i think you all got the term indie not understood, but then i read back and saw tom explained it already so i'm not going to do it.

 

 

 

and like someone said up there i forgot who not many people know about them.....the reason for that is because they arent popular and dont have a major lable to host them or whatever.

 

so yeah it is independent....that's where indie came from.

Indie is one of those tricky words in rock association, its like pop. Everyone assumes that pop is suddenly S Club 7 or the Spice Girls, but Coldplay are pop, and so are Radiohead, and so was Bob Marley. Its about being PopULAR, I have no idea what catergories "pop" bands would go into, well, weird German "pop" bands could be called Euro pop, and people like Britney Spears or Christina aguilera could go into dance/trance/hip hop, etcetera etcetera...

 

Id consider a lot of the indie mentioned here as an underground feeling brit rock with alternative endings, but its such a wide word it can fit into a lot of things. Like I said, just like pop, indie was one of those words that originally meant a common basic word, pop used to mean popular, indie used to mean independant, it just made things simpler, but now its somehow been turned into a genre (Category of music).
