  1. You're totally right, I completely spaced on that! It's been too long since I listened to MX I suppose. I need to revisit it!
  2. Oops, Double post, sorry!
  3. Definitely! I'm glad to hear Jonny and Will in such prominence again!
  4. My guess would be the single drops on Friday (it's when most singles usually do I think). They've got the hype up, so it'd be best marketing wise to release it this week I think. I don't know how much more they could tease next week! My guess is that tomorrow will be the official announcment with the name and co er of the single
  5. I was afraid the "beat drop" mentioned by that fan was going to be some electronic dubstep thing. But it actually is a real, heavy drum beat! On a side note, I hope this album includes a heavy "rocker" track, a la Violet Hill, GPASUYF, etc. I felt MX and GS were missing that moment. Somehow, this snippet make me think AHFOD will feature a rocker number again.
  6. According to Shazam the current consensus is that it stand for "Adventure of a Lifetime"
  7. From this snippet, the song actually does seem to meet the psychedelic nature of the artwork. Doesn't actually sound too "pop" to me. There's lot of guitar which is a rarity on pop songs today, and that end bit with the heavy drum beat and with Jonny's guitar over it sounds much more like Pink Floyd than some top 40 thing. It's got a very "70s stadium rock" style sound almost. I can officially say that I am extremely excited for this record!
  8. I was thinking the same thing, I think that'd be really cool
  9. I love that this looks psychedelic! Reminds me of Sgt. Pepper, or more specifically The Rolling Stones' "Their Satanic Majesties Request". I hope the sound matches that vibe and is very experimental! I wonder if the cover will be a gatefold, which the clouds and rainbow and other assorted random things over the flower of life picture. Kind of an interactive cover like Mylo Xyloto?
  10. Been listening to Ghost Story and All Your Friends a lot recently, and think if they had been released as a standalone single (ie. Ghost Story on the A side and All Your friends on the B side). If given the promotional treatment a single would get, I think it would have been a pretty big hit for the group, especially on the Alternative/Rock charts.
  11. Same here, but raising awareness of bass players in any way possible is always good in my opinion!
  12. Thank you! That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. That's an interesting point. Like you, I find the rest of the band very interesting, but I suppose it's not really the rest of the group's disinterest, but rather the press's disintrest with them. Which is really a shame. I used to love the group interviews as we got to see each member's personality and how it affected the album. But like you mentioned, perhaps given their personalities they may be glad Chris is handling all the interviews. Either way, I'd really dig hearing more from them during the AHFOD era
  13. I haven't really been active in the Coldplay fan community since the release of MX, but from what I have read a lot of people, including myself, seem to feel as though the rest of the band has kind of become more of Chris's backing band. Don't get me wrong, I think Chris is great, but I haven't seen or heard any interviews with the other 3 in a long time (if they've done any, I'd like to see them). Back during the Viva La Vida era, they were all doing interviews and seemed to all be very proud of their work. They may still have the same dynamic they used to have, but on MX and Ghost Stories, the rest of the group almost doesn't seem as prominent. That being said, the footage from their GoT project showed some of that classic collaboration, but then again that was something very different from the last 2 albums. Curious what others think. Have we heard anything from the rest of the band recently?
  14. I have to agree with this. With the wealth of B sides Coldplay have, which are relitivly unknown to casual fans, I would bet they could get a number 1 album (or at least a top 10 album) from such a compilation, a la Oasis's "The Masterplan". And it would be a great opportunity to throw in demos and bonus tracks too, unless they are planning to do a "Coldplay Anthology" somewhere down the line. Maybe they could do something like "Coldplay B-Sides and Demos 1996-2006" and "Coldplay B-Sides and Demos 2007-2017" (or whenever).
  15. So, this may have been adressed before but 85 pages is a lot to read through, so sorry if something similar's already been said. I will admit that, upon first listen, this is not my favorite song. Like many have stated, its just not my type of music. Now, for people who are fans of Avicii or Ellie Goulding (who's sound I think this song resembles) this song is probably great. I've heard people say the song is generic and I agree with that in some regards; mostly because it sounds like many other songs that are popular today. That's not necessarily a bad thing and I hate how some people online are slagging Coldplay off saying they have "no talent" anymore. Coldplay's versatility of style shows a lot of talent. Ghost Stories alone seems like its covering a lot of different musical territory. Just because this particular song doesn't resonate with me definitely doesn't mean the bad doesn't know what their doing. I think Coldplay are aware that half their fans have alternative leanings, while the other half listens mostly to pop. From what I've heard from "Ghost Stories" so far, it seems their are songs for both interests. This song is for the more pop oriented fans. It might isolate some, but as other songs have shown, Coldplay are still interested in their roots and on a few of the other songs have built off of their older styles.
  16. I'm not usually one to care about celebrity relationships and what not because I don't really see it as any of my business, but I just wanted to say that I was actually quite shocked when I heard about this. I was half thinking it might come out that it was a false rumor or something, but nope. Kind of sad about it actually. I may not know either of them personally, but if there's one thing Chris is known for its love songs and the idea of him losing his muse is just very sad to me. And plus the GS songs we've heard so far seem to really give us a glimpse into his heart right now. It's just weird knowing one of your biggest inspiration is probably in a lot of pain right now. Hopefully everything turns out alright, for both Chris and Gwyn but especially the kids. I'm sure Chris knows that fans like us are there for him :)
  17. Just heard his cover of Simple Twist of Fate! A great Dylan gem done by Chris. What more could one ask for? And it works so perfectly for him too!
  18. I was really sad when I heard this. I was listening to the radio and there was a "breaking news segment". I literally did not believe it. I've been getting really into his music lately too. I ended up doing an hour long tribute to him on my college radio station. R.I.P Lou, you're one of my biggest musical inspirations.
  19. Gotta agree with you there. It's not necessarily the "song" that's disappointing for me, but rather his voice with the song. It's like the song was written for someone with Alex Turner's voice or something, and that just doesn't work for Jake Bugg's voice. But even besides that I find it kind of mediocre. Maybe I won't feel that way when I hear the new album though....
  20. Just heard the full thing in Absolute Radio! After only one listen I can say I love this song. It's got a little bit of each era in it. I hope LP6 follows the same kind of sound as this. That would be a great! One question though. Do we know who produced it (like, was Brain Eno involved)? Because that could be the same person whose producing LP6, if they have indeed started already.
  21. This sounds really great so far! To me, it sounds like a mix of "A Rush of Blood to The Head" era vocals and the ethereal sounds from X&Y. The piano to me also mixes these two albums, at once part sounding kind of like AROBTTH (Politik and Amsterdam) but throwing in touches of X&Y. If the rest of the song is like this, than I think it's safe to say I love the new direction they're taking with their music.:)
  22. Absolutely love T.Rex! They're such a cool band! Has anyone here listened to their (or rather, Marc Bolan's) early stuff as Tyranosaurous Rex? Kind if cool to see their early psychedelic stuff become the iconic glam rock that they pioneered. Some favorites/recommended listening are Jeepster, Ride A White Swan, Deborah, Children of the Revolution, and of course Bang A Gong (Get It On).
  23. dunno. I know people were looking forward to Abraham's Daughter which got a release before the film came out and it was only in the end credits of the movie. I'm sure the Taylor Swift song had major marketing and I don't remember that being in the movie at all (maybe also post credits I don't know). I seem to recall the music in the movie was orchestrated, but anyone whose a fan correct me if I'm wrong.
  24. Great news:D I, like many, am hoping for this to start the LP6 era, or at least be a new take on the MX sound, even though the lyrics look very MX. I heard the original Hunger games soundtrack and I really liked it (had a real Americana sound actually, which could be an interesting route for Coldplay). Don't know who's in charge of this one, but the last one was T Bone Burnett whose a really good producer, so if he's involved we may be in for a treat. Another thing, only one or two of the songs from the soundtrack made it into the first Hunger Games, and they were over the credits, so for those who don't think they'll like the movie I wouldn't worry about it since the soundtrack will probably be a standalone thing (ie. "Music Inspired by the Motion Picture")
  25. I want to read that so badly! I've read excepts and it sounds very interesting but I still haven't gotten a copy. Something interesting I heard recently was the Lifehouse radio play that Townshend did a while back. Very interesting concept for an unreleased rock opera that became Who's Next.
