  1. CP3176, You spoke of the courage it takes to share... and you just lived that example better than I ever could. I’m so glad it brought you some self-realizations, too. For what you’ve taught all of us about OCD, you deserve something good in return!! by the way... I also have a mini Chester who I now recognize in your example. Since it’s nighttime now, I see him in my same tendency to avoid letter my hands go over the side of the bed, lest the monster under it pulls me under with him. Not to try to play Psychologist here, but I wonder if that’s a metaphor...fear of being pulled under the bed representing fear of mental illness doing one in??? I have a meditation app (Calm) and this afternoon finished a series on dealing with physical pain. In short, it says our experience of pain is not only physical, but auditory (our self talk about the pain), visual (things we see in front of or behind our eyes, like a color in the pained area, or energy flow there, etc.). Finally, there’s a mental part that is the emotional aspect of being in pain (anger, frustration, resentment etc). So he had you meditate on each of these and say to yourself “feel”, “hear”, “see” or also “feel” whenever one of these parts of pain pop up for you. You repeat the word until that part feels acknowledged. Then it wondrously subsides! I practice this alot now and it helps send Chester on his own little vacation. Thought it might help you. Lastly, I’ll share that you are so right about the age of onset of these illnesses being young. And heredity, as depression is.
  2. Here is a link from a cartoon someone posted in some of the mental health threads. I think we here can relate! I will also get links to their music playlists. Every now and then they survey their users to compile lists that uplift, calm, distract from pain or help cope. https://themighty.com/content/5dd0604e0c9bc200c9330751/.
  3. @I ran away, You are, and always will be, a dear friend to me. What you are doing to spread the message about mental health is truly admirable. As you know, but I will share here for the first time, I too suffer from anxiety and clinical depression, the latter of which usually arises only in certain situations, but is no less debilitating during the timeframes it strikes, My friends here, know that my mom’s death two years ago 11/20 and my best friend’s death three years ago Thanksgiving are two of those situations that were hard to come back from. So this album coming out this time of year is really dangerous for me. I’ve already shared that Everyday Life track was really triggering. So I’m grateful you’ve done us all a service with this thread and your assessments. I’ll be skipping the songs you mention above for now. Meanwhile, be well, friend! To everyone who might suffer from mental illnesses, please check out The Mighty.com and app, They have threads on many mental health and other illnesses and incredible resources and articles from fellow sufferers. It could save your life.
  4. @Inranaway. Yes, we are still. I’ll send you a pm. Thanks for asking. Thanks for your comments, VitaminZ.
  5. @nvdmm, I am with you on how you feel about this song. VitaminZ, your analysis is spot-on.! Maybe that why I can’t even listen to the entire song without crying. Is this song triggering for anyone else? For me, I think the “lights go out” line is taking me back to my mom’s passing in 2017, still raw to me in that we are in a lawsuit against her care facilities. Have to stop writing and get a tissue....
  6. Ok, I agree with you, @I ran away. I went back and listened to Everyday Life, and the line “got to keep dancing when the lights go out” is what got my theory started. That song is in the right place. Maybe this idea holds, with the rest of the songs not necessarily in order??
  7. I have to look at where the songs released so far are in the set list. By this theory: Sunrise Early songs are playful, joyful Early to middle are a bit more jolting, as reality hits in young adulthood Then songs show struggles and learning and yearning to go back to younger, more adventurous times (here’s where I hear Orphans coming in) Then more calm, steady, content themes as one becomes more comfortable with themselves in their forties Sunset Reflective songs open, as middle age sets in and we start looks no back Bursts of adventure and restlessness represent retirement in the middle, Maybe then more longing to go back, more adventures and struggles Late songs are calmer, but show struggles of losing control over one’s body and life Again, a peaceful close. Sorry if these stereotypes of life stages do not represent someone’s experiences. If not, please add to this concept from your perspective, if you don’t think it’s already off path.
  8. Ok, so here’s a random theory I have been mulling over this weekend since hearing Everyday Life. Do you think the whole “Sunrise, Sunset” theme could be about the whole of one’s life, with the songs ranging from birth to childhood to all stages of life? If so, the last song would be sort of at peace with itself. What do you think??
  9. Thanks for finding these! I love how earthy and natural everything looks!
  10. Here’s the best screenshot I can get of Chris’s guitar strap. From what I could see, it says “Heart and Consciousness”. Just watching Everyday Life performance. I could listen to that all day. Got chills and almost teared up at the same time. But that’s life. That’s the point. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. Sorry if someone already captured this; just catching up on the rest of this thread since looking at it around 1am.
  11. Thanks but it seems to just be a lust of Chris’s songs if the moment. No link.
  12. Where can I find it?
  13. Yeah, I didn’t understand if that meant it was boring or good. Guess I didn’t like the language. Sorry, very OLDplayer here. I’m not feeling well and I probably over-reacted. Sorry. I like your other comments on this performance though!
  14. Did you get your screenshot? I recorded it and will watch for it in the a.m. Will post here if I can get it.
  15. While I disagree about it being nowhere near pop, I too heard vibes of Manchester Orchestra, Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and even a little Revivalists in Orphans. I really could not stand the “woo hoos” and usually that’s true for me of that phrase all the time. It didn’t bother me at the end of AHFOD, probably because of the added “ooo”s at the end. I haven’t heard Arabesque.
  16. I love your picture! Is that yours?
  17. Looking for anyone’s comments on Orphans?? Does it have its own thread. I can’t be the only one who’s heard it. Not impressed. Sorry guys.
  18. Hi Stephen! How do you add to the home screen?

  21. So sorry to hear this. It sounds as if he mid-led you. By letting him hurt you, it’s giving him power over you. Someone like that doesn’t deserve that power. Strike that- actually no one deserves power over you except you. And a form of that power is believing that YOU are enough. You don’t need a love [emoji3590] n your life to feel good and complete. I hope- and believe- you will find one. At the same time, I hope you can find peace and joy knowing that you are enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. OMG, I didn’t realize this. I first started seriously listening at X & Y while going into and recovering from my first back surgery. I would have been there in Chicago! Wish I’d been able to go to my first concert then, but I also had surgery during Viva and couldn’t go until MX. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. It should win an award! Have you put it in a contest? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
