did you mean a film? (not trying to correct your grammar) ... i hadn't heard of that ... you got a link to an article about it?

LP6
I hope they don't release an EP or live album between now and album six. I am in the minority there, I am sure, but I feel like an EP or live disc would sort of buy time for the band ... it would allow them to wait longer before releasing LP6. don't get me wrong, I loved Prospekt's March and Leftrightleftrightleft but I think their real strength is making albums. Chris said that in the Rolling Stone interview on MX and I think they've gotten better since they came to that realization. So, here's to hoping LP6 isn't three more years away!

Coldplay's recording contract
Hey, so I saw this referred to in other threads ... but I haven't seen a thread about this particular topic Does anyone know what the status is for Coldplay's record contract? I've heard it ends after five albums, I have also heard they have two more on their current deal. Anyone read any good articles on this subject that they can share a link to?? Also, and this may be a dumb question, someone wanna explain the Parlophone/EMI relationship? I am from the U.S. Are they one and the same?; does one company own the other?; does my quesiton even make sense?? Anyway, I think this will have a big influence on where the band goes from here! (look what Radiohead did when their deal expired). Any thoughts??

The Story of Mylo Xyloto. Track by Track.
Hey, just wanted to say this is fantastic. Very well done and thanks a lot for sharing your interpretation of the record. I really feel that, once the dust settles, people will realize that Mylo Xyloto had a remarkable depth to it.

What an epic song!
The end of this song is so uplifting... beginning with the guitar riff, transitioning into the "might have to go..." part, and ending with the great line: "A simple plot, but I know one day, good things are coming our way" I feel like that last line sums up the beauty of Coldplay's music. It recognizes the shit in life and the hard moments but, at the end of the day, there is a sense of uplift and optimism in the face of all these challenges. It's why the band is my all time favorite.

Q MAGAZINE Rates Mylo Xyloto 5/5 Stars (Scans now in first post)
Any word on this? Has anyone read the review yet? and are there any scans of it?

Which transition do you think completes the next song the best?
I personally think the transition from POC to Up In Flames is the best. True, the tracks don't actually bleed into one another, but I think it sums up the two sides of the album brilliantly. POC is this big, epic moment and is quickly transitions to UIF, which is so sparse and stripped down. Prior to the album, Jonny talked about wanted to have really huge moments on the record and really intimate moments. This is a good example. Thus, POC to UIF is my fav transition

An EP to follow MX?
ha wow. can't believe this thread managed to be so offensive. here is the thing, though. when a band makes an unreleased track ("car kids") part of their album artwork, their wardrobe (CK is everywhere) and their overall album campaign, they probably want people to be asking the question. simply asking about an EP does not make anyone greedy or ungrateful of coldplay's music. i haven't taken MX out of my cd player since it came out. So please don't read a brief post and act like you can judge how others are appreciating the band's music. If you think back to the Viva era, Prospect's March was a conscious extension of the full VLV album. By listening to MX and wondering where this piece of art goes next, one is not being ungrateful. They are simply going along for the ride

An EP to follow MX?
Just curious what people thought about this... do you think that there will be a follow up EP to Mylo Xyloto, similar to what we saw with Prospect's March following Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends? I feel like the Eno sessions yield a lot of material... plus the references to "Car Kids" in the album artwork makes me feel like the band may have held a few tracks back, and may be hinting at another release.... thoughts?

7 from Pitchfork ? This is an historic event
What a brilliant observation. Seriously, it's probably getting to the point where hating Coldplay will no longer be trendy and appreciating their music will be viewed as thinking outside the box.

Princess of China and the similarity between a song of Vietnam !?
Ok, so in my view, there are two conceivable explanations for the similarities. 1. It is a coincidence. (You could take virtually any pop melody and find a song with a similar hook). 2. Coldplay, fresh off of having a plagiarism issue tarnish one of their biggest hits, decided it was time to steal something else. They figured that scouring obscure vietnamese pop music was an easier way to get a hit single than relying on their own songwriting abilities. They then recruited Rihanna to make sure that there was a woman singing the stolen melody, just to make sure it was as similar as possible. Then they hoped no one would notice. Ummm, I think option one makes a bit more sense.

What's going on with Chris' vocals?
The first studio version I heard was this YouTube thing where they changed the pitch so it didn't get taken down... I have heard the actual version now, but I think that YouTube thing totally messed with my ability to listen to it

[Review] NME Rates Mylo Xyloto 5/10 [Scan added Pg. 3]
There always seems to be a magazine, or reviewer, who just misses the boat on each album.. I remember when X & Y came out (and I am not hating on that album) Billboard gave it like a 10/10 and called it their masterpiece, when every other review was lukewarm. Such is the case here. NME missed this one ... and, I must say, missed it pretty badly
-
2 different songs?
THAT, by the way, is an awesome statement, the last three tracks really seems to form a cohesive unit that closes the album perfectly.
-
What's going on with Chris' vocals?
Anyone else think Chris' voice sounds a bit odd in the first two verses (stole the key... up until be a cartoon heart)... I don't know if there are some slight effects on it or what, but I noticed a difference between the studio and live version. Not saying I dislike it, just saying it has a bit of a different sound to it.

Up With The Birds - Another Sample
so is the only part of UWTB that is taken from the Cohen song the lyrics at the very start? This song is breathtaking, could very well be one of their best ever.

Remember, this is a concept album
I am not writing to defend the single Paradise, nor am I intending to bash it. But I must point out that people seem to be forgetting that Mylo Xyloto is a concept album. And that is why I am so surprised by the apparent rush to judgment by so many people. Judging a concept album by one single (or two, if you include ETIAW) is misguided. It is like reading one or two chapters in a book and calling the whole novel shit. Perhaps the marketing approach has been a bit off. The promotional plan has encouraged fans to judge the band's new direction before it can be fully understood. I respect the opinions of those who are disappointed (although I, personally, don't think the song is bad). But I don't think we should be so quick to write off Coldplay. Wait until the story is complete.
