Aw Camille, that is bound to be hard to deal with.

I have a brother who is 17 and I would be feeling exactly the same way if he joined up.

My cousin is a nurse in the RAF, which might not sound so bad as the marines, but we all still feel scared for her when she has to travel to the war-torn areas

I hope you're ok. <hug>

... that my 18 yr. old brother has signed up for the Marines!!! :stunned: He'll be starting college in the fall (supposedly) and the military has promised to pay for any school of his choosing because he has such great grades.. :embarrased: I am bother by this though. I am happy for him because he's the first one to go away for college.. he's the only boy in the family (brothers/sisters) and he has worked so hard to earn his grades.. but I am sooooooooooo upset that he has joined the Marines knowing the state of war we are in!! What if he gets drafted!! What if he gets called to duty in Iraq.. or some other war ridden land.. I am so sad.. yet happy for him.. I really dont know what to feel.. but I know that I'm in a bit of shock. (and sad) He's the baby for crying out loud!!! (although I am very well aware that he's not a kid.. ) but you get the jist...

I just needed to rant..

hey cam, i know we don't exactly see eye to eye lately, but i hope it all works out for ya :)

thanks guys.... reading your words helped me this morning.. I still havent called my brother though.. I was too upset last night.. but I feel I really need to talk to him, not to talk him out of it.. he's old enough to make his own decisions.. but I guess so he can allow me to see that this really is something he wants to do.. bah! I feel so old!! I can remember when I changed his diapers!!! :(

i'm sure if you just make him aware of what he's doing, then if he doesn't really want to do it, he won't and sometime cam, we've got to be cruel to be kind, he might turn against you for trying to tell him, but you've gotta let him know how you feel about all of this

oh no!! he wont ever turn against me.. I honestly think he might just be doing this because of the scholarship money... which sometimes is how (I feel) my government suckers youngs kids into joining the military.. BUT on on the other hand.. maybe he really wants to go and defend his country... my dad was drafted to Vietnam when he was 18, so maybe he looks up to my dad and wants to do the same. (which is very probable) I admire my father very much as well for that. I can't say I agree with this war.. but one thing i have always done is supported the troops.. they need all the back up and support they can get... there maybe tons of kis there who joined up just for the scholorship money as well.... and instead ended up in the front lines.. this is what I am afraid of. But I suppose I am 'jumping the gun' here so to speak... I guess it all came as a shock to me.. thats all..

chin up hun, i'm sure he'll make the right decision :)

He's only 18 years old? (he is as older as me?), wow.

Well he decide to join it.. my dad decide it too when he was younger and was on the army more or less 20 years...where hard years specially 'cause his bosses, they were so annoying and stupids. an uncle and most of my friends dads are or were on army too, and my friends used to be so sad 'cause they were on wars, so i tried to help them the best i can, listening to them..but they are ok, they earn money beening on wars.. it was dangerous anyways but they are ok. the other bad thing is that hey have to move from places so often and all this stuff... and sometimes you won't know where they exactly are or what they're doing but they are ok.

i think your brother is too young to join it but if it's his desition... :/

anyways, you know that kettercat (a member from forum) joined to army too, 3 years of army :o , and well when you are a new army member you won't know what you'll do there and anyways you can't refuse what your bosses order you to do, that's the bad thing camile.

*hugs*
