  1. I think Uprising is too long, because it has too simple a structure to last 5 minutes. If they wanted it to be that long they should have added the outro riff they play live onto the end of it I think, but then again I think that riff is cool as a live-only thing, I love it when bands play extra stuff on the end of songs live. Unnatural Selection, nothing much happens in the middle and I think the slow section goes on a bit too long, but that part works live so take it or leave it I reckon. Oh and I Belong to You should have just been two minutes, the French part is unneccesary. The version on the Twilight soundtrack is better IMO, but I do agree that a lot of the longer Muse songs are better, it's just that bands need to have something interesting going on to justify a longer track :) And sadly I didn't have the money to pay for Reading or Leeds. I knew they were rumoured to play but I'd been having problems with money, so when they were confirmed and said they'd play all of the OOS album I was gutted :( ah well, I'll watch it on TV like I did with Glastonbury :p Are you going to any of the festivals?
  2. Some of the comments in this thread are outrageous (mainly from the people defending Coldplay)
  3. Thanks everyone for the nice welcoming :) I think The Resistance is a great album, despite the production not being very good and a few songs being a bit too long... Overall I'm not sure where I'd place it with the rest of their albums though. And nice Hysteria, it's cool to meet someone else on here who went to one of the same shows I did :) The rain annoyed me because I was only wearing my Muse shirt from the previous gig so I was soaked  but it was so awesome when it started to rain during Uprising :D I think Matt may have upset or offended some of the fans who couldn't make it to the Saturday night show with his comments towards the end of the concert though... I'm not sure if you all know what he said but he said that those who went to that show were "real fans" of the band and on the Muse site I go on a lot of people who had no choice but to go on the Friday night were upset by this as they felt like Matt was basically saying their fandom meant nothing to him. But I don't think he meant that, I just think he was happy after playing so many stadium gigs to all those fans that summer and he kinda meant it to all the fans who showed up.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm working on a cover of The Scientist at the minute. :P It'll be the first song I learn fully after playing guitar on and off after a few years. I'll also be attempting the vocals, I'll be uploading my cover to YouTube and I'll post it on here when I'm done. :) It's been going well so far, I know the vocals off by heart and I'm progressing well with the guitar, wish me luck people ;) Oh and it'd be interesting to see other people's covers of this song, so please post them in here if you have any videos of yourselves covering it, plus if you don't mind give me some advice when it comes to playing songs, since this will be my first time actually attempting to learn and play a song fully, then share it. :D
  5. I think it will be... And I'm kinda expecting the walking man guy from the live shows and that weird video to be the front cover. Just an image of that against black, with the band name and album title above it in red or something. Simple but slick and cool, points them in a new, striking direction. I at least expect the walking man to be linked to the artwork/theme of the album in some way. But yeah, Major Minus for the album title.
  6. Which song was it where the 'walking man' video was displayed on screen while the band were playing at Rock IM and AM Ring? I remember watching the video from Rock IM Ring but it was untitled at that point and it seemed pretty cool, but since a lot of new songs were played at AM I've been getting mixed up and can't seem to figure out which song it was  Stupid question I know, but I'm presuming that people will know and it'll save me having to go through every song :P
  7. 'he album title, according to Martin, "probably begin with an 'M'. Two words."' Major Minus I rest my case. Thoughts?
  8. I can't handle the fact some people don't like the new song so I'm leaving It just makes me want to cry...
  9. Sheffield was a better day because it was my first concert and since it was an arena show we didn't need to wait in line early, so me and my friends just spent time around Sheffield before going to wait outside the arena. Wembley was a much better show but since it was a stadium show we had to start waiting outside as soon as we got there, so the day wasn't as great but it was fun and the show more than made up for it :) My favourite albums are Origin of Symmetry and Black Holes and Revelations. Favourite songs are Knights of Cydonia, Map of the Problematique, Citizen Erased, Resistance, Plug in Baby, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Muscle Museum and Stockholm Syndrome :) I love all their albums and songs though (besides Soldier's Poem and Neutron Star Collision, but neither are as bad as many people say they are)
  10. I'll try to get it back on track and name my 10 favourites... People can discuss it and name their own :p Yellow The Scientist Strawberry Swing Talk Politik Viva la Vida Death and All His Friends Shiver Fix You Clocks BONUS 5 Don't Panic Trouble Green Eyes God Put a Smile Upon Your Face Prospekt's March
  11. Thanks :) What are your favourite Muse albums and songs?
  12. Lost was my favourite show ever and still is. Absolutely incredible and I even loved season 6. Over one year on. I miss it so much. So many memories with this show. :'(
  13. Brian Eno saved them from becoming a self-parody and a caricature of arena rock
  14. Not at all... U2 haven't made a really good album since 1993. As a live band and a singles band, yeah, they've still got it, but they haven't done anything really that great in almost two decades and none of their albums since Zooropa are worth going out of your own way for. And I think Coldplay can still connect with people, yeah.
  15. It's hardly a downfall. Coldplay were ordinary guys when Parachutes came out, so they could sing about ordinary stuff. Once you're the biggest band in the world, what can you sing about? That's one of the reasons I think U2 have lost it. But Coldplay I reckon still have the ability to connect with people. This new song is simple but it connects with people, which maintains what I think Coldplay are all about. This song is about Chris' love for music, surely everyone can relate to that? :) It's a great pop track and I can't wait for the new album! :D By the way, if you think this is a downfall, check out Metallica's Master of Puppets, then listen to St. Anger. Listen to The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and then listen to Summer in Paradise. Hell, even listen to U2's Achtung Baby and give How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb a listen. Coldplay are a consistently strong band and if anything X&Y was their all-time low thus far, which they recovered from with Viva la Vida IMO
  16. Shaping up to be an awesome track... Gonna listen to all the live performances of the new stuff again to decide on my favourites.
  17. I'm a HUGE Muse fan! :D Seen them live twice on The Resistance Tour - at Sheffield Arena and at Wembley Stadium (on the saturday) and they were amazing both times! Been one of my favourite bands for as long as I can remember, all of their albums are great and I can't wait for their new stuff. :)
  18. Hi, this is my first post :p Just thought I'd post in here first to get to know what this site's like as well as the users :) I've been following Coldplay for a while now, since they're pretty much everywhere whenever they release new stuff it's hard to avoid them. Only really started to become a fan a few months back, so you could call me a new fan. :) My favourite songs by them are Yellow, The Scientist, Strawberry Swing, Shiver, Politik and Talk. But they have so many excellent songs, so it's hard to decide my favourites! :D
