Oh finally this saveviva thing has stopped ! I can continue my vote (alone) for Life in Technicolor II then.

ELIMINATION #4: VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS
Please let it be erased if the majority votes against it, otherwise it's just not fair for the other songs. If every song goes through the "#vote for .... to save viva" thing the most reasonable thing to do is to reset the whole elimination game and to stop this nonsense. Everyone, please just vote for the special song that you want to eliminate, not for the one that everyone votes for. This way, the game will be fair, otherwise it's just useless and it doesn't represent the real preferences of the CP fans here. I vote for Life in Technicolor II.

True Believer - feat. Chris Martin out now!
@Batman : sorry, sometimes I do enjoy a good ol' sarcasm :sneaky: it may be a bit difficult to be humorous in a non-native language so I don't know if you were ironic or if you actually laughed to this, but one thing is certain : you always have the perfect gif at the perfect time ! :D That's well said. And maybe you can add Skrillex into it, just for the fun. Oh and sorry I'm not really into this Avicii stuff so can someone offer me a brief recap of what happened to that other song, Heaven ? it was meant to be sung by Chris and then Avicii and Chris offered it to someone else is that right ? Is the song out somewhere ? I'd really like to have moar of this collaboration, it's so much fun actually :D

Love all your heartfelt deliveries :wacky: Personnaly I'm still hopeful for Coldplay. But it's just not a good phase for them I think. They're not young anymore, yet they're not really mature artists neither. It'll be better in 7-10 years I think. It's just an awkward time to be a Coldplay fan but it's gonna change after a few albums, I'm quite confident about it :) (but this doesn't stop me at the moment from being angry and frustrated and moaning about them becoming greedy sellouts)

True Believer - feat. Chris Martin out now!
^ hahaha this is awesome :) Well, all of this proves we're all really impatient for AHFOD to come. Personnaly I want Chris Martin to take the whole power. I want more Chris Martin. Moar Chris Martin. Moar yoga. Moar songs with the word "baby" 36 times in it. Moar songs about love and believing in the powers of life. Moar songs about jumping-around-with-other-human-beings-in-a-common-feeling-of-togetherness. Moar cheese. Moar moar cheese. Moar featurings with moar sooo talented american pop stars. It's gonna be sooooo freakin good. Thank you Chris Martin  Seriously this is utter shite, no other words. at 3:00 : they really need to stop these freakin "white noise filter rising" moments. This is cheap, retrograding, dumb electro. And the very end is just meh... this fake piano sounds like it's played by an 8 yrs old. oh and I forgot the worst part : the lyrics... "I wasn't always the brightest, till I learned how to dance I might not have been the tallest, till I learned how to jump baby love will come around if you want it enough Love will come around if you're a true believer" WHY R U DOIN THIS

Oh and sorry, double post but it's just that I can't find this video filmed during the viva era sessions, a bit long (like 17 minutes or something) where you can see jonny and will playing with an electronic beat at the beginning, it seemed to be a very interesting one but i lost it... could someone remind me the name of the video please ? thank you !

^ Well said ! I'll give it a go : songs from MX : Hurts Like Heaven (very Arcade-Fire-esque, which is good imo), Major Minus (full potential when it's played live), UFO, UWTB. Songs from GS : AIMH which is truly beautiful and simple, Oceans (beautiful acoustic gem with ambient outro), Another's Arms (full potential when it's played live, again) and of course Midnight. I remember when we heard Midnight for the first time, as a true Jon Hopkins/Jamie xx/Caribou/Four Tet lover I was like "wow they have the balls to do this after MX" and naively i thought all the album was going to be this : ambient, experimental, unconventional, electronic in a GOOD and elaborated way, taking risks with pop songs and bringing artistry back after 2 years of stadiums and rainbow butterflies and confettis. And then Magic came, and then the Zane Lowe interview with snippets from ASFOS came and that was like a fucking slap in my face after something like Midnight. I do understand why they wanted to try stadium rock with MX, we always knew they'd try to be U2 someday, and this day came and it was MX, and it was awful but it was fine 'cause we were awaiting it. But what they did with GS is worse imo, 'cause it's a bit of a treason to tell people that an album with ASFOS, Ink and True Love in it is actually an intimate album, after you yourself redefined what is intimate pop with Parachutes. It's a bit weak to create the buzz with an experimental song and then go back to OOOOOOOh & stars & true love with a lot of cheesy strings. And fucking Avicii. It's like they tried something, but they couldn't do it, so they filled the blank space with Oooohs and stars and what i said just above. It's a far worse approach than the MX one imho. Because it's not only a desire to make more popular music and to reach the top of the charts like they did with MX, it's also a pure lack of inspiration.

Amazing Day
^ Agree with you and Joueur Froid, but the only thing I hope is that the whole album won't be peaceful & full of togetherness. Imo this song is boring and bland, but I'm not judging the ones who love it. Actually if there's just one "peace in the world" song and if the album's tracklist runs very well, this song could be actually nice, like a breath of fresh air. But I swear to God if all the songs are praising love, happiness, peace and kindness I'm gonna be really upset. I mean, all these brilliant albums to lead us there. That's fooling the people that actually supported you all along, don't you think ? Coldplay (even in MX or GS) have never been this bland. There was always some original way of seeing/creating things in every album, may it be pop, rock, joyful, dark, intimate or stadium-filler.

I've never seen this outro before... It's really fucking amazing. It makes me feel weird that 7 years ago they could still be so adventurous in front of a huge arena, and make epic rock outros to an already epic rock song, with weird time signatures and harmonies that are a bit more complicated than the paradise-ASFOS I / VI / III / VII. And seriously Amazing Day is just shite. From the beginning to the end. Stop taking fucking yoga lessons with Jay-Z in malibu and bring back your anger, your nightmares, your questions about life and space, just bring the artistry back, basically. (oh and it feels good to be in a thread where no one's gonna yell at you)

Amazing Day
What I find strange is that there is piano playing but chris isn't playing it. It seems to be a perfectly playable part of piano, unlike the one from ASFOS (because of the filters/effects and the necessity of chris jumping around everywhere and not sitting behind the piano while everyone's dancing). Definitely don't know..

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
^ agree, just because you make a hook with bright piano on 2 songs it doesn't mean you ripped off yourself or whatever, music critics were just aiming to amplificate the fact that X&Y sounded a bit like a mainstream and "poppified" AROBTTH, so they stepped into this whole Clocks=SOS thing to demonstrate this. Which is completely unwarranted imo. But for this AIMH - Amazing Day thing, it's quite different i think : these two songs have basically the same time signature, same tempo, same drum sounds, same breaks, same guitar effects, same vocal range, same feeling. (And moreover they're all one notch below AIMH, imo. And it's bland.)
