Does anyone know where the name X&Y comes from?

I dont even like Coldplay and yet I still re-call Chris Martin saying repeatadly on different interviews, something like "It is two sides, two different answers for a question. Two opposites of life that are paired together" blah blah blah hippy Chris Martin crep.

Its 2 seperate things. Like X&Y chromosomes? I dunno.

I think in that case Yin And Yang would suit better... och black & White or whatever...but why just X&Y? I was thinking of the chromosones thingy too..
