  1. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face for sure. Maybe followed by Violet Hill...
  2. Alright, so this is my first time taking part in and reviewing a mixtape and I gotta say; I really liked this one! I could tell that the creator of the mixtape really went out of his/her way to make this a ‘summer mixtape’ which I really enjoyed. Also, there was a diverse sound to the music. A couple electronic/dance tracks, aided by a couple indie tracks, and a modern radio hit here and there to make a nice balance throughout the mixtape. Track 1: This song has a definite electronic, borderline-club-music, beat to it. It’s killing me not knowing this one because I KNOW the singer’s voice! Nero? Kibby? The Naked and Famous? I started going into spasms about half way through when I couldn’t remember her name! Overall though, not totally my type of music, but a solid electronic track nonetheless. Track 2: Oh yeah! Pompeii by Bastille. I’ve had this song on a continuous loop all summer! Great choice. Track 3: Starts out with a deep drum beat that pretty much had me right off the bat followed by some really catchy guitar riffing akin to Daft Punk’s new disco-funk sound. Backed up by a series of reverb vocals saying, “Now I’m falling!” Ends with a chorus of singers, accompanied by that same rhythmic guitar playing, chanting “I’ll never give up.” A nice, solid track. Gotta find out who this is! Track 4: “We used to kiss all night but now there’s just no use…” Okay, I've gotta say, this one turned me off quite a bit. The only sound to accompany the first 40 seconds or so of electronic instrumentation was an annoying loop of someone saying, what I can only guess was, “WOW”. That got on my nerves from the get-go. The lyrics that came in around 50 seconds into the song didn’t have me sold either. Kind of just shallow sounding lyrics. Not my piece of cake but I can understand why the mixer added it since it definitely fits into the ‘summer mixtape’ category. Track 5: Slow start with someone singing hushed and muffled-like with what I think was an organ providing the main tempo. Eventually little bells, or is that a xylophone(?), fade in. A piano joins in on the slow buildup as drums also come in to create a bigger, more epic sound. There’s a real sense of grandeur with this song. Wasn’t sure at first, but I ADORE songs like this that build up to something really climactic. Cosmic might be a good word to describe the end of the song. Just an ethereal feel to the whole track. LOVE IT. Track 6: Interesting sound with this one. Female vocalist starts the song with what sounds like bongos joined by a violin(s). I might categorize this as ‘world’ music if it weren't for the singer herself and the modern quality of the production. Track 7: “Don’t you think it’s boring how people talk?” Indeed, I do. Déjà vu here. I vaguely remember hearing this song somewhere, sometime. Pretty decent electro-pop song. There’s actually a high-school-esque vibe to this song as if it’s something that you would hear on Degrassi or 90210. Track 8: I like the use of a variety of instruments with this one. Kind of reminiscent of Arcade Fire since there’s a wide array of instruments used while maintaining a down-to-earth sound with their traditional guitar plucking and multi-vocalist lyrics. Ended with what I thought was an odd sound, even with the myriad instruments used throughout the song. Decent song though. Track 9: Starting out, I thought I was listening to Keane, but then about 10 seconds in a distorted electric guitar sound threw that idea out the window. Still, there’s a definite piano-rock quality to the song. Very different than traditional piano-rock outfits so I liked that aspect of it. Then all of the sudden horns were added to the song and the whole thing seemed to come together. Absolutely loved the song by this time! I’ve never heard it before so I really want to know who this is!!! Track 10: I know this one! I want to say Bombay Bicycle Club, but it might be Two Door Cinema Club… Either way unique, indie baroque pop sound. Track 11: Diane Young by Vampire Weekend! Gotta say, you couldn’t have ended the mixtape on a better song. Perfect song from one of my favorite albums of the year so far!
  3. Track 7 is yet another Imagine Dragons track, this time “Round and Round” off Continued Silence. “very emotional” was also what I was hoping for! It’s practically the song that sets the tone of the story. It’s also my favourite Imagine Dragons song! That's my favorite Imagine Dragons song too! Great mixtape overall!
  4. Okay, so I tried some funky random stuff and jury-rigged my mixtape to (hopefully) work. Fingers crossed. Now, my head hurts. I pray to god that worked... :worried2:
  5. Mine deletes everything but the album art and the song title, which honestly are probably the worst parts to still have shown haha.
  6. Hmm, I tried that too and it didn't seem to work either. I'm hoping it's just a mix up with my computer already recognizing the files so I've sent the mixtape off to Wyr. However if it doesn't work do you know of any alternative ways of deleting the info? Appreciate your help!
  7. So I completed my mixtape and I signed up for uploaded.net but I'm having difficulty removing the info from each song. I have a Windows 7 and use Windows Media Player. I've already tried going to properties and deleting the info but that didn't seem to work. Does anyone know how to delete the info so the songs remain hidden for my mixtape partner?
  8. Well, now that I know who I'm making the mixtape for I've changed a good deal of the songs I'd previously selected. Really looking forward to he/she/it hearing the tape and getting their reaction! It clocks in at 86 minutes though, do you all think that that's too long? Also, I don't use last.fm, but for whoever's creating my mixtape, my favorite bands are Coldplay (shocker I know), Interpol, Smashing Pumpkins, Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine, Muse, M83 and OneRepublic. I also listen to a lot of indie folk. So feel free to steer clear of those (or add them if that's what you're into haha).
  9. Today I learned that a 'buttload' is an actual unit of measurement. Huh, who knew? http://www.omg-facts.com/Language/A-Buttload-Is-An-Actual-Unit-Of-Measurem/55422
  10. Thanks! Glad to be here! I'll take that as a compliment, even though accepting this compliment is in a roundabout way insulting your nation's preconceived stereotype of poor teeth. In short, thank you. Oh and digging that beard, (drawing of the beard ) btw.
  11. Thanks for the help guys and gals!
  12. I learned that grandparents can be incredibly generous at times. And that Community on DVD can really help time pass quickly on a 14 hour car ride...
  13. Hey everyone! I'm pretty new here, but figured I'd post a pic of myself on here. I can't quite seem to figure out how to upload a picture though? Do we have to use a link from another website? What did you all use?
  14. Top 5 for me would be... 1. Famous Old Painters 2. See You Soon 3. The Goldrush 4. For You 5. Careful Where You Stand

I grew up listening to U2 as my parents played their albums on long road trips. I've always loved their sound, personalities and music in general. With that said, I love Coldplay so much more! The bands share a lot stylistically, but I feel like Coldplay speaks to me more and has a more chill/layed back sound that I really appreciate. Honestly, I can't see how someone can like one of the two and dislike the other... :\
  16. Parachutes is numero uno for me. There's just something about that album that not only makes it my favorite Coldplay album, but my favorite album of all time really. So spacey, dreamy, acousticy (that's a word as of now)... :daisy: 1. Parachutes 2. Viva la Vida 3. A Rush of Blood to the Head 4. X&Y 5. Mylo Xyloto
  17. SUPER underrated! Not my favorite on the album (Talk takes the cake for me) but it certainly deserves more credit than it gets.
  18. If it is official, it's one of my favorites from the Viva la Vida era. I'd love to see a Viva la Vida re-release 10-15 years down the road with a bunch of the unreleased songs officially released like Famous Old Painters, Spanish Rain and such... :D
  19. AH! So many good songs to choose from!!! 1. Life in Technicolor ii 2. Viva la Vida 3. Lovers in Japan 4. Strawberry Swing 5. Lost
  20. Opener: Don't Panic Closer: Death and All His Friends Don't Panic is really the song that made me fall in love with Coldplay. So moody, so somber yet happy at the same time. Absolutely amazing song... Death and All His Friends is a fantastic, bombastic, way to end an incredible album. That progression from soft vocals to the group chanting at the end is bloody brilliant!
  21. LP7

Pretty early to be hypothesizing about this, but I'd love to see them come out with a double album, a la the quality and quantity of Viva la Vida. I'd buy that up in a heartbeat. (Not that I wouldn't buy any of their albums in a heartbeat, haha).
  22. I'm not a big fan of Rihanna and her generic pop music, but I didn't mind PoC that much. I think it probably could have been better if it wasn't so synthesized and overdone production-wise, but it's still a solid track on MX.
  23. Finished my mixtape about a week ago. Of course it could change a bit depending on who I'm assigned to...
  24. I don't. I'm pretty sure that it was an official video for one of their singles from either AROBTTH or X&Y, but I can't be sure. I checked on Youtube again recently to find the video and can't seem to find it. Perhaps it was taken down...
  25. Music video w/ bizarre instrument This is my first time creating a thread, so forgive me if this isn't done properly. Here goes... A couple years back I remember watching a ton of Coldplay music videos on Youtube and I came across one which used a bizarre instrument not normally utilized by the band. If I remember correctly, Chris was using it during a part when he wasn't singing. I want to say that it almost looked like a kazoo, but I'm fairly sure that that's not what it was. Also I think the video was from either the AROBTTH or X&Y era, but I still can't seem to find it again!!! Does anyone know the video I'm talking about and what the instrument is? Thanks!
