Chris Martin recovers from throat illness

Coldplay back to work after cancellations on US tour

Coldplay's Chris Martin has recovered from an illness that had forced his band to cancel a several shows on their American tour.

The band pulled gigs in Tampa, on September 14 and in Birmingham , Alabama on September 16, but Martin has been cleared to sing again tonight (September 17) at Bank Pavilion in St Louis .

The singer had been suffering from a throat illness, however drummer Will Champion has reassured fans with tickets to the cancelled shows that the band will make up for those dates.

"Chris is suffering from some issues with his throat and it was felt by his doctor that if he didn't give his voice a rest he might not be able to sing for the rest of the US dates," Champion wrote on Coldplay.com "Please be assured that we are planning on returning to the US in the spring of 2006 and when we do we will definitely reschedule both these shows."

Meanwhile it has been revealed that Coldplay plan to donate the profits from US downloads of current single 'Fix You' to charities supporting victims of Hurricane Katrina .

Coldplay singer in throat drama

Coldplay have been forced to cancel a string of American gigs after singer Chris Martin picked up a throat infection.

The band were forced to cancel dates in Tampa and Alabama, but doctors have declared Martin fit enough to sing on the rest of the tour.

Writing on the band's official website, drummer Will Champion insisted the band will do their best to reschedule the dates.

He wrote: "Chris is suffering from some issues with his throat and it was felt by his doctor that if he didn't give his voice a rest he might not be able to sing for the rest of the US dates.

Thank god he got better and didn't do the permanent damage they alluded to... That would have been devestating. :/

a string of dates????? It was 2 shows for chrissakes.. bah, the media! But good to hear Chris is feeling better.. ;)

Good to hear hes better!! :smug: Stay well Chris! xx

that's great news! :D

Luckily for me, he got better right before my show (St. Louis). Judging form his performance, it didn't even seem like he was ever sick. His voice was still beautiful, he was energetic as ever, and completely awesome in every way. In other words, Chris Martin is the greatest human being to ever grace the planet and no sickness can keep him from singing for too long. And dear lord was I happy to hear my show wouldn't be canceled!

^You selfish fuck! Chris got better, okay? I'm sorry that he didn't get to perform for you show, but god damn, let it go already!

And how is this 'rubbing it in'? LifeLight was simply posting articles about Chris recovering from his throat infection.

Only YOU see it as 'rubbing it in', sir.

EDIT: Erm... sorry for the language. Lol. Went off the handle a bit.

EDIT again: Eurghhh... really off the handle, lol.

this guy deserves some unloading on... been bitching and moaning and downright vicious for days... i thought he was done with coldplay and never going to listen to them again... if so, what are you still doing here with all of us who still adore them? please don't make those who are looking forward to a show feel bad about it - it's ridiculous!! and this bit of criticism is coming from someone who has not and will not get to see them this year. just let it go dude...

Now now..Play nice! :P

thanks for rubbing it in to us that didn't get to see them

I agree with everyone else, you've obviously just joined to bitch, given your username.

Now we're a friendly community and we're sick of all this bitching, moaning and whinging. Everyone has a right to speak their mind, but once is enough, we don't want to hear about it over and over again.

If you can't stop with the selfishness and see that Chris is a HUMAN who gets sick, who has a right to recover, like the rest of us, then don't post at all!

No-one's interested in the negative posts anymore and it's upsetting the real fans.

Now, we welcome any Coldplay fan here so we shall welcome you if you still wish to chat nicely with other fans...

I got to see them on August 20 and August 21---two nights in a row---and might see them again when they come back in spring

and yes this is rubbing it in :sneaky: but only on you

thanks for rubbing it in to us that didn't get to see them

I agree!!!

Some people are so immature, its pathetic  .......whoever this 'tampacoldplayer' is obviously was never a REAL fan because they've turned on Coldplay so quickly just because of Chris getting ill, which cant be helped, like 'mimixxx' said he IS HUMAN after all.......REAL fans show how much they support Coldplay by still loving them as much as ever even though they're dissapointed that their concerts were cancelled.....thats a REAL fan.

Glad Chris is better.
