Did Brian Eno improve Coldplay's music?
Eno is a mastermind. He didn't quite do for them what he did for U2 or even Bowie, but he certainly saved them with VLV after they got some backlash from X&Y. He made them try new things. I feel like he didn't have as much of an impact on MX, anyone who's heard some other albums he's produced should agree with me.

MX songs left out
The obvious Car Kids. Besides that, weren't there songs called Spanish Rain, Tomorrow and Great Expectations which never made it to the album?

Rate "Up in Flames"
It's very very boring

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
I'm so excited for it. SA was a bit too ambitious to work on previous gen consoles. But I feel this has genuine potential to be the best game ever made (IMO). SA was incredible and so vast, I was blown away by it when I got it at release. I was blown away again by GTA4. I can not fathom how immense this will be with both of those together. I found the trailer very good too. It hinted at many things but confirmed nothing, more teaser trailers should be like it.

Is it safe to say that Mylo Xyloto is a UK sales flop?
Well, it's 100,000 less than VLV... But VLV was much more hyped. It was one of the biggest opening week sales for an album ever. That's like saying Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will flop if it sells 8 million copies in its first week because Call of Duty: Black Ops sold 9 million. Nah.

Is it safe to say that Mylo Xyloto is a UK sales flop?
"In the United Kingdom, the album sold over 122,000 copies in its first three days of sale according to The Official Charts Company. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of over 208,000 copies, giving the band their fifth number-one album and the second biggest first-week sales of 2011 behind Lady Gaga's Born This Way."

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
The only reason I'm bothering to argue about it now is because I want to kill the half hour wait until the Grand Theft Auto V trailer comes online.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
So now I'm being accused of spending all my free time trying to prove something... No. I just felt like posting this thread to see if anyone else shared my views. I am trying to prove nothing. People have wondered why I dislike it, I explained. It seems to me like you're the one spending all your free time trying to prove something, only your point seems so inane that I can't quite put my finger on what it is you're tyring to prove.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
I like pop music, as I said earlier. If you even cared about opinions you'd have acknowledged that I'd explained and given some good reasons why I think it is a very mediocre album. I just think anyone who uses the "Oh it's different, not bad" response is a blind fanboy who will not listen to reasoning. Face it, I think it IS a mediocre album. It's not me saying "I personally dislike it", I'm genuinely saying that it's not a good record. If you don't like it, get out of the thread instead of crying to everyone about how you can't accept the fact some people view it as bad.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
I lol'd at all the fanboys/girls crying because people don't like MX. I'm sure Chris and the boys don't care as long as they still have wads of cash in their pockets.

nah

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
I just think it's because Pitchfork are going through a phase of giving good ratings to pop music as well as dance pop influenced alternative rock like M83 and, yes, Mylo Xyloto

MX Still Intresting???
I didn't find it interesting to begin with and that hasn't changed

Best Coldplay song since AROBTTH era?
I think it is... Most of my favourite Coldplay tracks are from Parachutes or A Rush of Blood, with a few being from VLV and very little from X&Y and MX. Charlie Brown is a fantastic song though, possibly in my top 5 Coldplay songs, the rest of my top five is made up of stuff from Rush mainly, since I think it's an album dominated by many of their best songs. The only songs between the MX and Rush eras that could be considered some of my favourite Coldplay songs are Viva la Vida, Strawberry Swing, Talk or Square One. This is most probably better than all four of those. As someone who has made it clear how disappointed with MX, Charlie Brown is still a fantastic track in my eyes.

Coldplay haven't evolved, they've just gone to another style of music. If they wanted to evolve they should have actually expanded upon one of their established sounds. Wiping the slate clean and doing a new sound before even fulfilling the potential of any previous album isn't evolution. It seems more like a reboot, if you want.

Your setlist for a MX Tour
1.) Mylo Xyloto 2.) Hurts Like Heaven 3.) In My Place 4.) Yellow 5.) Major Minus 6.) Charlie Brown 7.) A Rush of Blood to the Head 8.) Speed of Sound 9.) Viva la Vida 10.) Shiver 11.) The Scientist 12.) Princess of China 13.) Violet Hill 14.) Talk 15.) Clocks 16.) Paradise ENCORE 17.) M.M.I.X. 18.) Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall 19.) Fix You 20.) Don't Let It Break Your Heart The hits, the new stuff and a rarely played classic. That's about the best I can expect from this tour. I chose the songs I think are better from MX so I'm hoping this is at least somewhat accurate to how it turns out.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
Whoa, I made myself seem like I hate pop music there... I like some pop music. Lady Gaga's first two albums were good. La Roux has some great tunes. Michael Jackson was a legend. MX just sounds like a band trying too hard, but in actuality are delivering mediocre pop music.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
I thought Hurts Like Heaven and Paradise were great pop songs, I thought Charlie Brown was all-round one of their best songs. Mylo Xyloto is the emperor's new clothes. It believes its being experimental - it isn't. At all. It may deviate from Coldplay's previous albums but it's not unlike most pop music, despite what people on here are trying to convince themselves. The acoustic songs sound like Coldplay on auto-pilot, whereas the faster or more pop-influenced songs feel as if the band got on the phone to Rihanna's songwriter whilst they were at it (by that I mean whilst they were asking her to collaborate with them). Sorry, it's just very weak, apart from the three songs I named. Nothing special. It goes nowhere. I was hoping for an excellent build on the VLV sound, or a striking re-invention. Hell, I just wanted a solid album. Not a middle-of-the-road album that adds some slightly pop and electronic influences and then proclaims to be Kid A or Achtung Baby. Those were albums that tried something different. Mylo Xyloto doesn't.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
I haven't actually seen anyone else explicitly say this, so I'm gonna break the silence - I think it's a very, very mediocre album, not up the standards of any prior Coldplay album. It sounds flat and predictable. The songs are often meandering and build up to nothing. Hurts Like Heaven, Paradise and Charlie Brown are the only good songs on here. Some other songs are decent, others are insipid. Ultimately it's a safe and empty-sounding fifth effort.

Hmmm....
I wonder how long it'll take for this thread to get locked...

Wow! This album is getting slaughtered by the press and fans!
I'm saying that I agree with the reviews, don't see why you have to try and look a **** by responding with that.

What Is The Best Coldplay Album ( according to fans)
My favourite is Parachutes

It's getting bad reviews because it's a bad album. I've decided it's a 5/10 for me. Their weakest, worse than X&Y sadly.
