Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like Swallowed In The Sea?

Featured Replies

Coldplay is better cold' date=' IMO. That's why I prefer Twisted Logic.[/quote']

I love Twisted Logic too, deep and dark, with pumping beats like Politik :) Its not like I only like Trouble, Yellow, and Clocks :P

No you're not and I understand has a good rythm but the lyrics just seem very silly.

The lyrics are not the reason why I dislike the song. There just seems to be no talent displayed. And I hope that the recent wave of love for this song dies down soon and that people can realize that there are so many better songs on the album. And I don't mean Twisted Logic, because that song is nowhere near the best.

I agree in that I'm also very surprised that this song has been such a huge fan favorite, but then, I'm also shocked that everyone is latching onto "Fix You" like a squid on a submarine's hull, so perhaps I'm just odd.

But I think the same could be said of many Coldplay songs. I mean, usually the guitarist gets a lot of kudos for a band's sound, and I will give Jonny that much, but I'm seriously beginning to believe that he's the least talented band member. He's improving, but there's still something missing. Regardless, I think "Swallowed in the Sea" has a place on the album for the same reason you more or less stated earlier: It contains a warmth that is not normally so tangible on X&Y. You can't just splash cold water on an audience; you need to temper it so it's at least a little easier to swallow.

Incidentally, you said it "tried too hard to be the "Warning Sign" of this album", which I fidn interesting, becuase I feel taht "Warning Sign" feels forced. I mean, I think it's the one song that feels the least genuine on all of Rush of Blood(barring the point toward the end when the piano comes in), where 'Swallowed' feels in no way forced. To me, anyway.

It just goes to show that Coldplay, in some aspects, is losing a lot of their creativity.

EDIT: I think Johnny is a pretty good guitarist. Will is easily the least talented on the band. His drumbeats are really unoriginal. The only thing i like about Will's drumming is that he spices is up the bland beats with some nice cymbal-rapping.

its better than the Hardest Part.. I hate that one.. :embarrased:

No way!

It is one of my least favourites, alongs with the Hardest Part... But it's still OK!

Ya'll crazy----swallowed in the sea is very catchy and very coldplayish-----if u dont like the rhyming---then what are u listening to coldplay for----if u dont like the music----well, it sounds a lot like the rest of coldplays----if u dont like the lyrics----thats cause u dont feel that way

Coldplay rocks----and to me----all of their songs are sooooo kool and are great----and why i say this---cause i feel like ya'll bad mouthing ma favorite band in the world----and i am sure they would feel bad if they read how unapreciated their hard work has been

Nobody said you had to kiss Coldplay's ass to be in this forum. No band is perfect. And we're just pointing out some of this band's flaws.

lol,the lyrics made me laugh when I first heard them, sounded like he tried too hard....but then again I can look at it as a simple heartfelt song, not the best on the album but not dreadfully bad or anything...

If you haven't seen the song performed live you have no idea what you're talking about.

I don't "hate" songs.. so I didn't hate the song at first.

It just never caught on to me and I couldn't really feel

anything while listening to it. In part yeah its cause of

the rhyming and his singing.. but once I saw it live on

the acoustic japanese performance video.. blew me away.

His expressions/emotion through the entire song really

made me FEEL for the song and the words certainly meant

something once I saw him saying them.

Try it out, if you can find the video at least.

I absolutely love it... nothing more to say, I guess.

you have got to be fucking kidding me! will the least talented? :/  :o :stunned: :disappointed: :mean: :dead:

:stunned: :anxious: :disappointed: that's my fav on the whole album..!

I hated Swallowed in the Sea for AGES. It's still my least favourite song on the album, but I rather like the chorus part. The verses are just too.....boring. But how can you hate The Hardest Part? That's my 2nd favourite one. It's great! :D

i like the song. the hardest part is also great!

I don't like this song, just too boring and it's the same with The Hardest part :(

I think that The Hardest Part and Swallowed in the Sea are the same kind of song. Basically' date=' if you don't like one, you won't like the other.[/quote']

i agree with this.i luv both of them

"everything i do it just comes undone" shines

Oh I know what you mean, that was quite a performance...I think I'll go watch it again.

Like I said,I think you could look at this song as either a pethatic rhyming game or a simple but emotional and heartfelt song,I prefer the latter.

i like the melody and the sound of chris' vocals, but i dispise the song lyrcally. it's childsplay next to any of the tracks on the prior albums.
