Hangover cures., Tried and Tested

Anyone know any great hangover cures

Basically, I have a buddy that gets hangovers a lot and as I never seem to suffer from them, I was wondering if anyone knew any?

I had a hangover gong into work at 7 in the morning last week, it helps to eat a lot, soaks up the alcohol in ur stomach.

I suffer from them quite a bit, so I've found some cures on the internet. Here's some I've found to be quite effective:

- Water. Alcohol causes dehydration, and this is the number one cause of hangovers. Have a pint of water before you go to bed. You might need to get up in the night for a piss, but it'll be worth it in the morning. Also keep a pint of water by your bed for when you wake up.

- Go for a walk. The fresh air and exercise increases metabolism so the chemicals break down more quickly. I always feel a lot better after a 10-minute walk.

- Tomatoes. They honestly do work. Even tomato soup or pasta with a tomato sauce will do the trick.

- Take some Ibuprofen (I didn't really need to tell you that did I?)

- Drink a can of Red Bull. It increases metabolism and restores the vitamins you lose when you drink alcohol.

- Don't mix too many different types of drinks (e.g. beer, then wine, then vodka, then whiskey, then cider etc.) This means you liver will have to deal with more different types of chemicals in the morning, making your hangover worse and meaning it lasts longer. I usually just stick to two different types of drinks (normally beer and vodka).

- Drink more alcohol. This doesn't actually stop the hangover, it just delays it. There is an explanation for this, but it's very long-winded and I'd rather not go into it; it's something to do with the order in which the liver processes certain chemicals. This is known as the "hair of the dog".

- Open a can (or pour a glass) of coke before you go out drinking and leave it open on the table. When you come back, it should be flat. Drink it before you go to bed, and the chemicals supposedly help the liver break down the alcohol. I've never actually tried this, but I've been told it works

Oh, and the commonly told "milk lines your stomach" technique doesn't work at all.

And you don't get drunk quicker if you mix your drinks - you just end up feeling worse in the morning.

I eat toast....well it helps me anyway.

that one about mixing the drinks is so true. Because the night before I had vodka, wine, and then gin and tonic. I felt so bad the next morning at work. And yea, the part about drinking lots of water is true too. I was hanging around the water cooler at work for a good half an hour.

a cold shower, a coffee, and some "rillettes" :stunned:

This always works for me !! I have told some people and they did not follow my advice . I followd my own and felt great the next morning. !

Take Asprin right before you drink and/or before you go to bed. I take Alka Seltzer.
