'05 Tour song list
All setlists are quite similar, the only two songs I missed were AROBTTH and What If: 1. Square One 2. Politik 3. Yellow 4. GPASUYF 5. Speed Of Sound 6. Low 7. Warning Sign/A Rush Of Blood To The Head 8. Everything's Not Lost 9. White Shadows 10. The Scientist 11. 'Til Kingdom Come (Acoustic) 12. Don't Panic (Acoustic) 13. Clocks 14. Swallowed In The Sea/Talk -Encore- 15. What If/Swallowed In The Sea 16. In My Place 17. Fix You I think that's reasonably accurate

Dire Straits....
of course - have you heard any of Knopfler's solo stuff too? I usually avoid side-projects and solo albums but Sailing To Philidelphia is actually pretty good (well, the first half anyway - What It Is is classic DS)

Nada Surf
Nada Surf (I've just found..........) no annoying/original quirkiness, just good old fashioned acoustic-indie-pop-rock but done so well. I found the album Let Go by accident, was just clicking aound bored, heard a few mp3s and didn't find a bad one so went and bought the album and it's great - I haven't listened for long enough to have a stand-out yet, assuming I don't start hating it next week, I'll investigate their latest release. I'd never heard of them before, are they any more known Stateside or elsewhere?
-
erm, how to put this, are songs without vocals incomplete?
yes - i find it difficult to listen to music without lyrics, and difficult when I don't really like the voice of the vocalist - which makes my tastes very selective

4/10 Radiohead - Go To Sleep
-
Nirvana
talk about cashing in. I thought the box-set itself was a terrible thing, fit only for bootleg collectors, but this is beyond that - how ms love has the audacity to keep flogging Kurt's name is beyond me....................

did you not read the warning - you were supposed to leave

Bands like Coldplay
I think the two are both derivations of different aspects of Radiohead, hence why there are many common fans. (I'm not one of the "Everyone copies Radiohead" people BTW, I prefer both Coldplay & Muse)

Best 4 albums of the year
were all those out this year? Surely at least 2 of those were 2004 releases, no? ermm ... lol i had to do a bit of research cause i wasn't so sure but - Coldplay - X&Y was released 7th June 05 - Thirteen Senses - The Invitation was released 17th January 05 - Athlete - Tourist was released 10th May 05 - Kasabian - Kasabian was released 8th March 05 so no all in 2005, probably just thought that because time goes so quickly! mm, Kasabian was last year, although both Thirteen Senses and Athlete were January 05. Thanks for reminding me, I was asking mainly because I would have had The Invitation on my list if I'd known.

Manic Street Preachers
oh good, a follow up - i really thought that that was it at the end of the last tour, I was especially convinced after reading the back of the God Save...EP (which I didn't get a copy of :-( ) I don't think I'll be buying Nicky's solo works though, not for the life of me if he's singing it...............

Bands like Coldplay
Thirteen Senses are quite a good one Keane have no guitars but are still quite feasable I'm going to suggest some early Radiohead, although be aware that Coldplay are like Radiohead rather than the other way round (my disclaimer) that's all for now

Album ratings!
Parachutes - 8/10 AROBTTH - 10 X & Y - 7 To make sure I don't hand out too many tens, by the way, I only have six 10/10 albums in my mind, Achtung Baby, Joshua Tree, Led Zep IV, Houses of the Holy and the Manics' Everything Must Go being the other five.
