can any one give me information on crests of waves animals 136 and i ran away ive jus bought them and waiting for them 2 arrive. are they happy or sad songs? and are they good songs or are they jus good enogh for b sides??

these b sides are some of the best songs the band has written

 

'crests of waves'was released on the 'clocks' single. very upbeat and uplifting song.

 

'animals' was also released on the 'clocks' single. to me this song seems very dark

 

'1.36' was released on 'the scientist' single and sounds more like a punk song. tim wheeler from the band ash adds extra guitar parts and the comedian simon pegg sings some backing vocals on the track.

 

'i ran away' was also released on 'the scientist' single and has a drum beat taken from a echo and the bunnymen song, don't know which one though. some great layered guitar parts from johnny.

I ran away is my favorite B side, everyone loves this one.

3 of those 4 are my favourite Coldplay B-sides and the other, Animals, is not half bad either. None are particularly downbeat songs, maybe Animals is

It doesn't sound dark to me... Not in a very obvious way anyway though the lyrics are another matter. I like it coz it's cozy/intimate but still has a roomy/spacey feel to it.

 

They're all outstanding favourites, though Crest of Waves does it less for me. Nevertheless, good buys, all.

I Ran Away remains one of my favorites...regardless of how many times I listen to it :)

I've never heard any of these! Now I have to try to find them somewhere. I always tend to like B-sides songs better than most of the hits anyway, so I'm sure I'll love them!
