The Offical "The Killers" Thread
Thats great. I may buy a copy, just so they beat Elvis. Apparantly, they are re-releasing all of Elvis' number 1s, one each week, so he gets like 20 consecutive number 1s or something. Wouldn't it be great if the Killers stopped that record the week after the attempt started!

Will coldplay do a Kid A?
I don't know, i'm unsure. I don't mind Radiohead's change, but then i wasn't really a Radiohead fan when that happened (I got most of their albums inc. OK Computer and The Bends after the release of Amnesiac). But with Coldplay, i got both albums the day they came out, knew of them since the beginning, kind of grown up with them if that makes sense and don't know whether i'd cope (ok, overdramatic) with such a change...

Will coldplay do a Kid A?
Given the band's well documented love of Radiohead, Chris's comments last year (something like they are going to "reinvent the wheel" - although i know they have slightly retracted this now) and the fact they have ditched Ken Nelson could Coldplay's third album be a complete change of direction, like Kid A. And if it was, how would people feel about that.

Q Magazine Make 3rd Coldplay Album Most Anticipated of 2005
I can't wait. Anyone have any gossip on why they ditched Ken? Conflicting directions? I can hardly think its a fall out at all, it is Coldplay. Are they going to do a KID A then?

WHY coldplay?
Driving through the Yorkshire Moors, sitting in the back, Parachutes through earphones. No-one around, surrounded by hills and heather, absolute peace in an unspoilt area. And then Chris sings "We live in a beautiful world". Yes we do.

I am currently listening to....
Sia - Breathe Me. Lovely. The new Feeder song was on just before. It's quite Coldplay-ish

dance hall dance hall everynight im gonna dance hall !!
And it's true we named our children after towns that we've never been to. And it's true that the clouds just hung around like black Cadillacs outside a funeral. And we're done, done, done with all the fck, fck, fckin' around. You were so true to yourself. You were true to no one else well I should put you in the ground. I've got the time, I got the hours, I got the days, I got the weeks. I could say to myself I've got the words but I can't speak. Well, I was done, done, done with all the circ, circ, circlin' round. I didn't die and I ain't complainin'. I ain't blamin' you. I didn't know that the words you said to me meant more to me than they ever could you? I didn't lie and I ain't sayin' I told the whole truth. I didn't know that this game we were playin' even had a set of rules. We named our children after towns that we've never been to. And it's true that the clouds just hung around like black Cadillacs outside a funeral. And we were laughing at the stars while our feet clung tight to the ground. So pleased with ourselves for using so many verbs and nouns. But we were all still just dumb, dumb, dumber than the dirt, dirt, dirt on the ground. Well wings on flames, kings with no names, well this place just ain't got right air right now. You were so all over town but still so Crayola brown. Well you should run 'round yourself right now. And we were done, done, done with all the fck, fck, fckin' around. Circlin' round

The New MM album is good. Not as good as some reviews made out, Black Cadillac has some of my fave lyrics this year. Hang on, will just try and find them...

Adem - Homesongs
Anyone got Adem - Homesongs? Really really good. Starts of slow, but give it time and a few listens and it's probably up there with Damien Rice or Tom McRae. Slightly different style though. Life is for living, hope your all living it well. x

The Offical "The Killers" Thread
Yeah, The Killers have really grown on me. Got the album after loving the first couple of singles, didn't get into it. It was getting a bit dusty, so i played it and realised how great it it. Everythings Gonna Be Alright is my favourite.

Somehow he did. The world remains a mystery. Someone also gave Busted a record deal. Bizzare.

MUSIC HALL OF FAME - COLDPLAYING FINAL
Actually, read an interesting comment in The Times the other week. It was arguing that bands from the middle classes (Coldplay, Radiohead, Blur) are usually better long term prospects than those from the lower classes (Oasis etc) because the lower classes, after that success, makes them arrogant and they use their new found success to do whatever they like, whereas the middle class bands are affected by the success by becoming more worried about following up that success. They are haunted by the prospect of failure which drives them on to write a better follow up album, whereas the bands from lower classes are not bothered about failure. Not sure whether i agree 100%, but its quite interesting, no?

MUSIC HALL OF FAME - COLDPLAYING FINAL
I voted Radiohead. They are by far and away the best on that list. Innovation is the mark of a good band, and even when they went Kid A they still achieved a large amount of critical and public enthusiasm, and deservedly so. So many bands are complacent and happy to churn out the same sounding stuff just becasue they know it can shift records. Like Oasis.

The Shins!
Went to see them at Leeds cockpit with the Stills, both bands were really good. I really love New Slang, it was their final song when we saw them i think, and we had to go catch our train halfway through it. Devestating. Garden State was tres good, but i had already decided that the moment Don't Panic kicked in...

Final Straw was one of, if not the best album of 2004. Lyrically its great. Anyone seen the Chocolate video?

Thirteen Senses
'History' is really cool. The guitar bit as it fades out is really ace, especially at sunset. They'd be a great band for about the sunset slot at a festival. For some reason they make me feel quite nostalgic.

Thirteen Senses
Excellent band, great debut album. Best debut since Parachutes? I think so.

Spies
In my opinion its the best track on Parachutes. I love the way it changes from "They're all spies" to "They're just spies" its really uplifting, and reassuring. Kind of. Well, it usually sends shivers down my spine anyway.

See You Soon - appreciation
its an amazing song the live version is better, the original seems slightly faster tempo? On the live version i always have to listen out for the random person cheering after chris sings "And when all you need is friends", for some strange reason.
