i think coldplay can be both abstract and direct.... i can't make sense outta "shoot and apple off my head"... but politik is pretty much the most direct song i've ever heard, with chris just saying what he wants, then deciding he wants love more than anything else

On first listen, I wasn't extremely fond of the studio version... but seriously every time i listen to it it sounds better. Coldplay songs always seem to grow on me slowly. The version I heard is the OC one tho and wasn't that good... is that piano i hear in the first chorus then acoustic guitar joining in in verse two?

I tried to get tickets to that show, although i wasn't lined up at the metro... i was just clicking online. I can't imagine being the 20th person in line and being told it was sold out... I would've freaked

can someone explain this song in terms of instruments.... haha i know this sounds stupid but i am curious how it is constructed... for example for the scientist one would say "starts off with chris on piano w/ vocals, sings real high in the chorus, acoustic guitar joins in before second verse, then bass and drums, ect...." i am trying to get a feel for how this sounds.

with that said.... i wanna hear some new shit! anyone got links to fix you, till kingdom come, or twisted logic (that aren't through rapid share) you would be my hero if you did

i agree with what was said earlier in this thread... people who care enough about coldplay to talk about possible album leaks on message boards three weeks prior to the album's release will still buy the album because, obviously, they are big coldplay fans... the fact that anyone can download this thing the date it comes out makes the record company's attempts to provide a leak seem rather pointless... the difference between when one can buy the cd and when one can dl it for free on the internet is a matter of hours.. for us in the US it will be released a day before in the UK and therefore we can still download it before it comes out officially.... EMI is stupid

Ha when i read the thread i was thinking five out of ten... glad I was wrong. NME gave it nine outta ten. I am thinking this could be real fucking good. And anyone who says that Coldplay album progressions don't follow that of radiohead are kidding themselves. The first album with the hit single, the second album that made them a legitimate and worldwide band, and the third that is the masterpiece. Sure, there are some disparities.... but very close. Can't wait for the fucked-up, artistic, electronic fourth album. Just kidding

I would be so happy if we saw five. I just have a feeling thats too good to be true and we will end up seeing Speed of Sound (they have to play it cuz it's the single) and one other song.

Square One is awesome... Could someone who has heard Fix You briefly describe it... like is it most piano-driven, or acoustic guitars? Does it build up... is it sad? I've heard so much about this track and want to know what to expect

wiReZ you are a funny dude.... I think X & Y will be more experimental than coldplay's other stuff, but, as some have said, experimental in a safe way that won't alienate current fans.... I think that the band eventually will reach that really experimental stage tho... keep in mind that Politik was the most experimental song on AROBTTH and it was the bands favorite song off the album.. Similarly, Square One is the song Chris seems most confident in on this album... Basically, the band takes pride in the "weirder'" more experimental tracks

The chorus of white shadows is brilliant... the way chris switches between falsetto and not-falsetto (ha, i dont know the real term for that)... the vocal melody really is amazing in that chorus

the bass line in GPASUYF really fires the song along... I love the notes guy plays in politik although few people would mention that song... finally, everythings not lost.

Haha, there is so much hatred towards SOS. I know in the Q magazine article the writer said the Hardest Part is the worst song... maybe thats where the idea came from
