  1. You're right, I guess the forum titled "MYLO XYLOTO (NO LINKS)" doesn't mean what they used to. :\
  2. Don't get me wrong - I have plenty of criticism for this album. I'm just relieved the entire album's not like Paradise
  3. Way to break forum rules
  4. I still won't change my mind on Paradise, Major Minus, Princess of China. In fact, hearing them within the context of the album makes me dislike them even more - completely disrupts the flow of the tracks. However, the rest of the songs are quality. :awesome:
  5. Well, I still won't come around on Paradise, Major Minus + Princess of China. They stick out like sore thumbs in the album But yeah, this album is definitely better than Viva
  6. They should sound alike except the studio version has the added atmosphere at the beginning
  7. It's great news that the singles aren't reflective of the quality of the album :)
  8. Up with the Birds is great :dazzled:
  9. Great news! Turns out the tracks we had before the leak were just the mediocre tracks of the album. I've been listening to this album nonstop since I downloaded it from Waffles and I enjoy this very much. Definitely better than Viva for sure. Unfortunately, Paradise, Major Minus + Princess of China still stick out like sore thumbs and they kill the flow of the album :(
  10. The album actually isn't that bad - turns out the songs we had before the leak were just mediocre. In fact, my album rankings would be as follows: 1) A Rush of Blood to the Head (8 out of 10) 2) Parachutes (7.5 out of 10) 3) Mylo Xyloto (7 out of 10) 4) Viva la Vida (6.5 out of 10) 5) X&Y (3 out of 10)
  11. I don't want to be putting words in your mouth so I want something clarified before I make a longer post: do you think we're trying to say Chris Martin has become big-headed or conceited in some way because he's now rich + famous? Because if that's the case, that's not what we mean by the fame going to his head.
  12. First off, let me say that I appreciate you taking your time to write out a thoughtful response. It's always nice to have a conversation even if people have different viewpoints. However, you seem to be making generalizations about me making statements that I've never made. For example, I have never said that Chris Martin "sold his soul"- instead, I've wondered if perhaps they don't have the same motivation as they used to. (In fact, it's something the band has acknowledged in recent interviews, the difficulty in finding creative inspiration.) Nor do I ever say I'm pissed off about the lyrics of recent songs or that I only want "slow, simple love songs like Sparks." You also make the claim that I gloss over songs like HLH + UATW. Again, not true - I actually address those two very songs earlier in this thread, how I enjoy UATW and dislike HLH. My problem is you make it seem like I'm the only one who holds this view, that I'm intentionally trying to provoke a reaction. But just look at some of the responses from other posters in this thread - a significant number of posters also share my view that the lyrics have taken a downturn.
  13. To some degree, I agree with you. For example, I don't really mind when Chris/Rihanna sings "la-la-lala" over and over again because I think it fits with the music. However, I think it's worrying that the band appears overly reliant on repetitions of "ohohhh" and other variations in their new songs.
  14. You should check out the World of Music forum's reaction to the song then :P
  15. Yeah, I think the majority of the posters who dislike the new songs are just expressing their disappointment, rather than hate (although there are the obvious trolls).
  16. True, but don't you think this is more common with the recent batch of songs?
  17. I think Rihanna actually prevents this song from being a complete disaster. I was completely bored by the band version (to be fair, most of the available video is of poor quality).
  18. Princess of China: "You stole my star la, lalala la laaaaaaaaaaa" + "Oooooooh-oh oh oooooooh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhhh"
  19. Definitely Us Against the World
  20. Wait, which review claimed that Princess of China sampled Sigur Ros?
  21. You're probably right on Grammy nomination for the Pop collaboration, although I doubt Record of the Year
  22. Pros: It's better than Paradise + ETIAW. Cons: It's still a mediocre song.
  23. :laugh3::laugh3:
