Manic Street Preachers
The noteburg: The Manic Street Preachers can really be split into 3 main time periods, that do overlap slightly: <1994 - punk rock - often dealing with politics and/or personal trauma 1995-2003 - indie rock - far more mainstream, the most famous albums, Everything Must Go and This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, have the singles most people know. The latter Masses Against The Classes single and Know Your Enemy were almost a return to their roots but in a more experimental way 2004-? - Synth pop such as Lifeblood. This is most likley the future of the band and is quite a drastic deparure from their previous stuff. I'm not best qualified to comment on this one as I didn't really enjoy it all that much. Having said that, the songs Empty Souls, Solitude Sometimes Is and 1985 are great though. If you'd like some samples of their previous albums, drop me a line: rodgerdavies at gmail.com

it does say "their last performance of the year", which pretty much rules out any festivals too

Who do you reckon will support then?
In Britain at least? Keane I reckon will be favourites, for some reason it just seems a rather obvious pick, although I hope this isn't the case, much as I do like them. I think the band Thirteen Senses would make superb support, they are supporting Embrace in May and are currently in the middle of their first headlining tour. I saw them last weekend in Leeds and were of a real surprising live calibre, I just wasn't expecting it to work so well live. Any suggestions guys?

they are 'rumoured' for Leeds & Reading at efestivals.com but I can't see it myself. Jewel (sorry, I don't know where you're from), or for that matter, anyone else, are you going to the April tour? PS: < You call that a Welsh flag?

~The Dears~
I saw them live a couple of months ago, was one of the most horrible musical experiences of my life. One keyboard should be any band's limit, 2/3 and a flute is just wrong. Sorry, guess it's just not my thing. ;)

no it isnt. 75 at most. that price is about $60 at a guess, however, many bands have a habit of charging less in the US. Case in point, U2 standing tickets cost me £55 but in the States the same tickets, for a smaller venue, is only $50.

that's why the gods invented the internet Am I the only one to think that If You Tolerate This is over-rated? It doesn't make it onto my 'best of' compilation cd, which is: 1. You Stole The Sun From My Heart 2. Further Away 3. Faster 4. Prologue To History 5. Forever Delayed 6. The Masses Against The Classes 7. Everything Must Go 8. Ocean Spray 9. Kevin Carter 10. Found That Soul 11. Australia 12. Mr. Carbohydrate 13. From Despair To Where 14. Scream To A Sigh 15. Motown Junk 16. The Convalescent 17. Nobody Loved You 18. No Surface All Feeling 19. Design For Life PS: Order is for flow rather than rating. No Surface All Feeling is my personal favourite of their repetoire.
