The Damon Albarn thread.
That's a darn shame, was looking forward to Prince Barry.

The Damon Albarn thread.
Off topic (sorry), but just realised my favourite Damon lyric; "When the days, they seem to fall through you, well just... let them go." Says everything really. Happy birthday, hero.

Does anyone know what's happened about that "Prince Barry" rumour?

YES. It's not a constructive thing to say, it's opinion-based.

Every band should be "experimental". If you're not experimenting with music, you might as well not make it.

Radiohead
Why does sad music have to depress you if it's done well? I've never understood the "Radiohead are depressing". They're not. They're the greatest band that have ever lived, better than the Beatles, and there's nothing depressing about that.

The Damon Albarn thread.
Don't get me wrong, Blur are my favourite of his bands. 13, Blur and Think Tank are my favourite Blur albums, the order changes, but they've never released "the masterpiece" for me. Just consistently good albums (The Great Escape aside...).

The Damon Albarn thread.
I think you're right! It's weird, I think my favourite of his albums is between Plastic Beach and The Queen, but I want a Blur album, then a solo album more than anything else. :D

...Thanks, man. Probably a climate change meeting.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I think if anything, they've been too conservative for so long. Which sounds mental, but pretty much every song (minus the symphony and UD) on The Resistance sounded like something we've heard before. It's all a bit predictable, so maybe they'll throw in something new. The real question is how to top the artwork of The Resistance...

The Damon Albarn thread.
I read he wanted to make "empty club" music. Which sounds quite Think Tank. Tinie Tempah's got a new album out soon, I'm hoping Damon does a turn. Unlikely of course, but he did it for Kano.

I wouldn't say it soothed me. More showed me I wasn't alone.

First Coldplay Song You Ever Heard?
Probably Clocks on a BBC advert. Then I saw the music video a couple of years later. It was pretty boring stuff, I wasn't impressed. Then when I'd grown up a bit, I used to listen to the radio every day. One day, Jo Whiley said she had the new Coldplay song, Violet Hill to play. So I listened, and downloaded it, was totally in love with it and got the backcatalogue, piece by piece, via the Wembley gig, which was one of the best days of my life. Life story, there.

Off topic, but how amazing is How to Disappear Completely? I was a nervous wreck about ten minutes ago, played it, and now I feel much better. Thom Yorke has magical powers.

Radiohead
I've heard people saying it looks like a foetus. But what's the relevance? Rebirth? Fragility? That all seems a bit rubbish for a band with great artwork.

Morning Parade
Heard them a couple of years ago on Zane Lowe's show just before the premiere of Christmas Lights. Not a bad band.

Mylo Xyloto in Every Song?
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is maybe the most beautiful fusion of noises known to man.

When you put it like that... ...Don't sound too bad.

Mylo Xyloto or Strangeland
As someone who used to quite like Keane and then grew disillusioned with them, with the whole what-they-stood-for thing... I never felt like Keane fitted in with anyone. The songs can be as great as you like, but with some people they just don't... connect.

Mylo Xyloto or Strangeland
I read Tim Rice-Oxley saying that he doesn't work hard enough as a songwriter. He re-examined himself a lot and he's working a lot harder now.
