  1. Spotify's quality is noticeably inferior to Apple Music and Tidal anyway. I quite like this encouragement for people to pay for a premium streaming service.
  2. For now I'm just going to rate each song based on my first listen of most of them, and might revisit this thread in the future: AHFOD - 8/10 Birds - 8/10 Hymn for the Weekend - 9/10 (love the vibe) Everglow - 8.5/10 (could play this at my funeral :)) Adventure of a Lifetime - 9/10 Fun - 8/10 (would have liked Tove Lo to be more prominent in the mix) Army of One - 8/10 (probably the closest on the album to a more traditional rock track) Amazing Day - 9.5/10 (perfect song for a wedding/slow dance) Up&Up - 7.5/10 (was expecting more based on the band's description of it, but still superior to the closing track on GS) X Marks the Spot - 7/10 (chill track, glad it's on here regardless) For reference, songs such as ASFOS and Yellow would receive a 10/10 from me so we'll see if any of these songs grow to a 10/10. I think AHFOD and Birds are a bit too new to me to really judge although I agree with AHFOD being a great concert opener. I cannot figure out how that spot went to Hurts Like Heaven on the MX tour.
  3. Considering the majority of the forum's first impressions of HFTW and XMTS, I would almost venture to call this post sarcastic :) but I do think HFTW could go down as one of my favorite Coldplay songs.
  4. Although I've yet to hear X Marks the Spot and am going off of descriptions, I think it'll be a track fans need to warm up to a la Midnight.
  5. After some consideration, it seems that out of Coldplay's discography 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' is the band's best work. Its style is focused, its themes are precise, its pacing is concise, its melodies are meticulous, and the album as a whole has a story it strives to tell. Not to mention the fact that it launched the band's largest hit in "Viva La Vida," a pop-antithetical song with universal appeal. Its also the band's metaphorically-loudest album, not in sound but in message and vibe. It is a very well put-together piece, and as it stands the most unique out of the discography in a way that it almost doesn't fit yet it also fits perfectly as Coldplay rocking at their most earnest.
  6. It seems that Prospekt's March had a better pool of songs to choose from than what ended up on it; that could've probably been another full-length album on its own.
  7. IMO I find it better to just subscribe to a streaming service than to purchase singles. Technically if you're always subscribed to a streaming service then you have every song you could want till the day you die.
  8. If I were purchasing albums rather than paying for a streaming subscription, I would definitely want the best quality available. Tidal's prices for purchasing music are similar to iTunes surprisingly so it's a no-brainer. Although, of course CDs are also lossless. Edit: the cost for lossless music through Tidal's shop is about double the standard price. It's more cost-efficient (and funner) to buy the CD itself.
  9. Apple Music and iTunes have it up already so I expect Tidal to have it at 3am ET/midnight PT, or at least by morning.
  10. Sure thing, friend! I listened to some samples on iTunes and WOW this album is already sounding incredible. I already see myself replaying some of these songs a couple hundreds of times. Now I'm more hyped-up to have a physical album in my hand but hoping I find some store with at least a little launch day goodie!
  11. Awesome, what gear are you using to listen?
  12. I considered it, ha. Maybe if a retail store carried the stickers I'd go ahead and buy it but wasn't too tempted by the stickers. I do have a Tidal subscription currently so I can listen to the album losslessly ;). Ghost Stories was indeed a perfect breakup album. Just don't let Coldplay convince you to do anything rash .

  14. Of course it's worth it! But not sure I need to have the physical CD when I can listen to it in high quality online.
  15. Agreed, I didn't purchase the Target deluxe edition of Ghost Stories as I wasn't enticed enough frankly. I would love to go out later and purchase AHFOD from somewhere that at least throws in some type of bonus, any ideas? I've been checking but I haven't found anywhere that even includes a launch day goodie. Really not that enticed to solely buy the CD since I subscribe to music streaming services.

  17. Hyped up for A Head Full of Dreams -- it's going to be one of Coldplay's best! I love when a band releases a limited edition CD in retail stores to entice fans to buy a physical CD and receive a bit extra with it, such as the Mylo Xyloto Target exclusive limited edition boxed CD. Unfortunately I haven't heard of a limited edition for AHFOD yet, any news?

  19. With Chris Martin practically calling Coldplay's seventh studio album "A Head Full of Dreams" the band's final album -- for now, fans should prepare themselves for a hiatus following touring for this album. :( Coldplay has too much of a chemistry and a significance to stop making music until they're all too old to (Paul McCartney still does so Coldplay should have plenty of life.) Yet it seems that the band may be planning a break following the release of two albums in two years. How long of a break is speculatory. Let's just hope it's not a multi-year hiatus...
  20. I thought the official ASFOS video is one a band would make for a "lesser" single. Usually bands only do that live style for a small-release single. ASFOS was made for the original! There are seconds in the video that I could see Chris wanting to redo but the original is mostly fantastic! Reminiscent of the VLV commercial :D.
  21. As many of you are already aware, Coldplay is in considerations to play the 2015 half-time show -- albeit, with one major caveat: they will have to split a percentage of their post-show touring profits with the NFL. This is almost auspicious and simply greedy, especially considering the profit half-time ads bring in alone. The most they'd make is probably under $20 million from profit-sharing any act. That aside, if the NFL has a change of heart and decides to offer Coldplay the spot: should they take it? Ghost Stories isn't an album made for a stadium, so they should begin promoting their next album in January if they do. Otherwise, it seems like bad timing for the band even though their popularity is peaking with ASFOS. I'd say yes they should take the spot, granted they have a new single, album, and tour prepared. If not, then pass and wait for a better opportunity.
  22. Apparently when Avicii "plays" this live, he uses the extended edited version: [video=youtube_share;6VlzxDaRyd4] Bet most of the crowd didn't notice the extra lyrics lol.
  23. Great job, Kacey! Looked like this song would take an expert to play. How long did it take to learn?
  24. Wedding Bells and Christmas Lights share lyrics and instrumental elements.
  25. So, the 128kbp/s Soundcloud upload just won't cut it for blasting on my surround sound setup. I have the original ASFOS saved in lossless quality but really want to hear the 6-minute Aviici edit with extended lyrics on my setup. Where can I find a better quality version? It's not on iTunes etc. Thanks!
