What the heck was I thinking?? What a world - cold as a freezer here, warm as a toaster there..

But I was thinking something about the 'ladder to space' that they were discussing on on-point. Stronger materials needed, but perhaps if each section were held aloft with hot air balloons, aerodynamically designed. Still, it's a bit nuts. Why not just make a ladder to bridge the gap between rich and poor, and leave in the bottom rungs?
