  1. First of all, I'm glad this thread became into a positive one. Answering your question, I really like the two of them. I think they complement each other because in army of one Chris mentioned a treasure and X marks the spot is the hidden treasure. The lyrics are very simple. I think we all agree on that. However that doesn't mean there aren't any emotions behind them. It's said that the best things in the world are the simplest ones. I think that's the message of the AOO. The "you" he mentions could be any of your loved ones because you'll fight for them any time they're in trouble and you feel stronger when they are around you. Talking about X Marks The Spot the beat is catchy and I like that. I love dancing but the lyrics on most of those catchy songs are horrible. I dance because the rhythm is good and I just listen to them at parties. Whereas, Coldplay songs are good for any moment and make you feel good. I imagine myself listening to XMTS at a party, travelling, doing exercise, etc. The reason why this album has brought a diversity of opinions is we're trying to rate it while we compare it with their previous work. There's nothing wrong with just trying to enjoy it without giving a number. We're used to it because at school or in competitions we're always looking for the number one or the best. However, not all the things can be rated. Music is one of those subjective things that will bring different thoughts and we won't agree with just one or we won't find an average. That's good because it makes this world interesting but sometimes it's better to enjoy what each piece of music has for us.
  2. Talking about classic sound the other day I was listening to Strawberry Swing and I thought AOAL has a similar guitar riff. Another song that I can compare in terms of the message is We Never Change. In the song Chris sings about how he wanted to live his life while in Amazing Day he sings he has reached the stage in his life he wanted to live.

  4. Sure! And something they won't lose is their passion for playing music. Because even with their simplest songs they give us indescribable feelings. Coldplay is the only band that is able to play any kind of music while keeping their powerful sound. I will always love them for that.

  6. I saw something similar in a Mexican record store. Adele and some other Mexican artists have huge posters around the store, but I couldn't see anything about Coldplay. Even I passed by the place where the album was placed and I thought it didn't arrived. Later, when I asked to the seller if they had it, she took me to the entrance! It was right in front of me but I didn't watch it because there wasn't any ad!
  7. I won't try to rank the albums. I think all of them have something that makes them special. In the case of AHFOD I think it's not their classical sound but when I listen to it I can feel this is so joyous that I forget my original thoughts and I start to enjoy it.
  8. On the screen it says they'll be playing the Jingle Bell Ball on Monday at 7. Maybe we'll be able to watch the highlights
  9. School days are better when Coldplay is around!
  10. I thought the same. At the moment Coldplay is at the top of the iTunes chart worldwide.
  11. I forgot to share this. When I went to the record store to buy AHFOD they were playing Trouble in the background. It was the most beautiful feeling because I haven't heard any Coldplay song being played in the store before.
  12. The poem has been so inspiring for me. I'm so grateful they decided to share it. But, I don't like the way it's said.
  13. Here it is! With my own kaleidoscope photo!
  14. I'm not sure, but I do love the piano.
  15. Finally I listened to it. While I was writing this review I listened to it for the second time. I'm feeling the same way as @gentleparachute, I'm not sure how to feel about it. IMO it feels like a mess in some parts. I can hear a lot of styles and genres. However, I love most of the songs. The only ones that disappointed me are Kaleidoscope and Color Spectrum. In terms of interludes, MX was so much better than AHFOD because they're connected with each other. You can listen to it without noticing they're separated songs. The first time I heard Hymn for the Weekend I didn't like it. Maybe it was because I hear it in a low quality speaker. The second time I like it and I enjoy the sound, Beyonce did a great job. My favorite one so far is Everglow. I just love it. I can't describe what I feel when I listen to it. In general, I think I will love it if I don't listen to the songs that disappointed me. I'll give it 8/10
  16. Today is the day!!!! in a few hours I'm going to the record store to buy it!!!! I'm ready to listen it for the first time!!!!!
  17. Hope someone record it. I won't be able to watch it. I'll be buying AHFOD at that time :)
  18. Well, I said I wanted to watch it and I did it. But I take off my earphones when they played the new songs :) And this is also the second time I've seen the band release a new album and so far this has been so exciting. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!
  19. This is why we're the "best fans in the world" they will have our support it doesn't matter what genre they want to play. Moreover, Coldplay is a band you either love or hate and that IMO means they're doing something good. Right now people who hate the band is talking and the ones who support them are just reading their hate, or at least that's what I'm doing. The band will let people talk as they plan their show. They're so immersed on the pop culture that they'll find the way to pleased the masses.
  20. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQvRarvD6VE
  21. Thank you so much @gentleparachute you'll be the first ones to read my review. I'm counting down the hours. And right now I'm listening to Ghost Stories, the last album on the last day before AHFOD. Tears will stream down my face!
  22. Coldplay will disappoint the haters and they'll do an amazing performance. They're brilliant. They'll choose the right songs. Plus they don't care at all, they know there's people who don't like their music. They'll try to enjoy as much as they can the show. My guess is: we'll see how they top the charts because people will "discover" their new sound.
