I'm going to assume you mean that MX is their worst album, or at least one of their worst. And I hate to say this, because opinions are opinions, but you are wrong. You're very wrong. VIVA is my personal favorite, but MX is very strong in its own right, because its the first time that Chris and Co. didn't care about what other people thought. They just went for it, and it shows. MX never felt contrived to me, it always felt pure and joyous and bright. And its gotten better as time has gone on, for me. Lets get out of this mode of thinking that AROBTTH cant be touched. Its not their best album and its annoying when people bash the newer stuff.
2. I believe they have already peaked. I think Viva was the height of their artistic output and creativity. I just dont know.... Amazing Day just seems uninspired, and if it was written and performed by any other band, I would not care for it at all. My expectations are relatively low for this album. I'm much more excited for the tour than the actual album for sure.

corny? yes cheesy? yes classic chris? yes forced? no as long as it doesn't feel forced, i will be satisfied as a coldplay fan this song feels very safe and very basic, but i dont expect much from coldplay on an artistic level. as long as it's from the heart, then i'll enjoy it

this is probs their most U2-esque track yet. very reminiscent of "City of Blinding Lights" i just hope chris can walk the line between sappy and sweet successfully. AIMH and Magic were such sweet and lovely songs, but my god, i cannot sit through Ink or True Love anymore. but from what i can tell of this song so far, im pleased
5. its very obviously Always In My Head
6. I say we'll get it may or june of next year
7. HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIT!!!!
8. an lp8 thread. only coldplaying....
9. Agree Agree. To the people who are waiting for Coldplay to do something a little more interesting, you may have to wait another album cycle. LP7 will likely be more similar to MX than any other of their past albums. And I'm fine with that. I want to see Coldplay live at least one more time while they and their music still have a bit of youth and bounce.
10. It's kinda annoying how they announced it was finished but didn't let us hear it ...
11. So 'Miracles' is finished. When do you think we'll hear it?
12. GS was hit and miss production-wise for me. While I think AIMH and Magic feature some of the best production I've heard in any Coldplay song, other tracks such as Ink and Another's Arms are very very weak imo. How it compares to MX is a matter of preference. For me, MX is just way too dense, and sometimes I feel like the production gets in the way of an otherwise good song. Charlie Brown for example, is fantastic at its core. But there is just waaaay too much shit going on during the hook in particular, and this really undermines the simple beauty of the melody.
13. well is the rumor that LP7 will come out in 2015?
14. It seems possible to me
15. I think LP7 will be a good indicator of what we should expect from Coldplay's future. I'm not too sure they're capable of making another AROBTTH OR VIVA. Im hoping they make something brilliant, but if not, oh well. I'll come around to loving anything they put out.
16. What am I looking for? They seem pretty similar to me, both in theme and instrumental sparseness. One has an acoustic outfit and the other a more modern, electronic one.
17. Go listen to which ones back to back?
18. GS is that. Aside from ASFOS, the entire album was very gimmick-less and stripped down.
19. For sure. GS really feels like a one-off thing.
20. I agree w everything, king. Except that mx and gs were trying to please the majority. Gs was straight from the heart, honest, and genuine. MX had the same ambition as Viva, but Chris said many times during that era that he didn't care what anyone else thought anymore. To the contrary I think MX was striving for greatness, it just didn't live up to viva imo. Either than that, it all seems pretty accurate
21. You've gotta remember, back in the X&Y/Viva days, Coldplay still had something to prove. Or at least they felt they had something to prove. But we all saw the transformation that took place during the MX era; Chris and company simply don't care what other people think anymore. For the first time they felt free to do whatever they wanted. And I think the combination of the Gwyneth situation, having kids, and generally just getting older has softened them a lot. [imagine that-- Coldplay can get even softer]. I believe they are past they're prime, but hey, they're still making beautiful music for the most part, so I say just enjoy the ride. And don't have your expectations so high.
22. I don't hate ASFOS, dont get me wrong But its just not how I want Chris to approach songwriting in the future.
