Hymn for the Weekend
This kinda proves Coldplay knows how to make catchy songs then! Something similar happened to me. I didn't like it at first. It isn't their original sound but how they were able to write something that makes sense after some listens!

AHFOD - YOUR reviews
It's been one week since the release of AHFOD and after listening to it once each day I think I can write my review. I'm not an expert in music so all I can say is what these songs make me feel whenever I listen to them. To be honest, the first time I heard it I felt disappointed because it didn't sound like their previous albums. Even Ghost Stories included the vibe Parachutes give me except for ASFOS. But AHFOD includes genres I don’t usually listen to such as Hymn for the weekend I wasn't expecting a song like that written by Coldplay an alternative rock band. The only three songs I liked were Everglow, Amazing Day and Up&Up. Maybe my preference for ballads and piano sounds influenced me to love those songs the first time I heard them. However, there's something behind Coldplay's music that I can't help but loving it. So I decided to stop rating and start enjoying the diversity of sounds they have included in each one of their songs. I have to say I don't like everything they have done though. This album isn't an exception. Kaleidoscope doesn't have a great sound it's forgettable and what makes it special is the poem but it doesn't mean I'll listen to it. If I want to know what The Guest House is about I'll read it. Talking about Hymn for the weekend and in general the pop sound AHFOD has I'll say I love dancing listening to this songs and the idea of happiness and joy the band wanted to give when they wrote this album. I don't want to rate the songs because I don't want to hate the band who is giving me hope and faith in what I do through their lyrics. Perhaps they're saying to themselves "don't ever give up" but at the same time they're telling so to anyone who listen to their songs. My father once told me to enjoy everything I've lived and I'll do it while I listen to Coldplay.

Why Coldplay?
I've just seen this. We almost share the same birth date. I celebrate my birthday every September 28th!

Why Coldplay?
Why Coldplay? After listening to the songs played on the radio, TV or at school I felt tired of them and decided to find my own music. I found a band full of color wearing elephant outfits that had a catchy sound. I kept watching their videos and found a graffiti one where the line "I'd rather be a comma than a full stop" resonanted on me instantly. I started to follow them just three days after I "discovered" them, something that hadn't happened to me because around me there were music that either was hopeless or meaningless and I didn't want that in my life. I kept listening to their songs. As English isn't my mother tongue the first thing that caught my attention was the melody. In that time I thought pop was the genre I liked but Politik and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face had a powerful sound and I couldn't help but start enjoying their rock sound. Even I felt the desire to go to one of their concerts when I wasn't a massive fan. But what made me say I was a Coldplayer was the way they see life. I prefer to see the positive side of everything. Sometimes I see the dark side of things but I don't pay attention to them because it's a waste of time to get angry at things or moments that doesn't deserve my time. I prefer to learn from my mistakes. That's what have helped me succeed in what I've achieved. I won't give up because I'm not lost. There are many different ways to get what I want. I prefer to forgive. It doesn't mean I forget. I just want inner peace to see how wonderful life is. Coldplay was the proof that what I believe is true that I wasn't the only one who prefers love over hate. They are also the ones who remind me everything isn't lost whenever I feel low. They are the ones who make me dance, jump, cry and laugh at the same time. Through their music, interviews and performances I see a group of friends who shows the most important thing in life is happiness and love. Of course we'll face difficult times but the way we look at them will make the difference. I don't care if they write the simplest lyrics because even in those lyrics there's a powerful message and I will always love and follow them for that.

Club of coldplayers in a coldplaying hiatus
It's been one week since the release of AHFOD and I believe we're not anymore in a coldplaying hiatus. It was fun to spend some time with you in this thread. I guess it's time to say see you until the release of LP8 or see you soon if you're looking for a another hiatus!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Exactly, too many criteria. For example if I take into account the number of songs I like in an album, I'll say Ghost Stories is my number one. But if I take into account the innovative part I'll say Viva La Vida. And so on.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
I have the same problem. I don't know how to rate them. Each time I try to there's something in each album that I like that doesn't allow me to rate it lower or higher. Maybe the lowest is Parachutes IMO.

Coldplay on the sixth fundraising album Rhythms Del Mundo
I haven't seen this being shared. Hope it isn't posted in the wrong section. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdQ3kCq8NY4 Rhythms Del Mundo - The Afro/Latin collective collaborations: Ed Sheeran | Coldplay | Bob Dylan | Laura Mvula | Pharrell Williams | Beck | Maroon 5 | Beyoncé | James Bay | Rhythms Del Mundo ft. Jazz Flowers | Amy Winehouse | George Ezra | One Republic Listen and donate now In collaboration with some of the world’s greatest artists, Rhythms Del Mundo is releasing its sixth fundraising album: OCEANS, in 2016. Here you can listen and digitally download a pre-release product in return for a small donation to the causes that Rhythms Del Mundo supports. All proceeds from OCEANS will go towards marine conservation and climate adaptation projects across the world, through Rhythms Del Mundo’s charity branch Artists Project Earth. To date Artists Project Earth has supported over 360 projects worldwide from its art, music and events work. Listen to the pre-release album and download tracks today… Rhythms Del Mundo: Oceans… great music supporting the work of Artists Project Earth… The earth and all her inhabitants teeter on the edge of climate chaos; for too long we have ignored the warnings of indigenous people, elders, scientists and visionaries. We’re in the last-chance saloon, and that place is Paris, COP21. But … throughout the world millions of people are saying, “It doesn’t have to be like this,” and through their thoughts, words and actions, they are ‘being the change’. On every issue, at every level, governments and business leaders are being challenged by civil society to think differently – as if the Earth matters – and little by little, things are changing. Renewable energy is becoming cheaper than fossil fuels, food waste is being diverted to those in need, communities are uniting against fracking and GMOs. A new world is emerging… Artists Project Earth is releasing its sixth fundraising album, Rhythms del Mundo: Oceans to raise funds and awareness to support the work of those caring for the earth and the oceans. To date, APE has supported over 360 projects worldwide that are helping to bring about a better world. With your support in buying this album, we can fund even more fantastic projects. Thank you. http://oceansalbum.com/

Club of coldplayers in a coldplaying hiatus
It's basically what gentleparachute mentioned. When the album leak some of us didn't wanted to listen to it, we wanted to wait until the official release. Jaytheblue suggested to go in a "coldplaying hiatus" so we wouldn't spoiled ourselves reading all your comments. So I thought it could be a great idea to start a thread about it.

Gaming: Does anybody know any good video game titles?
I'm not a gamer but I've played some video games with my brother. My favorite ones are Twisted Metal (I'm not sure why, lol) and Indiana Jones Lego version. I also enjoyed the Plants vs Zombies but I'm really bad at playing it.

Up&Up
I love the message Chris wanted to share in this song. I like the sunrise part because it's said in a simple way but it's so true. When we're young we take it for granted but as we get older we realise how important it's to enjoy every moment of our lives. That’s something I learned from my father :)
