I personally liked the epilogue although, it was pretty cheesy and I can see why so some people didn't. I just wanted the characters to find peace you know. Call me old-fashioned but I like happy endings lol. And if in 20 years JK decides to do something else with the world she created, I would not mind at all.

She was planning to kill Harry at first. She didn't want anybody to write the sequel to Harry Potter book 7 if she had let Harry alive. She just wanted Harry to die and so the story ends. That's it.

 

BUT due to so many readers and fans around the world who weren't agree with this plot, she then changed her mind and instead kept Harry alive. Which to me personally was very disappointing. I was like 'aaaaarrrggghh..' when I read the epilogue. :P
