though.
  15. What do you mean, I was just saying that I agree with the review and I predicted the general reception of this review by Coldplayers. Did I go too far? I don't blame anyone for liking the album, really, they are as right as I am in a way, plus they have the pleasure of loving MX.
  16. You forgot the devilish look. :p Funny anecdote: this afternoon when I was in the store to buy it, I was holding the album and looking around (before I paid) and I accidentally went a little bit too far to the exit, so the alarm went off. Oops.
  17. A few mistakes, Charlie Brown doesn't have a propulsive piano hook, it's guitar with a layer of synth. Still, I understand what this critic is getting at. Good review. Glad I could say that before 90% of Coldplayers rip this review to shreds just because it's negative.
  18. No, no, no, of course not. He always says things like that. I didn't know they signed a new contract last year. I was hoping they'd be going independent after their contract expired.
  19. Nice, it actually works. Judging the images of course, I don't have a phone that's fancy like that. ;)
  20. ... yet! Nicely done, maybe it would have been better like this instead of Paradise in between.
  21. :laugh3: at this. Charlie Brown is so different from what they did ten years ago. It's a lot more outgoing and happy but also - people are going to kill me for this - a lot less... substantial if you ask me. Imagine Chris singing about running wild and glowing in the dark in a Parachutes/Rush of Blood song... Anyway, it's a good song for now, but I'm afraid it won't be as long lasting as what they did in the early noughties. I was stunned and enthusiastic when first I heard it in June but not it already bores me. (Same goes for people who say UATW or U.F.O. are like Parachutes songs, or that Parachutes is an acoustic album. Other than the title track, it's not acoustic at all. Nevertheless, UATW and U.F.O. are really decent songs imo - and this has nothing to do with your review anyway, just something that's been bothering me.) Other than that, good review, though I wouldn't call the piano tune in IUF "rushed" or the one in UWTB "ringing". That or I don't know what those words mean. EDIT: be aware that mods may merge your review thread with an existing thread for reviews. It happened to me before.
  22. I agree 100%, especially the bold parts. Even the way you rank the albums is exactly like I would, except I would maybe rank VLV a tiny little bit above Parachutes because it's more varying and original (though my ranking of these two albums has been the other way around at times). But seriously, it's as if you read my mind.
  23. Doing two Christmas singles in two years would just be silly, of course they won't, but they might very well get Christmas Lights back again in their live shows.
  24. I also have it, found one copy in a store hidden between a Viva and a Parachutes. I didn't even know it was out yet... So, I like the "reversible cover" idea thing. The better quality of the sound hasn't changed my opinion about it for the better, I'm afraid.
