Misquoting lyrics is a definite no-no in my book. If your job is to write music reviews, then do it right.

Washington Post's review has not been included in Metacritic's aggregate calculations. MX is now down to 57% on 21 reviews.

It is now back to 59% based on 20 "reputable" reviews.

According to Metacritic (which is an aggregate of "reputable" reviews), Mylo Xyloto's average rating is currently at 59%, the highest score being 8 out of 10. If the score stays where it is, then MX would be the lowest scoring Coldplay album. Granted, it's still a bit early as it only lists 18 reviews but the Metascore probably will be mid-60s at the highest.

While Mylo Xyloto is an average album, it's not even close to being Coldplay's worst record. That would go to X&Y, one of the worst albums I have ever heard in my life.

Kiame is partially right - she refers to something called "independent creation," which is recognized as one of the many affirmative defenses to copyright infringement. Now the difficulty arises in that the plaintiff now must prove the defendant (in this case, Coldplay) had access to the plaintiff's work. This works against Coldplay's favor considering that the song in question was released in 2008, 3 years prior to the release of Princess of China. Moreover, precedent has already been set in Bright Tunes Music Corp. v. Harrisongs Music, Ltd., 420 F.Supp. 177 (1976). This is the case where the courts decided George Harrison had indeed infringed upon the copyright of He's So Fine, even though Harrison raised the "independent creation" defense. Like I said earlier, Coldplay will probably look to settle for two reasons: 1) The longer this case is discussed in the media, the worse it looks for Coldplay, especially considering they were already sued for plagiarism in the past; and 2) If this case does go to court and musicologists are brought in to testify, then the similarities between the two songs will ultimately work against Coldplay's favor.

Nope, that's not what I'm saying at all. But by linking to the home page of the movement and saying that's the source where you can "get the real scoop," there's clear bias.

If it's been used thousands of times before, surely you'll be able to provide examples....? Moreover, have some songs in mind that give off this typical "asian feel" that so many seem to have knowledge about.

You do realize that this is for songs of 2011 right? None of the bolded songs should be listed.

A I A is more similar to Grouper's earlier records, like Cover the Windows and the Walls, than Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill. That being said, I definitely recommend it. It's a great mix between her earlier stuff with the more acoustic-based newer stuff.

Even though I listed a song by Nicola Roberts? ;) I limited my selections to 1 song per artist so there would be a lot more representation and unfortunately, that led to a lot of great songs being left out. :(
