miss capa
ohh thanks Bea i wrote this another one: diving in an open book, drowning in your lies drop to drop your hope starts to desapear after all these mistakes, you fall on despair though, invincible, you thought you were I love that one sooo much Ahlem. Thankyou!! Some Somewhere, someone's perfect Even if they aren't here Some place, some people are happy Even if they're no where near Some time, some smiles will be glowing Even if it won't happen soon Some dream, some song will be written Even if it isn't the perfect tune

miss capa
^Love it :D It's so, unique and thought conveying!! Map of Your Head I don't want directions I want an "OK, go!" I don't want a map I want a "Take it slow" I don't want a standing ovation I want a round of applause I don't want my 'reason' I want my cause I don't need a mirror I need a kind word or two I don't need treasured memories I need something fresh and new Ok, I know the title is the same as an already existing song but the song is where I drew inspiration for this poem. Also realised that 'reason' and 'cause' are the same :P
chuck kottke
Map of my head?? Hmm.. maybe too much high speed then, eh?;) Take it slow then - true, too much of our world today is like a bunch of bananas..speedy bananas! A move even-keeled approach, then it will be. 'Reason' is the motive; the purpose for the action. 'Cause' can be larger - The cause to help the homeless, for example. Lest that's the way I see it - but I like that part!! Fresh and new - not treasured memories.. Well, OK - whaddaya want then?:P Blueberries? Modern Rumble.. at the low end is a rumble, barely perceptible.. to the auditory limits of the inner ear.. and yet it's there, most every time of the year.. why it drives me nuts, perhaps just the knowledge that it never was there before.. perhaps just the knowledge that I can't pinpoint it; I can't ignore it. Is it a truck? Is it a mixer? Is it a motor? Is it a speaker? Is it a volcano? Is it that cement plant on the hill? Someone please tell me what it is! A rumble in the jungle where once there was peace. Makes the animals restless for the sound that no cease.
Bonus_mosher
Excalibur ;) "I froze your tears and made a dagger And Stabbed it in my cock forever It stayed there like Excalibur Are you my Arthur, say you are... Take this cool, dark, steel-ed blade steal it sheath it in your lake I'd drown with you to be together Must you breathe? Cos' I need heaven!" - David Brent.

Like "No! I don't want this! I want this...but I want this and well, no I don't really need that" etc. The words were made up on the spot, but the last line seems to carry the same theme as a lot of my poems, a need for something new

(& here I thought you were trying to send me a message, Rachel!:laugh3:) Contradictions, vagueness, half-intelligible words and phrases. Bono likes to use this as a way of creating lyrics, or so I hear.. Hmm.. well, in a sense, old things can be "new", since they can be new experiences. Or, something totally new could be in your future. No doubt about that! And since you're a budding creative talent, I would hope a new piano piece??;) (I made a new one up :P - now it's your turn!)

I liked it Rachael  :D Thankyou so much Bea :D! I recently bought my self an 'organic paper' book (all the paper is made out of recycled leaves) and I'm writing down all the poems I post here to keep as records. chuck kottke
Composition - paper and key Thanks Bea!! Yes, Dada and Dadaism - I had never written the word, so I just learned something new! I knew a member of the Beats (a friend who passed away just recently) who introduced me to the concepts of the Dadaists. He was at one time writing poetry with Jack Keroac and the other members of their group, and gained knowledge of the concepts from them. But the Wiki article was very interesting - I had no clue that Dadaism influenced Pop-art, Surrealism, and several other forms of art. And to think, it all began in Zurich, Switzerland in 1917, during WWI.. Rachel, you're making your own paper?? Wow, that's interesting! Something I've seen made, but never tried myself. And transcribing your compositions onto this paper - very independent and earthy!! Well, keep up the great works, and some day share your inventions - I'd like to hear what you've created! I think I'll try and go the modern route - something about the nuances of playing music, that while it can be written, for some reason (could just be my superstitions) I think it looses a few finer sounds and subtle characteristics.. Mozart hadn't any choice, but today we can opt for recording devices.. although, I like the idea of being independent enough to make paper and write down the song - that's got rustic freedom to it! By writing it down, you're sharpening your skills as a composer, paying attention to details, and understanding the composition all the better. Adding nuances can be done whence played. Useful qualities for a young musical talent - Keep up the good work!!:)

Onces followed the others, i mean Dada, Surrealism and Pop-art movements/eras/styles. Well the idea may sound good, but i'm used to the classic poetry, things with metric and rythm, not just some random composition, but well, each one its taste. (i had to confess that i had written some not metric or rythm poetry some times, and i had the chance to read to a local poet that write the same way and i liked it so much (he is not Dada)). Wow that's great you know people like that chuck kottke.

chuck kottke
Bea, I have to agree - I like poetry with some rhyme and meter to it, but hearing Greg recite beat poetry was hilarious! The poetry was all over the place - a blend of seemingly random ideas, like stream-of-thought only with quick subject jumps.. It was funny!! Something like this.. (The beetle, shaped like a blimp, dazzling sunlight on it, glowing all afire with people "oh, the humanity of it", burning, as steak sizzled on the grill, cross examination, cross of Jesus, nailing mankind's hope to a bulletin board of cork, cork from Spanish oak set to plug Champagne bottles tossed to sea, SOS, and landing on shore, on deck, on the carrier deck after a bombing at the opera opening night, following opening day of the dawning civilization..) (something like that, only more bizarre!) Liquid Sky - how true - you say, when you write, it comes out of the blue; and I feel about the same way! It's almost like the subconscious surfacing.. I do write music, but rarely, I'm better at arranging and I have done so many times now. Its ironic though, because I'm arraging the song "Map of your Head" for a piano and two other instuments (flutes, violins, I'll see how it works out). I haven't written anything down but I will need to because I actually really want to perform this and I need some way of teaching my friends how it goes.
